Need help with a quote (if it exists)

I’m posting this as I need some help finding a quote and who said it – my Mother-In-Law seems to recall a church leader or Prophet in the past saying something along the lines of that in the last days leading up to the return of Christ, traditional church programs would begin to be done away with and replaced with church-created initiatives as well as members of the church having to basically do things differently in terms of home teaching and even missionary work amongst the members because of societal changes and new laws designed to make it difficult or next to impossible to do things as before. Does anyone know if it exists, who may have uttered it or where it can be found? Thanks! :)

She might have just gotten this from the Spirit and from the scriptures.

For what it's worth, I don't think it's wrong. Awhile back people used to comment that as the gulf between the World and the Church widens it would be harder to get back in the Church when falling away, and they said that it would pick up speed and move quicker than before. I don't for sure recollect where the quote came from.

However, there are some very, very interesting things in the Book of Mormon. One of the most interesting is Alma Chapter 35. This chapter talks about basically the converted lamanites in Jershon basically just servicing and taking care of anyone in need. They even went so far as to let them live with them, giving food, clothing, and shelter to the poor Zoramites.

People totally understimate what that means. What does it mean? It means basically they were so faithful and so strong that they didn't mind giving up wealth and other things to take care of new converts and refugees. That sounds basic, until you think how committed you'd have to be. But it's not the only place this is at.

King Benjamin in the beginning of Mosiah Chapter 1 and around there it references he didn't live off the people as king but worked with them as equals and even worked in the fields. Its so incredible. And Mormon's abridge of his 'words of Mormon' is there right at that spot to show us how to prepare for the Millenium. He knew his job was to point out the way for the Gentiles to tell us in our day how to get ready for the Second Coming. Guess what? Its in this two stories. Also when King Mosiah went to bring the Nephites to merge with the Mulekites...think what that took. It meant being so committed to helping and serving them that they gave up their own language to adopt the culture of the Nephites and Nephite heritage.

This can't just be said. It would take huge effort that goes beyond rules and programs. This really is pointing the way ahead. These three examples are very close to going beyond just a program. So there you have scriptural examples. You just have to think about it in terms of how such a huge undertaking could have happened except if people were really that far into thinking am I committed enough to do those things and what would they take. As Babylon self destructs members very likely will have to be filling in these gaps on their own with our own organization. IT won't necessarily be something people want but Babylon lives off others, and doesn't want to do its own work...so as it self destructs people will have to step up. If you meditate and study the scriptures related to this it makes more and more sense as you fit the puzzle pieces together.

As a site note; its going to be hard for a world in turmoil to be like this especially for future refugees, which will probably come for the safety of Zion, and elderly and infirm, and people without families. It will be nearly impossible for people who haven't practiced self sufficiency and lived off others.

Except that the "gulf" has narrowed not widened between the church and the world, infact there is no gulf at all, actually you cannot even tell much, if any difference at all. We even spend millions on PR trying to be like Babylon....

Well some people may act like its narrowed. But the standards are way farther apart than they ever were. This has been quoted by prophets as widening ever since the 60s. Drug abuse, abortion and a whole list of other things show how wide the difference is. By saying the gulf between them widening we're talking about how far apart they are in terms of how we live and what we should be doing, not every mistake everyone is making. Then later after this life that gulf of differences between living will be replaced by 'consequences of our choices'.

I think that there is a difference but people that are disobedient love to make it look like its the same. But try to make friends with people that do temple work, and you will see a difference.

I hope this helps and that you feel acceptance and friendship with dialogue in my wording not contention also.
