President Nelson’s Invitation

Pertaining to President Nelson’s 1st invitation given in his broadcast today:

See you all in no less than 7 days.

Who else is joining? Of course, I won’t be checking back in to read about it. I’m guessing it may be longer than 7 days for me personally.

I do not see a link up yet, or I would post one. Hopefully you watched it live or will go back and watch the devotional from tonight.

My 12 and 14 year old gleefully told me LDSFF was social media. I agreed. We start our 7 days tomorrow morning.

To Enlist in the Lord's Youth Battalion to Gather Israel

1. Seven-day social media fast.
2. Weekly sacrifice of time to the Lord.
3. Keep on the covenant path.
4. Pray daily for all to receive blessings of the gospel.
5. Stand out. Be different. Be a light.

I can see the forum is still alive and kicking. ;) Anybody else accept the challenge? I don't have Facebook, twitter, etc, my "social media" IS this forum and commenting on multiple news sites. So I tuned them all out for 1 week. My experience was that I found myself not getting as mad and being much calmer. That is a plus. I sure missed LDSFF though and was counting the days before my return. I'm thinking my goal is to continue not reading comments on NEWS websites post. BUT not LDSFF. 8-)

(I almost had a mad panic when I was denied access to LDSFF this morning for being inactive for 1 week!)

My kids dropped social media. I don't consider this social media. Although there are lies that are told here, for the most part this is not where we show off our food or vacation to make everybody think we are happy.

As for myself I do have facebook but didn't take a fast from it because I don't have a problem with it, and don't check it that much and post about 1 x a year (mostly get tagged from the wife) I did however show some good faith with my kids and didn't play video games the past week since I figured I had been playing too much lately, since being released from my calling and having more time on my hands. During the week of trying not to waist my time I realized I would be better off going back to school (after a 16 year sabbatical) and finishing my degree that is half done - I will be starting again this fall. Even though I don't need for further edcuation for my job, it's better to do that, than many other things I could be doing.

Yeah, e-eye2.0, same here - I think I've taken much longer inadvertent breaks from every form of social media and online interaction. I think it's really for the youth who are so fixated on their phones & instagram, snapchat, etc.
