Medical Procedures - Feeling a Closeness to God

Post by Dusty52 »

2 years ago I was told I needed a double heart bypass
Within a week of being told I'd had the operation and was back home
Remarkable what the National Health System can do, and it didn't cost me a penny!
What is remarkable, besides being treated like a king whilst in hospital were the other things that occurred!
I saw my father's face
I couldn't stop holding people's hands
I felt loved, early one morning at about 2am I awoke to find a nurse looking after a wound on my neck, behind her was a doctor
I'll never forget that, it's making me cry writing it now, it was real
Perhaps the most important thing I learnt was that when it boils down to it there are only 2 things that matter in life
Love and Family!
What is sad that it is so easily forgotten
What is this all about?
If I hadn't of needed surgery I would never of experienced any of it, I think I'm a better person for it, why did this need to happen for me to feel a closeness to my Heavenly Father?
Is this common?

Unfortunately (I'll explain), it is common. In fact, I believe it's a large part of why people are sick and in the hospital, and why nurses and doctors are thought of as angels and gods.

It's nice to be reminded of and "forced" to be social at the deepest levels--that's truly a blessing.

While that happens with nurses and doctors, much of it is due to worries about being sued. Though there are definitely loving nurses and doctors, whether they do it for being sued or not.
