If you knew you were going to die!

I have been thinking that as I get older I may hear that I have a disease or something
Heaven forbid, but you cannot rule it out
If you were told you only had six months to live is there anything in your life you would change?
What would you do in the time left?
I'm interested to hear your comments on this?

No, there is nothing in my life I would change, I just keep on with preparations.
Every moment I think may be my last.

I would write letters for my kid to open as he got older with the advice and love I would have given and shared if I was there with him. Maybe for events or birthdays or something. I would write letters to my family and express to them how much I love them.
Another good thing to do is record your stories for your posterity.

Do it now then. Now is the time to prepare for eternity.

I had a heart bypass 2 years ago
It make me realise that i haven't got much, but what I do have are 2 things LOVE and FAMILY
The whole experience made me realise what was important in life, and I decided I needed to change
but 2 years down the line I'm still not the kind of person my Heavenly Father wants me to be!
I find it difficult

Some of trying to be the person Heavenly Father wants to be is just having the desire to reach towards being that person! Isn't that cool? So couldn't you say you have strong desires to be growing towards that? I think you do. So you are actually on the right track.
Why do plants grow up? Because they want to reach towards the sun. So if we're reaching towards the sun, even if we're not there yet; that means we're in the process of reaching out to him. Much of this life is cultivating that desire to reach towards him and recognize that desire is 'righteous' when coupled with self improvement continually. So it's OK that we aren't perfect right now.

Just responding to the title of this thread... we do know we're going to die.
Does it really matter if it's 6 months or 600?

I like the idea of a letter to each child, (credit to MMbelieve for that)
What be included in this letter?
A few things:
1. Expression of love (MMbelieve)
2. Ask for forgiveness
3. Testimony
4. Advice on how to deal with certain problems
Can anyone think of anything else to include?

Although I haven't kept it up (thanks for the nudge) at one point I wrote letters of this variety to each of my kids, with the plan to write one annually (or so), for them to receive either upon my death or at some point in their adulthood. I tried to include things that they had done that they wouldn't necessarily remember (a time they felt the spirit, or did something that showed some aspect of their character, etc.). I also included some minor things about myself that they either wouldn't know or remember. Sometimes those insignificant details and stories end up being the big things.

I would continue weekly temple attendance, maybe go more frequently.
I would take one of the trips I have dreamed of, probably to a destination where a temple is available to continue regular temple attendance. I wouldn't worry about debt because I wouldn't live long enough for it to be an issue.
If I had family I could spend time with, I would.
I would spend time with friends.
I would kiss someone. I haven't had a kiss in more months than I care to count.

Death to the truly righteous is supposed to be sweet, so why worry one way or another? If repentance is required, then this is what should be focused on. And even then if a person waits to repent until they are told that death is near, is their repentance then compelled? Death bed repentance is not necessarily acceptable to God. (Even though he makes the decisions over this type of repentance.)
No Death

If I was told I had only 6 months left to live, I would first quit school. Second, I would tell all my friends and family. Third, I would road trip to as many of the temples that I could. Fourth, when I got back start volunteering as a full time job and start talking to a funeral home and lawyer to make arrangements.

I think attending as many temples as you can is a good idea, it is closest to heaven you can get, where time is of no consequence, everyone is equal and you are anxiously engaged in a good cause!

What if we flip the question around. Lets say you know a close loved one is going to die very soon. Consider honestly if you would change how you treat them.

I would let everyone know that I want the disposal of my body to be the least possible burden on anyone so cremate me or donate my body to medical research or something. I would arrange for my daughter's adoption. Then I'd probably watch shows on Netflix the rest of my life some I doubt I'd feel like doing anything.

Who would not welcome getting away from Satan and his influences; to be rid of all the evil in the world and find peace, joy, serenity and sincere, genuine and powerful love?
Why do people cling to a world that is being hurled into the hands of God so he can sweep evil and evil people off the land? Read scripture, Revelation, and discover just how bad things are going to become. Satan is going to overcome the righteous at some point...Rev 13:7
Revelation 13: 7
7And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Even though this is yet to be in the future, just by looking around today makes me sick. Evil is everywhere and in everything. Can't go anywhere without hearing the Lord's name in vain, disgusting, foul language, fighting among people, riots, turmoil, the Constitution being trampled on, people with the chains of hell about them burning the American flag and others stomping on it, sex and foul language on prime time TV, cops killing people almost every day, our rights being trampled on...the list goes on.
If I had six months to live, I would consider the differences between here on earth and what is in heaven waiting for me. As it is, I live my life one day at a time. Is there any other way?
Wonder if we all just lived our life each day as if it is our last day on earth. Would this make a difference in how we think and what we do hour by hour?

Thank you very much. I appreciate profound thinking that stirs my imagination. And I keep my eyes open all the while so I can see the real world before me and not pretend it is all roses.
Besides, I've been orphaned since 2002 and I miss my mommy and daddy.

Why wait? Since I moved to the Utah Valley I have been to Logan, Bountiful, Salt Lake, Oquirrh, Draper, Timpanogos, Provo, Provo downtown, Payson, Manti, and St. George. I have been to Cedar City and Jordan River during their open houses but haven't been able to participate in ordinances yet in either. I have plans to go to Ogden, probably in August, and one of these days I'll visit Brigham City. If I had a friend willing to share the drive I would go to Vernal as well.
But I have met more people than I can count who have lived in Utah for longer than me and haven't even visited three temples. I don't get why.
