Dawn Luehrs I got an H1N1 vaccine when 16 weeks pregnant w/ fraternal twins in 2009. Within days, I had edema. 1 week after vaccination, I went into labor & both membranes ruptured (pPROM). 2 weeks after vaccination, the first twin was born. 6 weeks after vaccination, the second twin was born. Neither of my twins were born mature enough to survive outside my womb. In Nov ’12, when my youngest son was 22 months old, 2 children were vaccinated w/ the flu mist on their way to our Friday morning playdate. After playing for a couple of hours, their mother mentioned it to the rest of the mothers at the playdate. That evening, my son developed a fever. He sat at about 102 temp for 3 days. Slowly, over time on Monday his condition degraded & I drew him a dose of fever reducer, with the intention to give it to him about half an hour before bedtime. 15 minutes before bedtime, his fever spiked suddenly & he had a febrile seizure. The seizure broke his spiking fever & it went back down to 102 or below. Over the next few days, he recovered. His illness was attributed to the playmates shedding live flu virus from the flu mist vaccine.

Since 1950, the number of required vaccine doses has risen from 3 to 74 – an increase of more than 24 times. In 1983, there were still only 10 recommended vaccines being administered to children under the age of 6 – the schedule then required 24 doses, 7 injections and 4 oral polio doses. By 2010, the number of doses had increased to 68, with over half of them being administered before children reached 18 months of age. As of February 1, 2016, the number of doses before age 17 has increased to 74 – including 53 injected vaccines and 3 oral rotavirus doses. THIS IS INSANE!

The end result of all these pokes are sicker kids and later adults if you ask me. All these vaccines are inundating our immune systems. I see young kids (my grand-kids included) who are always sick. I don't remember being sick all the time as a child. Yes there were occasional colds. Ear infections were non-existent when we were young. My boys got ear infections one after another, all winter long.

A common phrase is "Thanks to modern medicine, life expectancy is on the rise". Yes maybe so, but I honestly belief those numbers will go down greatly with any person born after the mid 1980's when vaccines started being pushed more. Those kids are going to have more long term health problems IMO.

Let's talk about vaccine ingredients. Here is a list of common vaccine ingredients.

* Bovine cow serum: Extracted from cow skin. When injected causes connective tissue disorders, arthritis and lupus; also shortness of breath, low blood pressure, chest pain and skin reactions.

* Sorbitol: Synthetic sweetener which metabolizes very slowly and aggravates IBS and gastrointestinal issues.

* Gelatin: Derived from the collagen inside animals' skin and bones. Injecting gelatin poses the risk of infection from synthetic growth hormones and BSE infectivity (mad cow disease).

* Sodium chloride: Raises blood pressure and inhibits muscle contraction and growth.

* Egg protein: Vaccines are prepared in eggs (certainly not organic). May contain growth hormones, antibiotics, and salmonella bacteria.

* Thimerosal: A neurotoxic mercury which causes autism: There are 25 mcg in one average flu vaccine, and the EPA safety limit is 5 micrograms, so children who are vaccinated simultaneously with multiple* vaccines receive over 10 times the safety limit of mercury in one day.

* Human albumin: The protein portion of blood from pooled human venous plasma; when injected causes fever, chills, hives, rash, headache, nausea, breathing difficulty, and rapid heart rate. Injecting "pooled blood" can result in a loss of body cell mass and cause immunodeficiency virus infection, or contain SV40, AIDS, cancer or Hepatitis B from drug addicts.

* Formaldehyde: Highly carcinogenic fluid used to embalm corpses. Ranked one of the most hazardous compounds to human health; can cause liver damage, gastrointestinal issues, reproductive deformation, respiratory distress and cancer. Plus, formaldehyde has been known to fail to deactivate the virus the vaccine is intended to cure, thus enabling a live virus to enter your blood and infect your system.

* Phenoxyethanol: A glycol ether/chemical; highly toxic to the nervous system, kidneys, and liver. The FDA warns "can cause shut down of the central nervous system (CNS), vomiting and contact dermatitis" in cosmetics; imagine when injected into your blood.

* Aluminum phosphate: Greatly increases toxicity of mercury, so caution about minimum mercury tolerance is therefore severely underestimated. CDC scientists and all doctors are well aware of this.

