Also a few notable comments from others:“I have fond hopes for your marriages, your families, your missionaries, your local leaders, and members who will look up to you. And I hope that you will know and teach the pure doctrine of Christ, enjoy and provide blessings of the priesthood, help to gather Israel, and prepare the world for the Second Coming.”
“Missionaries are the lifeblood of the next generation and the future leaders of the Church"
"A missionary’s best friends in the local unit are the ward or branch mission leader and the ward or branch temple and family history consultant."
“It is not the Mormon Church. It is not the LDS Church. By divine decree, it is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
“There are two overarching and imperative promises of Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son which have yet to be fulfilled: the latter-day gathering of scattered Israel and the return of Jesus Christ again to the earth. It is our glorious privilege and sacred responsibility as missionaries to assist in preparing the world for these two yet-to-be-fulfilled promised,”
“The Book of Mormon is the instrument by which the promised gathering of Israel will be accomplished—it was written for our day. It is also the tangible and irrefutable evidence that Joseph Smith is the prophet of this last dispensation—the dispensation of the fulness of times, the dispensation when the world is to be prepared for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
“No true conversion takes place without the testifying, confirming, and comforting influence of the Holy Ghost.”
“Goodness alone is not sufficient to qualify for God’s greatest blessings for His sons and daughters, Priesthood ordinances are required.”
Elder Holland
(Speaking of the Book of Mormon) “I fear however much we revere this record as the keystone of the Restoration, we haven’t revered it enough,”
"The Book of Mormon is the preeminent net God has prepared for missionaries to gather scattered Israel in these last days, It is His definitive latter-day declaration regarding the atoning sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is His great revelation of the greatest revelation He has ever given to mankind—the life, teaching, and eternal mission of His Only Begotten Son.”
“We know of no other book about which the Son of God Himself has said, ‘As your Lord and your God liveth it is true. … And I, Jesus Christ, … have spoken it … that I might bring about my righteous purposes unto the children of men"
Elder Bednar
“God uses a variety of patterns to convey His revelations to His sons and daughters, such as thoughts to the mind and feelings to the heart, dreams, visions, conversations with heavenly messengers, and inspiration. Some revelations are received immediately and intensely; some are recognized gradually and subtly.”
“We do not have to recognize in the moment we are receiving revelation that we are receiving revelation, Simply be good. Remember and honor your ordinances and covenants. Just go and do your best, and you will be guided, blessed, and become an instrument in the hands of the Lord to accomplish His purposes.”
Nephi went to Jerusalem to obtain the plates of brass and “was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which [he] should do” (1 Nephi 4:6), Nephi did not recognize in the moment he was receiving revelation that he was receiving revelation. Perhaps this experience is highlighted so early in the Book of Mormon precisely because it is an example of such an important pattern of revelation."
“Repetition can invite revelation if we have eyes to see and ears to hear.”
"Typically, revelation comes as a conclusion and not an explanation, We should not be surprised, for example, if impressions or promptings simply guide us to stop, to go, to open our mouths, to remain silent, to slow down, to press forward more rapidly, or to consider an option or course of action that may seem unusual.”
Revelation focuses upon the “what” more than the “why.”
The lesson: “The Lord often requires that we initially go and do without knowing why.”
Latter-day Saints cannot and should not wait for an explanation before acting because we have the sure promise of the Lord: ‘Blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more’ (2 Nephi 28:30).”
