Re: What I Learned

this week I learned to importance of serving others, I learned this when reading this verse that teaches about Christ washing the feet of his disciples. “14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.” This teaches me a super amazing lesson that even Christ, the son of God here on earth sets an example by serving others and teaching his disciples to serve others. I ask myself what it means to have your feet washed and to was others feet and while I was studying the scriptures through this lesson I found that this is simple service to others and blessings received by serving others. I think that this is cool because we are taught about service from day one and just now at this time in my life I think about the principle of losing yourself in service, and only then can we find happiness. I also had a thought about humility when reading through my classmates discussions, its a huge deal in humility for someone who is so high up in the minds of so many people to stoop to the ground and wash the feet of someone who is supposed to be serving instead of being served, to me that is a great learning experience where we don't have to just serve those that seem better than us or are older than us but everyone including those that may not have as much opportunity or worldly things as you do.

if you were to ask christ one question of how to be a better neighbor or better christian what would it be?

Christ taught an amazing message in this weeks lesson, he teaches the lesson of faith in him and our Father in Heaven and also along with that the importance of spreading the word about faith to those around us. In all of these chapter he repeatedly tells each of us (through him telling his deciples) to go and spread the word and to tell everyone the things that we see and the things we experience and the things that we learn through faith and following the commandments and examples of God the Father and his only begotten son. I love what he says in Matthew "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Furthermore he doesn't just say to teach to friends, or to teach to members of the church, or to teach to those who are sinners, but rather to every creature.
I also learned the importance of reading each verse for purpose and reading for understanding rather than just skimming through the weeks reading, I learned this through experience. I found that when I really tried to find an answer and to get something out of the scriptures, I was able to understand and feel the spirit much simpler and quicker.