* Monkey Kidney Cells – per the CDC website, D-tap and Polio vaccines STILL contain monkey kidney cells in which they are cultured or "brewed," thus conjuring dangerous auto-immune reactions. The CDC and vaccine manufactures alike will tell you there are only trace amounts left, and not enough to cause any concern, but they lie. Impurities are STILL included in the formulation that's injected. There is no human digestion process for injections, so animal organ tissues and blood that contain animal viruses are highly toxic to humans. These samples of animal tissues also come from cow hearts, duck eggs, pig's blood, sheep blood, dog's kidneys, horse blood, and yes, rabbit brains!

* Latex – found in the hepatitis B vaccine, routinely given to health workers. Got extreme latex allergies? You can quit wondering why now. Many nurses are allergic to latex–that's not a coincidence. Latex in vaccines conjures a very panicked immune response, and nurses suffer this life-threatening allergy for the rest of their lives. Hep B vaccine is now routinely given to newborns in the US and Australia.

* Mycoplasma – these pathogens that cause pneumonia are microscopic organisms that lack rigid cell walls. Among the smallest of all free-moving organisms, one of these species causes mycoplasma pneumonia ONLY in children and young adults (the ones vaccinated, by the way). These mycoplasma are purposely inserted into vaccines as a adjuvant to "increase the immune system's allergic response" to the jab.

* Artificial Sweeteners! Even though you won't be "eating" your immunization ingredients, you will be suffering that "sweet misery" from the CARCINOGENIC artificial sweeteners Sorbitol and Polyribosylribitol. Surely you weren't made aware by your MD that excess sorbitol in the cells can cause diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, leading to blindness. Plus, Sorbitol is a gastrointestinal and liver toxicant, to top things off. Then there's Polyribosylribitol, a highly experimental artificial sweetener. How does it make you feel to know your children are medical guinea pigs?

* Ammonium Sulfate – A toxic chemical fertilizer, ammonium sulfate is actually a mix of ammonia with sulfuric acid. AS stresses the immune system by causing acidosis. AS is toxic to the liver and respiratory system.

* Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) – when injected becomes a neurotoxin, causing CNS disorders and brain damage in children.

* Peanut Oil – that explains all those extreme peanut allergies! Many vaccines are cultured in peanut oil, and trace amounts remain. That's why children with peanut allergies go into anaphylactic shock when you open something in the room containing peanuts–their little bodies assume they will AGAIN be injected with this "culture." It's a "knee-jerk" auto-immune hyper-response.

* MSG (monosodium glutamate): When injected becomes a neurotoxin, causing CNS disorders and brain damage in children.

*Here's a good one and people don't like to hear it or comprehend it: Human diploid cells.Several immunizations that contain cells harvested from infected human diploid cells from abortions are now recommended for babies and children; they include Poliovax, Adenovirus, Hepatitis A, MMR II (measles, mumps, rubella combo jab), MMRV (V=chicken pox), Rotavirus and Small pox. Human diploid cells may also be listed as WI-38 or MRC-5.

To me it's all about the safety of vaccines, the ingredients used are less than desirable. Many might say, yeah but they work. Well maybe, that's can be debatable. Many childhood diseases were on the decline when vaccines started becoming prevalent, due to better hygiene being practiced. Well okay what about chicken pox vaccine. My older boys all got chicken pox. It was a week of discomfort and then done. My younger boys got the chicken pox vaccine and have never gotten the disease. Yet at what cost? They were injected with all of those toxic ingredients that could have untold side effects for the rest of their life. I would have much preferred they get chicken pox and build up that life long immunity.

When you talk about the "state of medical science today" what are you talking about? I've been thru' my own extensive and severe medical situation in the last 3 years, none of which gave me a minute of lost sleep, bathroom or other issues. But severe based on the "tests".

And what great cure was offered to me by this great "state of medical science today"? First, poison, based on World War I (one, not two) mustard gas.

And then ... take pills.

I'm not very smart, but I knew what ailed me was not ... not taking enough "pills" or chemicals, etc. I did know that my diet was not sufficient and that I needed vitamins and minerals.

We all were vaccinated, right? I have the big smallpox scar on my arm. But now they add poison's in the name of preservation, they want to make all money as they can, the greedy Bas#@$%$. In June of 2015, a well-respected Florida health practitioner, Dr. Jeffrey Bradstreet, went missing and was then discovered floating face down in a North Carolina river, a bullet hole in his chest. Foul play?

