Why are Utahns so vain?

Post by Benaishtart »

I’m sure this has been brought up before but I haven’t seen anything. What’s up now with coolscultping and tummy tucks and bOOb jobs and all sorts of other stuff? Why is it so popular here in Utah? Are we really just as shallow as Beverly Hills? Common Draper and Alpine! Does every woman really need to be a barby?

Why do you care? Most of your posts seem to be about women doing something wrong, or something about their bodies etc.. Did you have a female boss at work and you just can't handle it? Seems to me you should find another subject to pray and study about.

Let's try an exercise. Try to make an equal number of complaints about men. Once you do that, try to stop caring about other people's personal decisions. Let me know how it goes!

Utah has beautiful women...this a fact you'll hear from multiple out of state prospective.
I doubt there is as many girls who have plastic surgery as you think.

A better question is why they have to dress so immodest. It's ridiculous...

Isaiahs description of their dress is spot

Utah did more breast implants per capita than any other state," Klomp said. "It's not a new thing, it's been going on for awhile."

UWLP Director Susan Madsen said there are no hard-and-fast reasons as to why Utah women are more susceptible to getting elective plastic surgery, but education levels and homogeneity may have something to do with it.

"We're lower than the national average when it comes to women getting an education," Madsen said. "The research tells us that less educated women will have more plastic surgery, and women who are educated seem to have a bit more confidence built-in."

Since so many Utah women belong in the same religious group, Madsen said it's easy for them to compare themselves against others based on their outward appearance.

Additionally, Madsen said some research shows women in general lean toward an unattainable image of perfection, and some state researchers believe that desire is even stronger in the Beehive State. Others attribute it to Utahns typically being more health-oriented, therefore oriented on outward appearance as well.

Salt Lake City is ranked #6 for cities with the most plastic surgeons -

No. 6: Salt Lake City, Utah Of course. Utah's capital and biggest, most well-known city was also ranked "America's Vainest" in Forbes.com's survey back in 2007, which also utilized ASPS data, not to mention "Fittest City in America" by "Men's Fitness". But since we found that Salt Lake City had about 24 plastic surgeons per 100,000 people, we thought it still deserved a pretty high spot in our survey.

I've heard there is quite a link to the number of wives having plastic surgery in Utah, and the number of husbands watching porn in Utah. Maybe Benaishtart could tackle that theory.

I have to admit there are a lot of horny guys in Utah who just want hairstylist (nothing against hairtstylists, just a stereotype) wives right after their missions and are essentially still teenagers. And get married in a few weeks. It’s just based on we know what. Then after 3-4 kids these ladies aren’t 19 anymore and have to get fixed. The most superficial men I’ve ever met have been in Utah.

I don't know about the women, but my son didn't like his missionary companions from Utah. They called them U-tards and they always had a picture of a general authority in their wallet. He said they were arrogant. Just sayin...

My son said that one of the blessings he had on his mission was never having a companion from Utah or the Mormon Corridor. The closest came from CA, and several were from Mexico/South America.

He served in Southern Utah, Spanish speaking.

Utah has had the highest incidents of eating disorders. Surely the gospel of perfection is a factor but not the factor. You can see the general authorities address this issue quite regularly in conference and in publications.

Just sayin what my son said after spending 2 years in MormonLand. He was raised 1500 miles away with only a few LDS in his graduating class of 500. Small town, only one big High School.

Most of my companions said the same things about me and I was from Oregon. I was quite a handsome guy on my mission having been quite involved in bodybuilding before my mission. Of course since I was a bit older than usual I was naturally perceived as being brilliant and exceptionally mature. I finally found my way to Utah so that I could be with my own people. There is something very comforting about shared arrogance. I mean really it can be like such a drag to be better than everyone around you, smarter, better looking and not be able to bask in the light of others so richly blessed.

Still it is not always sunny in paradise. I mean even though I am here with so many others who are almost as great as me --- and don't get me wrong it really is a better place to be but they still aren't really as good as I am and so I still suffer a bit with feeling like I could do better if maybe I could find somewhere that really spoke to me. Greatness is somewhat of a burden but those of us so blessed must simply push on. I'm kind of thinking these days that maybe I should consider moving to somewhere where the extremely elite folks gather ... where I can breathe that rarified air of the super wonderful. You know Mr. Or Mrs. Tart I was kind of wondering where you live sounds like just my kind of people. I'm sure I'll feel right at home.... 8-)

I too was a missionary from Utah. I would say the laziest, most rule-breaking companions I had all came from outside of Utah. (Idaho, Hawaii, Pennsylvania). Although my favorite companion was from Washington. Probably depends on who’s doing the judging.

At last! The real brlenox reveals himself. I was waiting for that. But unforunately, it kind of reminds me of "being an army of one". Lots of luck with that one . . . . meaning it could very well be that you simply won't find a society with sufficient numbers to companion with who are also as elevated as yourself  :P

The good news brlenox, displaying this kind of bravado certainly must mean you are feeling fairly healthy. Excellent, if so.

I didn't real all the responses.

Where I am in Utah, I like the women. Mostly natural. That's what I like.

Now, I moved here a year and a half ago from 45 years in Los Angeles.

If you want to see oceans of vanity, egotism, self righteousness, and every and all other vices and sins, go down there. And you will see more tattoos, bleached hair, metal in various body parts and other horrors that I am now spared the sight of, Thank God!!! Amen.

I should also mention, most of it is ... ethnic something or other. All very hard to tell what.

You know Mr. Or Mrs. Tart I was kind of wondering where you live sounds like just my kind of people. I'm sure I'll feel right at home.... 8-)
I have the secret. Just come to the Netherlands. Obviously, the very finest of the finest, of the finest church members are from this country, I mean ( blush) look at me!
Well, it is very apparent that your presence is unparalleled, in fact your whole family seems to be of incomparable beauty. Perhaps I should abandon my inclinations of Tartville and consider the Netherlands...where the truly great people are...

In all humility, I have to admit that the tulips aren't bad either.
I’d move to The Netherlands in a heartbeat if the wife would. Used to ride to Maastricht all the time........ah my younger days.

What’s up now with coolscultping and tummy tucks and bOOb jobs and all sorts of other stuff? Why is it so popular here in Utah? Are we really just as shallow as Beverly Hills? Common Draper and Alpine! Does every woman really need to be a barby?
Prophets saw our day and were disappointed. The whole Zoramite story is for US! We are as the Zoramites (that reminds me of a song lol).

Read that chapter during fast and testimony meeting. Also regarding women and men being “fake” or getting surgery the first few posts were women defending women and men defending men. Why? We are all at fault and things like this drive a wedge in between the genders and fuels the whole feminist and equality movement. Don’t play their game.

Leave Babylon. Too bad our Zion that was established ended up inviting Babylon with open arms.
