Donation slips being discontinued?
A good friend of mine is a Ward Clerk and he informed me today that when he went to order a new batch of donation slips since his ward was low on them, he learned that the church is no longer producing any more of them and that there will be no more shipments of them either. Has anyone else had this experience or does anyone else know anything more about this? We have some ideas as to why this may be but they're just mere speculation of course. Can anyone chime in on it? It may be that the church wants to eliminate paper altogether and have all donations done online, but how would little kids who love to give the Bishop an envelope with 10 cents inside pay their tithing? You also have to have an account online and membership record # to donate through the church's website. I can't imagine the church is going to say 'we're now self-sustaining and thus the Lord no longer requires contributions from church members', even though it does have $32 billion in the stock market to play with/gamble? Thoughts?

Re: Donation slips being discontinued?
We have loved paying online. It is so much easier!!!! The only reason we still pay fast offerings via "donation slip" is because I feel it is a good thing to help teach the young men responsibility as a deacon. As a mother of 5 boys, they all took their turn collecting fast offerings. When they complained and didn't want to do it, I reminded them that as holders of the Aaronic Priesthood it was their privilege and duty. That they were to help "watch over the church [and are] standing ministers unto the church" This includes setting a good example.
I certainly wouldn't complain if this were true though

Re: Donation slips being discontinued?
We've paid tithing online for years, as well. We started doing things differently after my husband caught a man in the ward who had no business even being in the clerk's office, going through the filing cabinet where all the ward's tithing information was kept (this was many years ago when everything was still on paper). Upon the bishop questioning him, he finally admitted that he just wanted to see what other men in the ward were earning.
That was the last straw for us, as far as donating anything via our local ward. We then starting mailing checks to Church HQ - then when the online option became a thing, we've done it that way ever since.
I'll ask hubby - he's the stake clerk and should know if this is a legit change (I would think, haha, who knows though). Get back to you later.

No problem in the UK, but we don't have online donation here.
Not sure why, probably something to do with Gift Aid (tax deductable giving).

Re: Donation slips being discontinued?
I'm an assistant clerk so I'll have to ask among my own ward. I can't imagine slips going away entirely, maybe the current version is being discontinued and an overhaul soon to be released? Maybe it'll be a few line items between "Tithing", "Fast Offering", "Ward Mission Fund", and "Other/Misc" in light of the fine print that's been appearing on the slips saying some of the categories aren't guaranteed to be used in the manner indicated by the donator.
Or maybe it really is just expecting all to pay online here in the States and elsewhere that's as connected as we are and that children wishing to donate will need to do so via their parents, but still under their own name. That would certainly make my time on Sundays go faster, only needing to stay most weeks when there are checks to cut. There is one family in our ward who has at least one kid that delivers an envelope just about every weak, and often times full of coin. Got to admire there selflessness though!
Or maybe there's a big announcement coming in this next Conference that will say the Church has amassed all the financial resources it now needs to carry out its mission until the abomination of desolation or something?

I guess we're ahead of the game in this regard, as we abandoned cheques a couple of years ago. All ward reimbusements or welfare payments are done by electronic bank transfer here. There are no ward cheque books anymore.WickerWeaver wrote: ↑March 5th, 2019, 3:01 pm That would certainly make my time on Sundays go faster, only needing to stay most weeks when there are checks to cut.

Re: Donation slips being discontinued?
Just heard back from my husband - he said, "The church has been moving in that direction for a few years now. There has been a very large reduction in the number of donations that get handed in weekly. I tried to order more just now, but was unable to. Looks like this is the end of paper donation slips."

Just checked it, and can confirm. Although you can still order Fast Offering envelopes, and Donation in Kind forms. No tithing slips right now however. Might be redoing it. Guess we'll see.

4 witnesses. Can't beat that.
I wonder if there will be an announcement of some kind? Unless they're just revamping the current slips.

Re: Donation slips being discontinued?
They can’t eliminate altogether I would imagine as little kids and people that only pay in cash will still need to donate. We have a family in our ward that pays for everything with cash. I don’t think they even have a checking account. I’m not sure how it’s possible, but they do it. We also have cases in our ward where members outside the ward send checks in to cover missionaries from our ward, so that would need to be figured out as well.

We are moving to a cashless society. The church is just doing it's part to combat drugs and stuff.

Let's join Babylon's financial system... 100%...
I mean, why not...?? Certainly a bunch of GA's have perfect experience and knowledge of the Babylonian financial system to excel and use it to their advantage. And as such... they see no evil in participating in it in every manner.

Maybe those GA's realize we should be paying with a cryptocurrency of the Lord's choosing, such as TheChurchofJesusChristOfLatterDaySaintsCoin?JK4Woods wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 3:19 pm Let's join Babylon's financial system... 100%...

Hey, RH, do the Strangites capitalize their "D"? Is that the difference in our names?

Re: Donation slips being discontinued?
So some can and some can't? Maybe they are printing new ones and some places have run out of the old ones already?
Did you 4 (who said you can't order them) order from SLC directly or somewhere else?
