Good grief. The extremes some take things here is astounding.
Watch and listen to President Nelson. What he is saying is not inconsequential. If you pray for the spirit, it will be given to you to know and understand what he means. I would recommend you watch and listen to him far more than you are watching and listening to the world.
When things are done for popularity sake and predictions are made for consequential things, it is best not to bury your head in the sand. I can assure you that President Nelson is watching and listening to the world and the spirit does give understanding. One needs to keep their finger on the pulse of how things are received in view of the prophetic promise of extraordinary results.
Two points stand out from what was shared but not endured:
1.) The emphasis on the the Church's name has not been received well.
2.) The reaction to the "significant" event has not been received well, either, by the Protestant sector.

And he said unto me: These are the nations and kingdoms of the Gentiles.
4 And it came to pass that I saw among the nations of the Gentiles the formation of a great church.
5 And the angel said unto me: Behold the formation of a church which is most abominable above all other churches, which slayeth the saints of God, yea, and tortureth them and bindeth them down, and yoketh them with a yoke of iron, and bringeth them down into captivity.
6 And it came to pass that I beheld this great and abominable church; and I saw the devil that he was the founder of it.
7 And I also saw gold, and silver, and silks, and scarlets, and fine-twined linen, and all manner of precious clothing; and I saw many harlots.
8 And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the gold, and the silver, and the silks, and the scarlets, and the fine-twined linen, and the precious clothing, and the harlots, are the desires of this great and abominable church.
9 And also for the praise of the world do they destroy the saints of God, and bring them down into captivity.....
And now we are shaking hands with leaders of the " great and abominable church of the devil"...

Not just shaking hands, but Nelson gives high praise to His Holiness. Their meeting ended with an embrace.
"His Holiness, he was most gracious and warm and welcoming," said President Nelson. He continued, "What a sweet, wonderful man he is, and how fortunate the Catholic people are to have such a gracious, concerned, loving and capable leader."

A few years ago I happened upon a short newspaper article that said the Pope Francis was baptized into the Mormon Church. Luckily, I copied it and you can read it below:
VATICAN CITY— In the wake of the worldwide colloquium on the family hosted by the Catholic Church in the Vatican City, religious leaders from all over the world have gathered together to discuss issues regarding marriage and the family.
In attendance is first counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, President Henry B. Eyring, as well as other notable LDS leaders.
Reports are slowly coming in that shed light on the interesting work happening there. Papal spokesman, Dion Algerri stated in a press release, “We are neither confirming nor denying the conversion of Pope Francis to the Mormon Church.”
Senior PR officials for the LDS Church in Salt Lake have confirmed the baptism. “When Brother Francis met President Eyring the two of them hit it off quite nicely. They immediately bonded over their love of traditional family values, Jesus Christ, and their shared haircut.”
President Eyring’s snapchat story shows the two taking a selfie, with the word “#twinners” posted across it.
Brigham Smith Young McKay, another PR official for the Church continued by saying, “The two immediately felt a connection. Brother Francis came to President Eyring’s room where Elder Perry shared the first three discussions. After hearing the truth of the restored gospel, Brother Francis demanded to be baptized immediately.”
“We had to find the closest meeting house in Rome for do the actual baptism”, said Bishop Gérald Caussé. “All of the fonts in St. Peter’s Basilica are made for infants, not grown men!”
It is still not known if Pope Brother Francis will encourage the rest of the world’s Catholics to join the LDS church. President Monson said that all would be welcome, and reiterated the well known truth that Catholics make great Mormons.

