Do you wish to learn how to transmute lead into gold?

Post by Blessed »

If you learn to transmute a hatred into a love, you have learned the secret of true alchemy.

Sadly, the majority, I believe, will feel that they have not been given what was promised.

You do know that alchemy is against church doctrine and should not be practiced?

I believe real alchemy is at the heart of the Gospel. I believe in Him who takes the corruptible and makes it incorruptible.

I wish I may, I wish I might, I wish upon a star tonight.

No! I believe in God the father, the eternal father and his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.

I do not believe in superstition, black cats being an omen, salt over my shoulder, spinning around for ... ? Nor wishing. Nor wishing wells.

I don't wish for anything.

I'm eternally, perpetually grateful, teeming with happiness, bubbling with joy for the many blessings I now enjoy (particularly since I'm out of Los Angeles).

This is one of the great principles I have learned in my life.

The spiritual, emotional and physical miracle that takes place when you choose to turn your anger and hate into patience and love is truly miraculous. It is absolutely more valuable than knowing how to turn lead into gold.

Ignore the naysayers. Water into wine is a form of true alchemy in my book. How about the miracle of touching stones and turning them into lights and a Urim and Thummim.

Nephi said he could turn the ocean into dry land with a word. God can do anything. We shouldn't put limits on what can be done if we are on his side.

Hate to love tops them all.

I would love to know how to efficiently remove three protons and eight neutrons from lead atoms.

I don't believe I have issues with hate, but I would like to know how to get past resentment.

We already have pretty much unlimited ways of making money.

What lack is ability to share as people. Even in the church most find sharing to be completely impossible.

How to transform hate to love?
Maybe:
*Want to. Realize hate “is a poison that hurts the vessel most.”
*Understand why we do what we do. Jesus did & he was able to forgive because he saw that others “knew not what they do.”
*See how we each have behaved in negative ways - we each have need to be forgiven.
*Focus on what you’re grateful for - in various ways, including how others have helped you learn etc, it is a beginning of loving.
*The opposite of love/caring is apathy/not caring... hatred is often frustrated expectations. Love is appreciating what is while striving for what’s best... through trial & error - and learning to have realistic expectations., or “serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change what I can, & wisdom to know the difference.”

Doing healing, I've found that most people subconsciously don't forgive, and that it's key for healing. It often does take much more time, energy, and effort than we think.

Yes, sometimes I’ve thought I had forgiven (“given” at least myself to go “for”ward) but then the memory pops up and I get upset again.

I wonder why forgiveness can be so difficult. Maybe we hold on to anger or hurt because we feel empowered, or more righteous. Could be a scapegoat for other problems. Maybe it’s simply not processing it - not putting feelings into words, or not crying etc. Or if another person still acts in hurtful ways & boundaries are not kept, then it could be an obstacle to forgive.

What do you think, Johnny?

Given the prospect of some forthcoming nuclear holocaust, gold into lead might be more useful.

For a second there, I thought the title of this thread was advocating robbing banks....

Think about it.

Anger is not a primary emotion (contrary to what most psychologists believe). It is a primary emotion + judgment. When we understand that, we can break it apart and figure out the emotions and the judgment we made.

When we realize we sin, it helps us to forgive.

When we realize it's nothing compared to eternities, it helps us forgive.

When we realize MY perspective is not the only one...

When we realize that every "I can't forgive" experience is actually trauma, that opens up other ways to us. No doubt what the best healing for that is, though there are alternative means for it. These don't include pharmaceuticals. One you get on those, I suspect that forgiveness often becomes even harder.

Much of unforgiving is because we feel we have SUFFERED LOSS because of what someone did. And yes, we probably did.
None of us are profitable servants, which means Gods have SUFFERED LOSS because of us.
But God promises us that if we forgive, not only will we be rewarded much more richly in the eternities, but also in this life. And in fact, perhaps that loss saved us from a bigger loss, or that loss was actually a big gain for us. Do we have faith he can take care of things, if we leave them in his hands?

Are we going to squabble over pennies with others when he has given us a room full of riches?

Hi Johnny,
I like how you put that - especially anger being emotion plus judgment and “squabble over pennies with others when he has given us a room full of riches.”

Understanding cognitive distortions has helped me forgive. And when I have taken time to appreciate and enjoy my many blessings, I feel rich and see some previous concerns as relatively trivial. As you mentioned, faith in God - that God will handle what is beyond our control can inspire peace and forgiveness.

These are good reminders. Thank you.
