"The End of High Fertility is Near"
Finding accurate population data grows harder each year.
It was speculated within the last decade that population for the planet may peak in 2050. Within 2 years of seeing that UN report, I believed that we would likely see the population peak in the 2030s. I still think that is the case when you combine the continued lowering of fertility rates with the significant increase in euthanasia.

Here is a gem from October of 2017.

A couple of reports that I would hate to lose access to:

Re: "The End of High Fertility is Near"
You can see from the chart at the top of page 27 in this 2017 UN report that having more than 5 children will be statistically irrelevant past 2045 because so few people are projected to do so.
In fact from 2045-2050 it is predicted that 69% of the world's population will reproduce at below replacement fertility and only 31% at replacement rates.
https://population.un.org/wpp/Publicati ... Tables.pdf
When you read the reports you realize that even that is optimistic.
We are soon about to be few enough that child may number us.

Re: "The End of High Fertility is Near"
Humans tend to conform their attitudes, practices and beliefs to those around them. When marriage and children were the ideal for both liberal and conservative people there really was not much difference in birthrates and marriage rates for people in either category. Then feminism started promoting the idea of women in the workforce. Initially feminists sought equal pay for equal work and protections from being fired if they got pregnant. Nothing wrong with that. Then you got a push from NGOs, foundations, and government entities for population reduction. When childless-by-choice and abortion rights were added to the mix the norms were no longer marriage and kids. You had women maybe have one child to satisfy the maternal urges but within a generation it became more common to have large numbers of women skipping marriage and family completely. The norm for babies became a mere lifestyle choice and many chose cats and trips to Belize and Ghana (you know what middle income liberal white women, in particular, do there of course). Then conservatives began to adopt the "ideals" of the world. Southern Christians today see having more than two kids weird or a sign of being "white trash" and so in a generation they will have the low birthrates of liberal peoples living around San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, etc. Mormons are where the southern Christians were a generation ago and unless Church leaders speak out more we will, in two generations be an insignificant demographic in sharp decline as well.
This pattern could wind up repeating worldwide, even eventually in Muslim populations.
To think that everyone will just grow up and marry and make at least a few babies is naive. There could easily be a time in the future where many towns and even small metropolitan areas turn into ghost towns. When the Roman Empire collapsed you had Rome go from over a million people to only a few thousand at one point. That may be the future of earth.

Does anyone have the source to the quote that one day only LDS women would be willing to have children. President Nelson really needs to push us to have more kids.

“We should post ourselves regarding the prophecies which have been predicted. I will mention one in particular that was uttered by the prophet Joseph Smith, he said the time would come when none but the women of the Latter Day Saints would be willing to bear children. I would advise those only to marry who would be willing to take the responsibility of raising a family”

One wonders what constraints the powers-that-be, the really deep, deep state, impose upon our Church leaders in regards to issues such as these.Benaishtart wrote: ↑March 5th, 2019, 2:56 pm Does anyone have the source to the quote that one day only LDS women would be willing to have children. My dad has 3 little rescue dogs. He raised his kids and now enjoys his little dogs. I can easily see how pets out number kids. I know many retired people who have many pets. I have 13 pets to my 4 kids.Michelle wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 9:31 am"Pets Outnumber Children 4 to 1 in America"

Re: "The End of High Fertility is Near"
What do you think the church leaders could do to discourage this trend? Children are seen as a burden by most in my ward. Even women who are grandmother age don't like to babysit their grandkids and don't help with them. They want to be free to go on missions and do their hobbies. It isn't just the women, either. My friends' husband who is the ward EQP went and got a vasectomy because they have 2 and he didn't want to have to drive anything other than his 4 seater pick up truck. His wife was sad about it, but happy she was free to pursue her hobbies.

