Dont think so... at least, not any more. Elder Uchdorf and Elder Gong dont have pioneer ancestors in their Family History, I dont think.

Re: Pioneer Ancestry a prerequisite to being an apostle
I know Dusty says he is just here to ask questions, but when does almost every new OP I see is started by him become spamming? I use the Latest Posts feature, and he started a bunch of new OPs in the past few hours. It pushes other conversations farther down the page.

In terms of pushing other conversations farther down the page, that is the nature of a forum where people post, don't you get that??Dusty52 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 7:07 amDo you want me to stop posting?Dusty52 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 7:03 amWhat is your point??Lizzy60 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 6:20 amI know Dusty says he is just here to ask questions, but when does almost every new OP I see is started by him become spamming? If it's the general consensus on this forum that you don't want to read my posts I will leave and not post anymore?Dusty52 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 7:13 amIn terms of pushing other conversations farther down the page, that is the nature of a forum where people post, don't you get that??Dusty52 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 7:07 amDo you want me to stop posting?Dusty52 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 7:03 amWhat is your point??Lizzy60 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 6:20 am

Re: Pioneer Ancestry a prerequisite to being an apostle
In terms of calling my posts spamming, I am asking genuine questions, I'm not sending unwanted emails to others??Dusty52 wrote: ↑July 15th, 2018, 7:20 amIf it's the general consensus on this forum that you don't want to read my posts I will leave and not post anymore?
How can you compare it to spamming??

Dusty, don't listen to them. It's fine to post. It's great to have questions and variety. This forum gets boring sometimes.

You were upset with my original post of me implying that to be an apostle you need to have pioneer ancestry
that's the only reason I can think of why you would be upset with my posts!

"Spamming" doesn't just refer to unsolicited email marketing, it can also refer to repetition or excess in lots of different contexts. Quoting and replying to your own posts five times in a row is absolutely spamming.
No, it's not against the rules, it's just annoying and makes it less likely that others will want to engage the substance of your posts.

Ideas come to me not one at a time but a bunch at a time
When I joined this forum I was not told how many posts I could post and how often
I will post no longer

Re: Pioneer Ancestry a prerequisite to being an apostle
It might be helpful if you write all the questions that pop into your head down, and then group them by topic, before you go making a new thread. People like threads that are well thought out, engaging, and interesting. Starting new threads, each regarding a single question and little else in the OP makes for a thread that at best is interesting, but will burn out fairly quickly. And that is why it bothers some people (apart from the aspect that making lots of posts is considered spam). People generally want fewer threads of higher quality, not lots of threads of lower quality.
Put a little more effort behind each thread you make. Group questions with similar topics into one thread, as it gives people more avenues to interact with you and everyone else. Put some thought into trying to answer the questions yourself and include that in the OP as well. Don't make the OP too long, but you definitely want it to be longer and more thought provoking than a few short sentences. A good thread will be engaging for a long time, and will keep drawing people back to it.
As far as rapidly posting responses to others, quoting yourself in the same thread and double posting are considered bad form on most other forums... if not outright against the rules. We do not have rules regarding that, but many would still consider it to be impolite. If you have something more to add, editing your previous post is encouraged as an alternative way. Again, to reemphasize, Double Posting is not breaking the rules, but is considered bad form, although there are reasons why someone would do it. I generally try to avoid posting twice or more times in a row if I can help it, and if I do, I often come back later to merge the two posts into one if it makes sense to do so (I do this by deleting the older of the posts).
Also, lighten up a bit. This is the internet. If you get offended at every little comment (some of which are minor or harmless), then you ain't gonna have a good time. People can't easily convey intent and emotion in an accurate manner in real life, and its even harder online. I think the people who were mentioning your spamming were just expressing their irritation, not trying to insult you personally. Pot shots only hurt as much as you let them, so don't let them get to you.

Re: Pioneer Ancestry a prerequisite to being an apostle
Dusty52,
I like your questions. Yes, sometimes you post so many of them at time that I don't have time to participate in all of those threads. Yet I like them. You haven't broken any rules, but your perhaps not yet completely familiar with the culture of the forum. If I may join the line of people giving you advice, my advice is that be also active commenter in your and other's threads. We like your questions but we would also like to hear your thoughts. Just the fact that you keep thinking that kinds of things you ask here, tells me that you are a person who thinks a lot. It would be nice to hear more of your thoughts.

Re: Pioneer Ancestry a prerequisite to being an apostle
Thank you for all your comments and helpful hints I will take them on board, I am new to this and I'm learning now what is the correct protocol
I have been in the church for 50 years, and I've always had lots and lots of questions which have largely remained unanswered
Until now, until I found this forum and you
I thank the person or people who set this up, it was inspired! and it continues to enlighten and uplift
I have been a bit like a "bull in a China shop", trying to get all those questions out before I forget them
Please forgive my over exuberance
Finding this forum where I can share my thoughts and feelings means a lot to me, something I couldn't do before please feel free to let me know if I do anything wrong