Why would anyone order a hit on a generous family man who was just trying to do good? The death is still shrouded in mystery. Authorities almost immediately ruled his death a suicide, but his family says otherwise. Who shoots themselves in the chest to commit suicide, while positioned in just such a way that they will fall into a river?

So let’s unpack the back story.

Dr. Bradstreet’s own son was brain damaged following an MMR vaccine at 12 months of age. The experience helped convince the doctor to look into a link between the vaccine and autism. He was working on two leading edge areas of medical inquiry.

First, he was doing research that seemed to support the compelling notion that certain vaccines could induce autism. He ended up testifying twice about this before Congress. Second, he was working with a new compound out of Switzerland that was greatly relieving, if not outright curing, cancer and other diseases. With vaccine revenues over $25 billion and cancer drugs over $100 billion, pharmaceutical industries risk losing huge profits if research like Bradstreet’s continued positively and reached a wide audience. In fact, it could spell the end of numerous mega corporations.

Was there any evidence to document a financial motive?
Yes, just three days before his death, Bradstreet’s research facility had been raided by U.S. government agents to shut down his research and halt his treatment of patients. The warrant that describes the items to be seized indicates a motive to protect pharmaceutical dominance and suppress natural cures.

OK, but such an isolated incident doesn’t mean there’s a major conspiracy to suppress cures and eliminate holistic doctors. Maybe he was depressed, or cheating, or got in with the wrong crowd…

Indeed, but what if I told you there was another holistic doctor, Dr. Nicholas J. Gonzalez, known for helping actress Suzanne Sommers overcome her cancer, who died unexpectedly just a month later. Gonzalez had been in excellent health and his sudden collapse was apparently “cardiac related,” but a subsequent autopsy showed no evidence of this.

All right, two could still be coincidence. What was he working on?
Dr. Gonzalez focused a lot on holistic alternatives to radiation and on exposing the dangers and destructive history of the more than 100 chemotherapy drugs, revealing that they were developed from poisonous nerve gas. Here is an interview filmed shortly before his death where he emphasizes the importance of patients believing in whatever treatment they choose.

But we don’t know what really happened with either of these two doctors. That’s pretty thin evidence claiming any sort of campaign against holistic doctors.
And if there were three? How about five, or eight, or ten? The tragic reality is that there have been at least thirteen holistic doctors who have “turned up dead or missing” in just a few months. Here is a timeline of recent suspicious doctor deaths:

July 3rd Dr. Patrick Fitzpatrick, MD, goes missing without a trace. His truck and trailer were found on the side of the road.

I am pro vaccine after careful research. There are chemicals in everything. There is more aluminum in breast milk than a vaccine. The number of vaccines has gone up, but the number of antigens in each vaccine has gone lower, so they are much less reactive than older vaccines. I have had all 6 of mine vaccinated with everything they can have as soon as it's available, and I have 6 healthy and happy kids. No allergies, no auto-immune disorders.

The Hannah Poling case is so rare, which is why it made the news. She had a rare metabolically disorder which made her extra vulnerable. Vaccines aren't 100% safe, but they are safer than most of our daily activities. Your child is more likely to choke to death on a grape or killed in a care accident than to be vaccine injured.

I honestly don't understand anti-vaccine conservatives and preppers. If society does collapse, all the fancy hospitals and antibiotics are going away. Measles is the 1800s, was way more deadly than it is now. Can you imagine measles, polio, diptheria going around a refugee camp or evacuation center? My great uncle died from tetanus. Venezuala is experiencing a lot of these problems right now.

It's better to get the vaccines during the good times in case the bad times ever come. It would take one generation of kids not getting vaccinated and these diseases would return. I am happy my kids are safe in that scenario.

I don't think anyone is arguing that some people are fine when injected with vaccines, but there are certainly and exorbitant amount of injuries (both minor and major) that are occurring that might not have occurred because of vaccines. Furthermore, vaccines may not be the sole cause of these injuries, but they might merely be the straw that breaks the camel's back, so-to-say because of other factors. The amount of testing that goes into vaccinations is abhorrent, in that there is very little testing. Most vaccines do not offer lifetime immunity and the majority of the American population is likely under-vaccinated because their "vaccine immunity" has worn off. As an aside, whether you vaccinate or not should be a parental or personal choice and with the exception of the Hep B vaccine (which in my opinion is pointless unless you use drugs -with needles- and were a crack whore or your small just-born child is sexually active and will be so for the next 10 years or so) vaccines are almost completely ineffective for children under the age of 1 especially when being fed breast milk.