Yesterday I went to the link posted for this story and it said the page I wanted has been removed or did not exist. Anyway a few years ago when I first encountered this story I thought it was a hoax so I just squirreled it away and didn’t mention it to anyone. But recently with all the hoopla about the new temple being dedicated in Rome and with all the flattering words President Nelson and Elder Ballard has directed toward Pope Francis, this story has come to the forefront of my mind and I’ve had some thoughts regarding it.
The baptism of Pope Francis into the Mormon Church reeks of a quid-quo-pro arrangement where the Pope is baptized into the Mormon Church with the expectation that since he joined the Mormon Church Pope Francis expects the Mormon leadership to return the favor by joining in the ecumenical movement of the Catholic Church. I think this scenario has been in the planning stages for a number of years because before July 30, 2012 when the ground breaking ceremony for the temple occurred, the Italian government and the Vatican State recognized the Mormon Church as only a “charitable institution” but after that date they were upgraded by these governmental entities and officially recognized as a bona-fide “religious denomination.”
Like I said when I first read this story I initially thought it was a hoax, now I’m not sure because there are pieces of facts interspersed throughout the story, for example, the silent 800 lb. gorilla in the room present—ecumenicalism. Another example is secrecy, secrecy is the hallmark of Satan and if this is not a hoax then this event is indeed secret. Then there is the typical obfuscation indicative of all white-color crime where the article says a Vatican spokesman “neither confirms nor denies the conversion of Pope Francis into the Mormon Church.” Gee, if such an earthshaking event was not true and you wanted to distance yourself from the leprosy of Mormonism you certainly wouldn’t vacillate on whether a rumor this big was true or not. It’s a crystal clear issue, either it happened or it didn’t—no maybe about it!
It’s at least an open question. Is the Pope’s baptism into the Mormon Church payment in exchange for L.D.S. leadership cooperation to play an active role in the Pope’s ecumenical agenda? Or how about an official church endorsement for ecumenicalism, who could possibly be against—unity? Is this what President Russell M. Nelson meant when he told members to “hold on to their hats, get your rest and take your vitamins because things are about to get exciting?”

For all those naysayers who say that modern prophets don't prophecy, they're going to need to take a fresh look at their beliefs. In my opinion, of course.
Count me among the naysayers, I guess, because I don't see any prophecy here. "Things are going to move forward at an accelerated pace, of which this is a part," what does that mean, exactly? What "things" and how is "moving forward" defined?
"The church is going to have an unprecedented future, unparalleled; we're just building up to what's ahead now." Again, this statement is vague enough that it could be applied to anything. In fact his whole "prophecy" just sounds like the kind of vague business-speak that you hear in sales meetings when reps don't have any specific numbers to tout.
For example, is Nelson saying that they are going to start dedicating temples at a pace that exceeds the 34 that were dedicated in 2000? Is this a prophecy about numbers of new baptisms or tithing revenue or what? And how far in the future are we talking about? A year, ten years, a hundred?
There is no way to tell whether this "prophecy" actually comes to pass or not, and (in my opinion, of course) that's by design. It sounds like he's saying something bold, but when you unpack what he actually said, it's so vague it could mean anything.
Funny, people may have said the same about Isaiah's prophecies, or John's.

I would say that most popes over the centuries have been psychopaths. That said some were devout, some were power-hungry and some were just perverts.
The Catholic people, on the other hand, are not a reflection of the popes for the most part.

I was sad when his restaurant in Phoenix closed a couple years ago. Here's more info on his "Mormon" links -
https://www.mormonmatters.org/tackling- ... ce-cooper/
Alice Cooper was born with the name Vincent Damon Furnier in Detroit, Michigan. His father was a preacher by the name of Ether Moroni Furnier for The Church of Jesus Christ, based in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. Cooper’s grandfather Thurman Sylvester Furnier served as an apostle for the church. The church is also known as the Bickertonite church, and has roots with Sidney Rigdon. According to Cooper’s biography, he was active in the church until the age of 11 or 12. His family moved to Phoenix, Arizona when he was about 16 years old.
Rigdon and Young excommunicated each other. Rigdon went back to Pittsburgh and started his own church. Sidney’s Rigdon’s Church of Jesus Christ of the Children of Zion disintegrated within a decade after his death. … But the Church of Jesus Christ, a small sect organized in 1862 by William Bickerton, still venerates Rigdon. The Bickertonite Church is the 3rd largest Mormon sect, behind the LDS Church and RLDS Church (known now as the Community of Christ.) Alice Cooper’s grandfather was an apostle of this church.

9 And also for the praise of the world do they destroy the saints of God, and bring them down into captivity.....
And now we are shaking hands with leaders of the " great and abominable church of the devil"...
The Catholic Church may be part of the great and abominable church, but it isn't, in and of itself, the great and abominable church of the devil.
The early apostles/missionaries etc. sure taught that it was the Catholic church. But today we are politically correct, so it goes....