I thought this was kind of interesting. https://news.gallup.com/poll/164618/des ... -norm.aspx
The economics of having kids seems to be one main reason people are avoiding it.
Most people do want kids, just not a whole lot of them. A lot of non-lds people I know believe that if you have more than 2 kids you are being irresponsible and overpopulating the earth.

Re: "The End of High Fertility is Near"
We have six, and people think we are crazy for it. I was at a group with just my two youngest yesterday and the moms were going on and on about how neglectful it was to have more than 3- this was in an LDS group. They all went to church schools and grew up LDS in Utah or Idaho. Children are a burden, increasingly so, and it makes me sad. How did we lose our way?Sarah wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 3:00 pm I thought this was kind of interesting. https://news.gallup.com/poll/164618/des ... -norm.aspx

Re: "The End of High Fertility is Near"
"As men, being unable to bear discreetly a satiety of these things, get restive like cattle, and become stiff-necked, and discard the laws of nature, pursuing a great and intemperate indulgence of gluttony, and drinking, and unlawful connections; for not only did they go mad after other women, and defile the marriage bed of others, but also those who were men lusted after one another, doing unseemly things, and not regarding or respecting their common nature, and though eager for children, they were convicted by having only an abortive offspring; but the conviction produced no advantage, since they were overcome by violent desire; and so by degrees, the men became accustomed to be treated like women, and in this way engendered among themselves the disease of females, and intolerable evil; for they not only, as to effeminacy and delicacy, became like women in their persons, but they also made their souls most ignoble, corrupting in this way the whole race of men, as far as depended on them" (133-35; ET Jonge 422-23) -Philo (describing Sodom and Gomorrah)

Re: "The End of High Fertility is Near"
When women are given healthcare and the birth control, they use it to flee motherhood. When you indoctrinate girls with feminist ideologies and delusions, they flee motherhood. When you distract little girls with delusions about being superior to men, they abandon female roles and try and pretend to be men, thus fleeing the possibility of motherhood.

Re: "The End of High Fertility is Near"
Getting a vasectomy is wrong! How have changed so much since Saturday’s Warrior? The church needs to do something ASAP to promote having kids. President Nelson had 10 kids. He knows the value of having a posterity and the true power of the priesthood. I can’t understood how someone would make someone infertile. It prevents their increase. Why expect to have increase in the eternities now if you eliminate it hear. It’s high time we start teaching the real Doctrinen of the Family again.

So I'm a little confused with this quote. The men were treated like women how?FattyArBeltBuckle wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 4:05 pm "As men, being unable to bear discreetly a satiety of these things, get restive like cattle, and become stiff-necked, and discard the laws of nature, pursuing a great and intemperate indulgence of gluttony, and drinking, and unlawful connections; for not only did they go mad after other women, and defile the marriage bed of others, but also those who were men lusted after one another, doing unseemly things, and not regarding or respecting their common nature, and though eager for children, they were convicted by having only an abortive offspring; but the conviction produced no advantage, since they were overcome by violent desire; and so by degrees, the men became accustomed to be treated like women, and in this way engendered among themselves the disease of females, and intolerable evil; for they not only, as to effeminacy and delicacy, became like women in their persons, but they also made their souls most ignoble, corrupting in this way the whole race of men, as far as depended on them" (133-35; ET Jonge 422-23) -Philo (describing Sodom and Gomorrah)

When men are given birth control and freedom, they flee fatherhood. When you indoctrinate men that women are a burden and mean and selfish, they flee fatherhood. When you distract little boys with delusions of having sex whenever they want it, they flee fatherhood. Women abandoning motherhood is directly related to how husbands and fathers have treated their wives and children. Many women say it is not worth it to be under control of a man. Most all women want to be wives and mothers, but Feminism is in large part a rebellion against bad men who have made this choice unattractive, and many times unbearable, and also as a result of men abandoning their wives.FattyArBeltBuckle wrote: ↑March 7th, 2019, 4:21 pm When women are given healthcare and the birth control, they use it to flee motherhood.