They are not out to get us. As vaccinations have gone up, our world population has soared. A lot of your data is just wrong. At least according to reputable scientists who are experts on the subject. There is so much misinformation about vaccines out there and some know just the trigger words to make vulnerable people doubt established science.

FDA’s Drug Safety System Fails to Protect Public
NOTE: The following is one of a series of case studies produced by the Union of Concerned Scientists' Scientific Integrity Program between 2004 and 2010 to document the abuses highlighted in our 2004 report, Scientific Integrity in Policy Making.

In September 2004, the pharmaceutical company, Merck, voluntarily withdrew its pain medication Vioxx from the market after evidence emerged that patients were at increased risk of heart attack while taking the drug. Critics have charged that the FDA failure to protect the American public in this instance is symptomatic of a larger problem at the agency. In testimony before the Senate Finance Committee, a reviewer in the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Office of Safety Research charged that the agency's system for evaluating drug safety is broken and fails to protect public safety. In his November 2004 testimony the reviewer, Dr. David Graham, charged that the FDA's procedures and culture made it impossible to adequately investigate drugs, and that crucial post-approval safety monitoring is especially compromised.¹

Dr. Graham testified that the FDA's failure to recall the arthritis drug Vioxx earlier resulted in as many as 55,000 premature deaths from heart attacks and stroke labeling it the equivalent of allowing "two to four jumbo jetliners" to crash every week for five years.² Graham also charged that FDA reviewers had failed to address serious concerns about the side effects of several drugs other than Vioxx.

When the FDA approves a drug, Graham testified, "it is also saying the drug is 'safe and effective.' When a serious safety issue arises post-marketing, [FDA officials'] immediate reaction is almost always one of denial, rejection and heat." There is an "inherent conflict of interest," said Graham, in putting the same individuals in charge of approving and recalling drugs.³

8 FDA Approved Drugs That Were Pulled From The Market

Certainly if a presidential candidate is entitled to change his mind on major issues, the FDA is, too. Of course, the entire process of reversal is quite a bit more serious when it comes to a federal agency in charge of the welfare of the country.

Let's start with a very sobering fact: More Americans die from adverse effects of prescription drug medications than from illegal drugs.

That means that the agency overseeing prescription medications carries a heavy burden, the burden of human lives.

recallsOver the course of the time that the FDA has been approving medications, numerous 'mind changes' have occurred, when data revealed that approved drugs were not truly safe to be on the market--something learned only, unfortunately, through human suffering. When such suffering indicates that drugs once deemed safe are no longer acceptable, it is necessary that they be recalled, and removed from the market.

Technically, the FDA doesn't 'order' a recall. When, based on the new data, it is clear that the medicine is no longer acceptable in terms of safety, most often companies recall their own products when the FDA requests it.

If a company refuses, the FDA's recourse is to take the company to court for an injunction--but that rarely has to happen.

Space prevents us running through all the FDA recalls, even in the past 10 years [see the appendix for links to lists of recalls], so we'll just focus on some of the higher-profile cases in which the FDA recommended a drug company recall a product the agency had previously approved, or went ahead and revoked its approval under certain conditions.


The medications will most likely be quite familiar.

SELDANE (terfenadine)
Approved in 1985, Seldane was a great breakthrough in the allergy arena, in that it treated the symptoms of allergic rhinitis, but without the drowsiness and fatigue of other antihistamines.

And it earned its weight in gold. Drug maker Hoechst Marion Roussel (now Aventis) sold $440 million worth of it worldwide the year before the recall. In fact, in the first 11 months of 1996, 4.3 million prescriptions for Seldane and 2.3 million for a variation, Seldane-D, were filled.

However, it soon turned out that Seldane, particularly when taken together with antibiotics or antifungal drugs, could cause heart rhythm abnormalities.

Throughout its years on the market, the FDA received about 40 reports of the abnormalities, linked to 8 deaths.

But because it was the only antihistamine available without the side effect of drowsiness, the FDA deemed that the benefits outweighed the risks of the drug.