Not just shaking hands, but Nelson gives high praise to His Holiness.
Eww, I hope President Nelson washed his hands thoroughly afterwards.

I predict that President Nelson words about "This is a hinge point in the history of the church. Things are going to move forward at an accelerated pace, of which this is a part," "The church is going to have an unprecedented future, unparalleled; we're just building up to what's ahead now." I predict these words are not positive words of prophesy but negative words apostasy in the LDS church. Look at how President Nelson and Russell M. Ballard oozed with praise of Pope Francis as “Holy Father” and although “we have doctrinal differences the things we have in common are more important” I just wonder if President Nelson kissed the ring of the Pope and exchanged the Luciferian handgrip. Yes, the overkill of how wonderful Pope Francis is, was nauseating to me, like an inch of rich frosting on a humble cake.
I’ve been keeping tabs on Pope Francis the last few years and he is in a precipitous decline as a Pope when compared to all other Popes. He’s changed the Eucharist and allowed it to be administered by clowns—literally. He has said: “there is no hell,” and when asked about the rightness or wrongness of homosexuality he responded—“who am I to judge.” Then he is quoted to have said that “Christ was a sinner” and that “his mission was a failure, because he ended up dead on the cross.” He also introduced the Tango into the liturgy, no kidding people dancing at mass. He has allowed homosexuals and paedophiles to serve as cardinals and bishops. The orthodox members of the Catholic Church are at their end wits as to how to get rid of Pope Francis, there is no protocol in their church on how to get rid of a renegade Pope. Carlo Vigano was a high ranking church official, only 3rd from the Pope himself, and recently demanded Pope Francis resign for all the corruption that fills the Catholic Church “from top to bottom.” Now VIgano has gone into hiding for fear of his life. In this context we have the LDS leadership show up heaping loads and loads of flattery on “his Holiness.” Does anyone see something wrong with this picture. Are you prepared to be absorbed into this vortex via interfaith projects and the ecumenical goal of building bridges and finding common ground with the Devil.
Your comments are a perfect example of a hinge, that upon which things turn. You are taking his comments here, and no doubt his other comments and teachings one way. Others will go another way. These things are a hinge, a separator, a colander, a sieve.

5 And the angel said unto me: Behold the formation of a church which is most abominable above all other churches, which slayeth the saints of God, yea, and tortureth them and bindeth them down, and yoketh them with a yoke of iron, and bringeth them down into captivity.

I'm not being politically correct.
I equate the GAAC with *the* secret combination spoken of by Moroni. That organization is a) way bigger Catholic Church and b) secret. I wouldn't be surprised if the Catholic Church was the original front/cover for the GAAC, but just because we call it a church, doesn't mean it has to be a recognized religious organization. The membership of the GAAC is anyone who is not aligned with Jesus Christ through covenants. The leadership consists of powerful men throughout the world, some who may be leaders of the Catholic Church. But to limit the GAAC to the Catholic Church is missing the bigger picture, imo.
I think the Catholic Church is as evil an organization as they come, btw, and definitely full of abomination. Not refuting that fact.

The church of the Lamb of God, is NOT the Mormon church.

purple
do you know what religion uses purple ?
church of the devil, the whore, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS,
"that great and abominable church, which is the mother of abominations, whose founder is the devil."
read carefully the scriptures below.
(*** my notes)
1 Nephi 14
19 And I looked and beheld a man, and he was dressed in a white robe.
20 And the angel said unto me: Behold one of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. *** John
21 Behold, he shall see and write the remainder of these things; yea, and also many things which have been.
22 And he shall also write concerning the end of the world. *** in the book of Revelation by John
23 Wherefore, the things which he shall write are just and true; and behold they are written in the book which thou beheld proceeding out of the mouth of the Jew; and at the time they proceeded out of the mouth of the Jew, or, at the time the book proceeded out of the mouth of the Jew, the things which were written were plain and pure, and most precious and easy to the understanding of all men.
*** the Bible is the book that proceeded out of the mouth of the Jew;
which "plain and pure, and most precious" things were removed by the Catholic church.
24 And behold, the things which this apostle of the Lamb shall write are many things which thou hast seen; and behold, the remainder shalt thou see. *** apostle John
25 But the things which thou shalt see hereafter thou shalt not write; for the Lord God hath ordained the apostle of the Lamb of God that he should write them. *** again John
26 And also others who have been, to them hath he shown all things, and they have written them; and they are sealed up to come forth in their purity, according to the truth which is in the Lamb, in the own due time of the Lord, unto the house of Israel.
27 And I, Nephi, heard and bear record, that the name of the apostle of the Lamb was John, according to the word of the angel.
The Revelation
of St John the Divine
Chapter 17
John is shown that Babylon the great, the mother of harlots and abominations, has become established throughout the earth.
1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
(The great CITY of Rome (located in Italy) has been long known as the, "City of the Seven Hills" or the "City of Seven hills". An excerpt from A Woman Rides the Beast by Dave Hunt (p. 67, emphases ours)-- )
(Only one city has for more than 2000 years been known as the city on seven hills. That city is Rome. The Catholic Encyclopedia states: "It is within the city of Rome, called the city of seven hills, that the entire area of Vatican State proper is now confined.")
10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

