I love it that my son who is a perspective Elder can go and sit with his dad who was a High Priest. He doesn't feel lonely since all of his friends are away at school or on missions...he has his dad!
It's good when Elders have perspective.
A question for some of you who have been bishops or sat in related meetings. How did they refer to us old elders behind closed doors? Were we prospective High Priests? or were there other deragatory terms for us?
It's not even a thing.
Never occured to me.

At one point in time a friend was extended a calling to join the high priests group (at least that's how he described it) and I was extended an invitation to join the high priests group. I declined the invitation; I really want to be extended a calling that requires ordination as a high priest and I really don't want to become a high priest because I'm too old to be an elder.
This friend described the high priests group meetings very positively; he said that the lessons and discussions were much more serious and much more gospel focused. I hoped for this kind of influence from the high priests in my ward but so far it hasn't happened. As of right now we don't have any called teachers for the quorum and we don't even have any ministering assignments. A large majority of my quorum membership is under 35 and the lessons seem entirely focused on that group. With the exception of my bishop and one other person, I don't feel welcome or wanted in my ward.

If you are old and want to be a high priest, move somewhere sparsely populated.
Live in Utah, with 200 other people who could be in the bishopric, and you might have to die first...

Soon God will change his mind and we'll have both High Priests and Elders quorum again.

My oh my... I used to hate (HATE!) Sunday School because of the shallow un prepared teaching...
Now I’m glad when it’s the Sunday School sabbath... because the new EQ is Boring!
All they do is re-hash last conference talks. From teachers who make us sit in a circle, and they themselves sit down and never use the white board or any teaching aids (except the one guy who brought in his ice axe and talked all about a mountain he climbed 30 years ago).
Anyway, it’s obvious the leadership has t a clue how to stay on doctrine and testify.
And every other EQ emphasis is on Temple attendance (where fully half the Quorum have official weekly temple assignments) or ministering, which in our ward is now an exact copy of the old home teaching program.
I guess the emphasis by Church HQ is to have us get more out of home based worship and study.... ... well it’s working..!!