However, in 1996 the FDA approved another Hoechst Marion Roussel antihistamine, Allegra (fexofenadine), which had the same active compound as Seldane, but didn't cause abnormal heart rhythms.

That was enough to put Seldane out of the category of 'benefits outweighing risks.'

The FDA asked the company to withdraw the drug from the market because of its negative effects.

Dr. Robert J. Temple, an official of the FDA, said the recall was not because people were dying in massive numbers. Rather, he said, ''We are saying that there is a potentially lethal but infrequent risk that you can safely avoid, and that is not acceptable anymore."

Ultimately the FDA banned Seldane in Jaunary 1997, leading to a recall.

FEN-PHEN (fenfluramine/dexfenfluramine and phentermine)
The FDA can't be held solely to blame on this one, for it never actually approved the combination that made up the now infamous diet drug Fen-Phen. However, it approved each of the components individually, so withdrawal was within its purview.

Fen-phen was made up of two diet drugs that were, indeed, FDA approved: Pomdin (fenfluramine-the 'fen'), approved in 1973 to fight obesity for "single drug, short-term use," and phentermine ('phen'), approved in 1959. American Home Products Corporation combined the drugs--and for a while had a good thing going.

A study was published in 1992 indicating that using fenfluramine with the diet drug phentermine could be effective at maintaining weight loss. The combination took off, and became known as Fen-Phen.

Notably, the FDA did not review the results of these studies, and the long-term combination use of the drugs never did receive FDA approval.

In 1996 the FDA approved dexfenfluramine, a derivative of fenfluramine, marketed as Redux by Wyeth, also as a diet drug. Its adverse side effects when combined with phentermine would mirror those of fenfluramine.

Over their time on the market, 6 million Americans took either Fen-Phen or Redux.

But gradually, as the FDA said in its withdrawal announcement, it became clear that these drugs were doing people's hearts no good at all.

In July of 1997, the Mayo Clinic reported 24 cases of heart valve problems in women who took the Fen-Phen combination. Turns out the FDA had received nine similar reports, and requested all physicians to report any other cases. The lawsuits began within weeks.

In a short time, the FDA had 66 more reports of heart valve issues correlated with Fen-Phen, plus reports of the issue in patients taking only fenfluramine or dexfenfluramine in isolation.

Soon doctors who had run echocardiograms on these patients, testing the functioning of the heart valves, and found that 30% had abnormal echocardiograms, even though they were asymptomatic.

The FDA had all the information it needed

Michael A. Friedman, M.D., the Lead Deputy Commissioner of the FDA, said, "These findings call for prompt action. The data we have obtained indicate that fenfluramine, and the chemically closely related dexfenfluramine, present an unacceptable risk at this time to patients who take them.”

Fenfluramine and dexfenfluramine were recalled in September of 1997, although phentermine was allowed to stay on the market.

By the time of the FDA withdrawal announcement, hundreds of lawsuits had been filed against the various makers of the drugs. One lawyer in New York filed 100 suits alone, claiming this "is going to be bigger than breast implants."

In the very first verdict (with thousands of cases awaiting trial) against American Home Products Corporation, a Texas jury awarded over $23 million to a woman who suffered heart damage after taking the product. It did not bode well, and the company has shelled out billions to cover what its diet drug has wrought.

POSICOR (mibefradil)
Posicor, manufactured by Roche Laboratories and marketed to treat high blood pressure and chest pain, would be recalled within less than a year of its release.

Approved on June 20, 1997, it came on the market in August of that year, already with some caveats. For example, it couldn't be taken in combination with antihistamine Hismanal (astemizole), Propulsid (cisapride) for nighttime heartburn, and Seldane (terfenadine).

Posicor reduced the activity of enzymes in the liver that help the body get rid of medications and thus caused a dramatic increase in the blood levels of these drugs, leading to potentially fatal side effects from the other medications.

Additionally, early clinical results indicated that it caused potentially dangerous irregular heartbeats. FDA medical team leader Dr. Shaw T. Chen wrote on Dec. 18, 1996 that these studies "cast a shadow of potential risk for serious arrhythmias."

Sweden saw fit to keep the drug off the market, but the FDA went ahead with approval.

Soon two more drugs were added to those with potentially deadly interactions, Mevacor (lovastatin) and Zocor ( simvastin).