quotes
There are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth . . .
MOUNTAIN, n. ...We apply mountain to the largest eminences on the globe; but sometimes the word is used for a large HILL...
Okay, (1) there are seven mountains on which the woman sitteth. . . and
(2) the woman is that great city. . .
Revelation 17:18 And THE WOMAN which thou sawest IS THAT GREAT CITY, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
THE WOMAN IS THAT GREAT CITY THAT SITS ON SEVEN MOUNTAINS. . .

The following list includes the names of the seven mountains known as the "Seven Hills of Rome"--
Palatine
Capitoline
Aventine
Caelian (Caelius)
Esquiline
Viminal
Quirinal
An excerpt from the Funk & Wagnalls Standard Reference Encyclopedia (c. 1965) under the entry for "Rome"--
As a result of construction activities through the centuries, most of the Seven Hills are hardly distinguishable, in modern times, from the adjacent plain.
Rome is still styled the City of the Seven Hills, however.
Excerpts from The Antichrist Slideshow, concerning the seven mountains of Revelation 17:9--
The New American Bible (NAB), is a Catholic Bible which has the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur (official Catholic declarations that a book or pamphlet is free of doctrinal or moral error). The "School and Church Edition (1994-1995)" of the NAB says this concerning the Great Whore of Revelation 17 (emphases ours)--
17, 1-6, Babylon, the symbolic name (5) of Rome, is graphically described as "the great harlot".
17, 9 Here is a clue: literally, "Here a mind that has wisdom."
Seven hills: of Rome.
----------------------------------
"Fourth, the Mother or Harlots is decked with scarlet, which is the color of the Roman Church. Scarlet is everywhere in their worship, vestments, and art. But, the beast too is scarlet. This dye is beyond our scarlet today to have a tinge of blue in it. It is extracted from a species of oak in Spain. It is not associated with Arabia. Thus, the home territory of scarlet, the Whore, and the Beast are Europe. They do not stay there though.
Finally, there is a definition parallel here that is interesting. The word Ephah also means gloomy or darkness in the Hebrew. Thus, the woman in the Ephah is dark, or "this is wickedness" as in verse 8 above.
No other work fits the Roman Catholic Church, AND the united world religions as they come together. The ongoing picture of this wickedness as I write is Rick Warren and his mad frenzy to unite world politics, business, and religion.
This is the seat (see photo below of the Vatican) of the most prominent whore church today. I personally have heard Roman Catholics, including one missionary priest, tell me that the Vatican is full of Satanism, Masonry, and witchcraft and is indeed a whore as to Christian teaching.
Soon, all world religion will unite into THE whore, the last great wicked harlot monster of religious compromise.
World Christendom and world religions, will unite with the Whore of Babylon, or shall we say this.... The Whore is the counterfeit of the Bride of Christ. The beast is the EU which the Whore rides. This perhaps is clearer for our understanding. We rejoice though, for the end of the Whore and the Beast are a great blessing and cause for us to rejoice even as we watch the deluded strategies of evil European leaders today.
If you are in a church organization which looks on world unity and ecumenical efforts as desirable, you are IN the Whore Church, and you will either get OUT of her, or you will be damned to hell and consumed by the wrath of a holy God. "
