"Many migratory groups came to the Americas" Elder Ted E. Brewerton was right

Post by kirtland r.m. »

Many migratory groups came to the Americas, but none was as important as the three mentioned in the Book of Mormon. The blood of these people flows in the veins of the Blackfoot and the Blood Indians of Alberta, Canada; in the Navajo and the Apache of the American Southwest; the Inca of western South America; the Aztec of Mexico; the Maya of Guatemala; and in other native American groups in the Western Hemisphere and the Pacific islands.

These choice native people recognize the truth of the Book of Mormon, which was recorded for them by their own ancestors ("The Book of Mormon: A Sacred Ancient Record," Ted E. Brewerton, Ensign, Nov. 1995, p. 30).

Elder Mark E. Petersen, a member of the Council of the Twelve Apostles, wrote: “As the ancient Israelites suffered a dispersion which sprinkled them among all the nations, so the descendants of Laman and Lemuel [sons of Lehi] were sifted over the vast areas of the western hemisphere. They are found from pole to pole” (Children of Promise, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1981, p. 31; emphasis added).

They may or may not have been dispersed from "pole to pole" but their beliefs in some things which were true including a visit of Jesus Christ were. Sorry if you have seen some of this from past posts.

Dated by non latter day saints to the time Joseph said. This was very near the end of the Nephites. They are saying about 380 A.D.. A short video, very interesting.posting.php?mode=post&f=14

Hebrew Decalogue Stone Authenticated by America Unearthed

Published on Apr 14, 2014
Forensic geologist Scott Wolter, star of the History2 Channel's hit series America Unearthed, meets professor Hugh McCullough at the Johnson Humrickhouse Museum in Coshocton, Ohio to conduct an analysis on the Ohio Decalague stone. The stone, discovered in a Native America burial mound in Newark, Ohio in 1860 by David Wyrick, the town's respected surveyor, has been unscientifically declared a hoax by the archaeological establishment under the Smithsonian. It is controversial because it was found to have an ancient form of Hebrew writing that, when translated, turned out to be a complete rendition of the Ten Commandments.

One problem is that the stone was discovered in an undisturbed burial mound that dates to about 100 AD, which is some 200 years prior to the compilation of the Bible in Europe. How could people in America know about the Ten Commandments 200 years before they were available in Europe? The question is one that deserves to be discussed. There is an answer to how people in ancient America may have had the Ten Commandments before the Bible was compiled. The answer may be found in the recovery of an ancient record inscribed on metal plates and translated into English in 1830.

To find out more about this ancient history, visit www.BookofMormonEvidence.org.

The evidence is overwhelming. There were Hebrews in America anciently and their descendants are North American Native Peoples. Their ancestors were among the most advanced, sophisticated civilizations anywhere on earth at their time. It is time to end the hiding, ignoring and destruction of their mighty civilization which reigned supreme in the Heartland of North America for some 1000 years.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHh8r8x9NzA

"Accidental Reinforcement of Christ's BOM Visit to the Americas (This is Big!)" from thiscountsashometeaching.blogspot.com
These stories were collected by the author(s) from American Indians -
including Shaman. It appears to have been written in the 1990s
Now to jump in (italics and bold added):

“In the Lakota and Cherokee way of life, Wakan Tanka… is the term for "the sacred" or "the divine". This is usually translated as "The Great Spirit". However, according to Russell Means, its meaning is closer to "Great Mystery" as Lakota spirituality is not henotheistic. Before their attempted conversion to Christianity, the Sioux used [Wakan Tanka] to refer to an organization of sacred entities whose ways were mysterious: thus, "The Great Mystery". It would seem to appear that they had already, with consideration of their culture, been Christianized by Jesus the Christ Himself and that it had begun at the beginning of Jesus' 40 days after His Resurrection...”(http://www.apostle1.com/a-native-americ ... n-god.html)

That is specific on many levels. Jesus Christ appeared to the American Indians very soon after his resurrection.

And if you keep reading - on the same page it gets even better:

“The Chippewa remember very well the "pale Great Master." They tell how He gave them medicine lodges where the signs and emblems are secret and taken from those across the ocean. And according to the author, they keep this secret to this day.” (http://www.apostle1.com/a-native-americ ... n-god.html)https://thiscountsashometeaching.blogsp ... rists.html

More to come in the future on this.

Thank you for this post, Kirtland. My husband is Native American....a Dakota Sioux who grew up on the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate reservation in Sisseton, South Dakota. He has some interesting stories to tell. His grandparents, who basically raised him, told him a "story" of three very wise medicine men who visited their ancestors, etc. Thanks for the resources you included.
