Instructions for Curriculum 2019

Adult and Youth Sunday School

NEW Come, Follow Me—For Sunday School (14716; New Testament)
https://www.ldschurchnews.com/latest/20 ... tudy-47545
The First Presidency has announced a series of resources to help Church members and their families study the scriptures at home: "Come, Follow Me — For Individuals and Families."

The first of these resources will focus on the New Testament, which is the course of study for Sunday School and Primary classes in 2019.

...

Using the new "Come, Follow Me" resources, Primary, youth and adult Sunday School classes support home-centered gospel learning as teachers inspire learners to experience the power of God’s word for themselves. They invite class members to discover gospel truths in the scriptures and share their discoveries with each other “that all may be edified of all” (D&C 88:122).

The resources for 2019 are the first of what eventually will be a four-year rotation of study based on the four main books of scripture.

Well...I help in Sunday School as a gospel principles teacher. Many wards greatly overlook the Gospel Principles class's ability to help you get grounded on the core real secure foundation. People get caught up in wanting to get into the meat that they miss that the simplicity is where it's at. And the great simplicity is just;

trust in God and in answers to prayers, believe that God will help you come back to him and have a hope to do so, and help teach you enough love to help others in the Gospel...(Oh my gosh...I just described faith, hope, and charity, in scriptural definition without trying or planning to!) And also simple enduring faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, obedience, and enduring to the end. (And courage too to believe that we can give up something good to get something better...and to have courage to live the gospel even when it doesn't always look like you can get rich quick on it, etc. etc.)

A lot of these new ideas are inspired. And sometimes some of us have felt they were coming. But they basically come down to trying to get people to have new ways of 'opening the scriptures' and really trying to connect with the Spirit. To do that you need ways of interacting with the scriptures. Some people aren't good with textbooks and are too hard pushed by the world to easily open up a book, so we try to help people have new ways of opening up the scriptures.

What a coincidence! That's what the apostles and prophet are doing! It does show they are inspired!

And we're all trying to work on this. We're all trying to work on our faith.

The part about sharing with each other (while trying to be patient and not condemn) is important too in that it helps people see that faith is winning and growing and not going away or dying away. Satan wants you to think faith is going away, losing, and outdated. He's wrong.

These things work. There are spiritual miracles going on with the growth of the Gospel spreading throughout the world, and being accepted in every corner of the world. When you look at how some of these were done it works.