Six months after approval, the FDA announced that it had "received reports of dangerously lowered heart rates in about 20 patients," and had Roche change its label, now informing physicians that Posicor could not be taken in conjunction with cholesterol-lowering drugs.

By the time of the recall, less than a year later, over 25 drugs were known to be dangerous when combined with Posicor, and the FDA asserted that the growing number of drugs “cannot be practically addressed by standard label warnings.”

The Rubicon had been crossed, and, with dozens of other drugs on the market to treat high blood pressure, the FDA wrote that "Due to the complexity of the prescribing information needed for Posicor and the seriousness of the side effects, FDA and the company agreed that it would be difficult to administer Posicor safely. In addition, Posicor had not been shown to offer special benefits, and its problems were viewed as unreasonable risks to consumers."

On June 8, 1998, Roche withdrew the medication.

By that time, Posicor was suspected in the deaths of 100 patients.

BAYCOL (cerivastatin)
In 1997, the FDA approved an anti-cholesterol drug or statin made by Bayer called Baycol (cerivastatin). It lowered the 'bad' LDL-cholesterol as well as total cholesterol and triglycerides.

There seemed to be every reason for approval.

The clinical trials had carefully looked for the side effects associated with other statins, and found Baycol no more dangerous than any other statin on the market. And it was effective--even at lower doses than the others.

The drug was a hit. Before it would be withdrawn in 2001, U.S. doctors wrote almost 10 million prescriptions for it.

It was all that usage that showed up the deadly potential side effect of the drug. Baycol caused a degenerative disease--sometimes fatal--called rhabdomyolysis—much more frequently than the other statins did.

Rhabdomyolysis is the breakdown of muscle fibers that causes the release of the muscle fiber content into the blood stream, where it causes severe kidney damage.

Unfortunately, it seems Bayer hadn't been completely forthcoming with the information it had on the dangers.

Bruce M. Psaty of the University of Washington in Seattle said that by December of 1999 the company's reports already indicate the manifold higher risk of rhabdomyolysis than with any of the other statins.

Withdrawn in August of 2001, Bayer announced at the time that the drug was linked to over 52 deaths.

VIOXX (rofecoxib)
Vioxx may very well have been one of the biggest recalls of all time.

Approved in 1999, Vioxx was an anti-inflammatory medication to treat arthritis. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), it came without a common NSAID side effect of stomach irritation. Merck, the drug company who developed and marketed Vioxx, voluntarily pulled it from the market in 2004, but not before it was prescribed to over 20 million people. In fact, Vioxx was one of the most widely prescribed drugs in 2003.

Original clinical trials did not show an increased risk of heart attack or stroke. It was only later studies that indicated a serious problem, as the FDA explains.

A later study run by Merck was designed to look at the effects of Vioxx on stomach ulcers and bleeding. The study was good news for those with stomach ulcers--but showed a larger number of heart attacks in patients taking Vioxx than in controls.

Combining data from that trial with other, earlier studies, analysts in Switzerland found, later, that the data indicated the danger of Vioxx by late 2000. But neither Merck nor the FDA made a move to recall at that time.

Rather, in 2002, the information learned from this study was added to Vioxx's labeling.

Merck then began longer-term trials to figure out what the risks were for heart attack and stroke with use of Vioxx. They also ran a new trial to determine if Vioxx was effective in preventing the recurrence of colon polyps.

However, the trial could not even be completed due to the increase in heart attacks and strokes among those taking the medication, and the end was near for Vioxx's life on the market.

The Wall Street Journal, citing a study by the government, asserted that Vioxx might possibly have led to over 27,000 heart attacks and cardiac deaths during its time on the market.

On September 30, 2004, Merck announced a worldwide withdrawal of the drug.

The Swiss researchers, who published their analysis in the December 4 issue of Lancet, claimed the FDA's slow action "has raised major concerns about the undue control of industry over postmarketing safety data."

As a response, the FDA commissioned an audit and announced it would take steps to improve drug-safety monitoring.

BEXTRA (valdecoxib)
Developed by Pfizer in the late 90s, Bextra was, like Vioxx, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for the treatment of arthritis, although again without causing undue stress on the stomach.

Clinical trials looked good, and Bextra was approved by the FDA on November 16, 2001, quickly becoming a top selling drug, earning Pfizer tens of billions of dollars. Patients, doctors--and, above all, Pfizer--were happy.

