Mission changes rumor
Has anyone heard anything reliable about potential mission changes. With all that’s happened the last few months I think we might be on the verge of something new. Age/time change? More options? What’s going on?

Re: Mission changes rumor
I often wonder about what motivates changes - like were too many getting flashed by sister missionaries wearing skirts riding bikes - wrong message being sent?

Maybe if we were living in the 1800s again. Garment bottons are much more modest than most things women parade around in these days.

Re: Mission changes rumor
I heard from a family member serving in Japan that there are going to be changes to Asian missions. They emphasized that they represent languages spoken by a quarter of the world and how vital they were to future missionary work. These changes are to be announced at a regional mission conference after general conference.
I can't imagine they would be opening China, though. They still persecute Christians there, so I am not sure what those changes could be. Maybe just leadership, or emphasis.

Re: Mission changes rumor
That's always been the weird thing about mission dress standards for women to me. No non LDS person would think it was modest to ride a bike in a skirt. Also, sisters, show me your legs to preserve modesty? But not the fact that you have two of them in slacks? They still have to show their legs to be modestly dressed around LDS male leadership, just not the general public.
It really makes no sense.

The issue with trousers is the shape they reveal, if you get my meaning.mtm411 wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 10:56 amThat's always been the weird thing about mission dress standards for women to me. Speaking as a man I can say that figure hugging trousers are much less modest than most skirts.

As a woman, I like men's outlines in trousers as well. No one's protecting my pure thoughts.Robin Hood wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 11:05 amThe issue with trousers is the shape they reveal, if you get my meaning.mtm411 wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 10:56 amThat's always been the weird thing about mission dress standards for women to me. I read somewhere that one reason some regions were recommending that the sisters wear pants was to protect their legs fron insects.

Re: Mission changes rumor
and it increases risk of sexual assault. All our sisters aren't exactly at Temple square. Riding public transit in some areas in a dress or skirt is seen as practically asking for it. Especially when the sisters already stand out as Caucasian Americans.

Goodness does EVERYTHING have to be left up to the imagination? Why dont we just force them to cover their faces with veils, as well?Robin Hood wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 11:05 amThe issue with trousers is the shape they reveal, if you get my meaning.mtm411 wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 10:56 amThat's always been the weird thing about mission dress standards for women to me. True! We should require all sister missionaries to enter all beauty contests in their missions, especially if they have a bathing suit section.thestock wrote: ↑March 6th, 2019, 1:04 pmGoodness does EVERYTHING have to be left up to the imagination?
