Re: Deep Doctrine
Why would God give us curious minds and a thirst for truth if we were to never get our thirst satisfied?
The answers are there you but even then they get missed until we are ready. How many times have you read the scriptures and then on your fourtieth round something new sticks out to you?

Re: Deep Doctrine
The answers are there, and they make sense by themselves. The answers are plain, simple, and seem complete to the mind of mortals, and many are content to hold to this comforting understanding. It makes sense and gives us warm and fuzzy feelings... at least until the moment that God reveals several key pieces of information that you never even suspected existed until He tells you of them. When that happens, you suddenly find that the picture painted by the scriptures isn't actually complete, and your whipped from your cosy little pool and thrown into a hurricane.Juliet wrote: ↑July 29th, 2018, 7:21 pm Why would God give us curious minds and a thirst for truth if we were to never get our thirst satisfied?

Though the answers are still plain and simple, you find that the complete truth is a 180°spin on what you thought the overall picture was in the first place. The underlying context of whats in the scriptures is changed completely when you understand some of the deeper mysteries of Heaven. Certain holes you never noticed were missing are suddenly filled, and what they reveal is mind-blowing and amazing, yet horrifying at the same time. The words that Christ and the Prophets speak make so much more sense... too much sense, but what they are actually saying is completely different from what we have long thought. Its crazy how even knowing just one of the abyssal mysteries can change everything.

Re: Deep Doctrine
" If you seek an answer to a spiritual question from the Source of all knowledge, then you have to follow His rules to get the answer. This process requires at least a desire to understand the truth and a willingness to follow God’s will (see Alma 32:27). Otherwise, you run the risk of talking yourself into the answers you want to believe rather than receiving true answers from God."

Re: Deep Doctrine
Another perspective is this:
There is no such thing as deep doctrine, only truth.
Whether something is considered deep is a matter of perspective or capacity to understand.
Before you've learned something, it's a mystery.
When you've learned something, it's no longer a mystery.
Learning removes the mystery.
And this is neither deep nor shallow, it simply is.

Alma 12:10
10 And therefore, he that will harden his heart, the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word; and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full.
D&C 93:39
39 And that wicked one cometh and taketh away light and truth, through disobedience, from the children of men, and because of the tradition of their fathers.
Dan. 2:21
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
2 Ne. 28:30
30 For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.
D&C 71:5
5 Now, behold this is wisdom; whoso readeth, let him understand and receive also;