Until, Pfizer's post-marketing studies found its subjects taking Bextra were twice as likely to suffer a heart attack, blood clot or stroke than the controls. To make matters worse, its use was correlated with the dreaded Stevens Johnson syndrome, a deadly skin condition.

What makes Bextra unusual among recalls is not the number of lawsuits it engendered, or its relatively short time on the market. Rather it is the fact that it yielded one of the largest criminal fines for a U.S. company, as the Pfizer division that made it was fined $1.95 billion after admitting to acting with ‘intent to defraud or mislead’ when promoting its drug.

The FDA ordered the Bextra recall on April 7, 2005, and Pfizer immediately complied.

MERIDIA (sibutramine)
Let's return to another diet drug, withdrawn just two years ago.

Manufactured by Abbott Laboratories, Meridia was approved by the FDA in November 1997 for, as the FDA wrote, "weight loss and maintenance of weight loss in obese people, as well as in certain overweight people with other risks for heart disease."

At the time of approval, the FDA was aware of increases in blood pressure and heart rate in patients treated with Meridia, but the benefits were deemed to outweigh the risks, given that obesity is associated with illness and death on tis own.

But as a post-marketing requirement for the European approval of the drug, due to concerns regarding blood pressure and heart rate, the drug maker was required to continue conducting research, specifically a cardiovascular outcome study, which ran from 2003-2009.

In that study came Meridia's downfall.

The study was published by the New England Journal of Medicine, in mid-2010. In it, participants who took Meridia suffered 28% more heart attacks and 36% more strokes than those taking placebo.

Then came a failure of minds to meet. The authors of the study, all employed by Abbott, concluded that patients with heart problems should not take Meridia. However, the editors of New England Journal of Medicine wrote an in an editorial that the results indicated that Meridia should be recalled.

Notably, upon seeing the preliminary results of the trial in January, the European Medicines Agency recalled Meridia from European markets.

Slow to move, the FDA, members split on whether to ask for a recall or only update labeling, only asked Abbott to include a warning on the label of the drug, even though the FDA had linked 17 deaths to Meridia up to that point.

But a month's more thought on the issue brought about a change at the regulatory body.

By October, 2010, with the FDA having gone over the study’s results again, the handwriting was on the wall, and the FDA requested a recall.

Wrote the FDA, "On October 8, 2010, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) asked Abbott Laboratories to voluntarily withdraw from the U.S. market, its weight loss drug Meridia (sibutramine) because of clinical trial data indicating an increased risk of cardiovascular adverse events, including heart attack and stroke, in the studied population."

"Meridia's continued availability is not justified when you compare the very modest weight loss that people achieve on this drug to their risk of heart attack or stroke," said Dr. John Jenkins, director of the FDA's Office of New Drugs in the agency's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. "Physicians are advised to stop prescribing Meridia to their patients, and patients should stop taking this medication."

AVASTIN (bevacizumab)
To close let's address what happens when the FDA decides a drug is no longer safe or effective for a given illness, but wants to leave it on the market for other diseases. In that case, instead of a recall, approval is revoked. That is just what happened with Avastin and breast cancer.

Viewed by many metastatic breast cancer patients as a last hope, the FDA approved Avastin for breast cancer in 2008 on what's known as an 'accelerated-approval basis,' where a company must present to the FDA more evidence of a drug's efficacy after approval--or face a recall. Avastin got accelerated approval based on a study that showed it could double the time of 'progression-free survival.'

Avastin by 2011 was the top-selling cancer drug in the world, with sales in 2010 of around $7.1 billion.

But when the new study results came in 2009, wrote the FDA "the studies did not confirm that the increase in progression-free survival was as substantial as the original study had suggested," and the FDA determined that the research "did not verify clinical benefit." Turns out Avastin patients didn't live longer, and had to deal with serious risks, including heart attack or heart failure, high blood pressure, hemorrhage, and even tears in the stomach and intestines.

Diana Zuckerman of the National Research Center for Women and Families in Washington said, "The science is clear: Breast cancer patients are more likely to be harmed than helped by Avastin."

