This is a great post, from a great source as well! Here is an interesting quote by President Young.Swazilandairtours wrote: ↑March 14th, 2019, 8:33 pm https://thiscountsashometeaching.blogsp ... ndian.html
“I feel like shouting, hallelujah, all the time, when I think that I ever I knew Joseph Smith, the Prophet.”
— Brigham Young, Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young (1997), 343–51
The same could be said about Brother Brigham by me and others as well. A true American Moses. Here is one last quote by him which I love. On 1 January 1877, carried into the room because his legs were so weak, President Brigham Young addressed the congregation that had met to dedicate the lower story of the St. George Temple. This prophet, seer, and revelator declared: “We enjoy privileges that are enjoyed by no one else on the face of the earth. … When I think upon this subject, I want the tongues of seven thunders to wake up the people” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young [1997], 299).

Thanks for posting this. It reaffirms my testimony that BY was indeed a prophet.
The section on "Brigham Young’s Solution to (Some) Indian Slavery" was actually a eye opening a-ha moment for me. I have read several instances of my pioneer ancestors who had what I like to call Indian helpers rather than slaves in their households. They helped around the home but were treated like family. It all makes sense now as to why they did!