So, concluded the FDA in its 2010 press release, "On the basis of all available data relating to the use of Avastin to treat metastatic breast cancer, the agency has determined that the risks of the drug outweigh the benefits for this use." Although not technically recalled, the FDA's approval to use Avastin for metastatic breast cancer was officially revoked.

Avastin still is approved for use in colon, lung, kidney and brain cancers.

Because the FDA can always change its mind on an approved drug, it pays to report any adverse side effects you experience to the FDA’s MedWatch, The Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program. It is only through post-marketing experiences that some of the true dangers inherent in medications have been revealed—and removed.

Robert F Kennedy Jr. Exposes Widespread Corruption at the U.S. CDC

Last month, The Hill published a letter sent by "more than a dozen" senior Center for Disease Control (CDC) scientists charging the agency with nursing an atmosphere of pervasive research fraud.

The group, which claimed to represent scientists across the CDC's diverse branches, calls itself SPIDER (Scientists Preserving Integrity, Diligence and Ethics in Research). The letter to CDC Chief of Staff, Carmen Villar, expressed alarm "about the current state of ethics at our agency." The scientists complained that "our mission is being influenced and shaped by outside parties and rogue interests" and "circumvented by some of our leaders."

The scientists told Villar that, "questionable and unethical practices, occurring at all levels and in all of our respective units, threaten to undermine our credibility and reputation as a trusted leader in public health." The letter charged that staff level scientists "are intimidated and pressed to do things they know are not right," and that, "Senior management officials at CDC are clearly aware and even condone these behaviours."

The scientists cited several recent scandals involving scientific corruption at CDC.

They describe a "cover up," by officials, of mismanagement in CDC's Wise Woman Program, which provides screening in low income neighbourhoods for heart disease, diabetes and other chronic health disorders. According to the letter, CDC officials purposefully misrepresented screening numbers in documents they sent to Congress to conceal failures in the multi-million dollar project. "... definitions were changed and data 'cooked' to make the results look better than they were." The scientists accused high level CDC bosses of suppressing the results of an internal review, involving staff across the CDC, "so media and/or Congressional staff would not become aware of the problems." As part of the systematic cover up, CDC then engaged in a coordinated effort to "bury" these deceptions. "CDC staff has gone out of its way to delay FOIAs and obstruct any inquiry."
The scientists also complain about the "troubling" adventures of Dr. Barbara Bowman, director of CDC's Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, and Dr. Michael Pratt, Senior Advisor for Global Health at the NCCDPHP. Bowman recently left the CDC following shocking media disclosures that the pair had manipulated scientific studies on soft drink safety in collusion with Coca Cola. The CDC flimflam was part of Coke's campaign to pressure the World Health Organisation to relax guidelines for sugar consumption by children in developing nations where the soda industry is aggressively expanding its markets.
The scientists complain that the "climate of disregard" at CDC puts "many" agency scientists in difficult positions. "We are often directed to do things we know are not right." The public record supports SPIDER's allegations that scientists who insist on research integrity suffer persecution by CDC supervisors.

On Sept. 27, the Office of Special Counsel, an independent federal investigative and prosecutorial agency, announced further investigation of corruption in the agency's Zika testing program. That investigation arose from disclosures by laboratory chief Dr. Robert Lanciotti, supervisor of the CDC's prestigious Fort Collins, Colorado lab, that his CDC supervisors were deliberately using a Zika test that agency officials knew would underestimate the number of Zika cases nationwide by some 40 percent. Dr. Lanciotti initially raised the issues internally at CDC and in an email to state public health officials in April 2016. In May, his CDC supervisor responded to this boat rocking by demoting Lanciotti to a non-supervisory position within his lab. Dr. Lanciotti filed a whistleblower claim alleging that his punishment was retaliation for his disclosures. After its initial investigation, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel forced the CDC to reinstate Dr. Lanciotti as lab chief.
In a 2010 scandal that predated the Flint, Michigan tragedy, Congress found that the CDC had deliberately manipulated scientific documents and purposefully made inaccurate claims about the safety of Washington, DC drinking water in order to mislead DC residents into believing that their water was safe. The congressional committee found that the CDC's deceit had caused thousands of DC residents to drink water highly contaminated with lead for years to the detriment of their health. As with the Coca Cola and Wise Woman Program scandals, the immediate victims of CDC scientific fraud and mismanagement were disproportionately poor and minority.
In August 2014, CDC senior vaccine safety scientist, Dr. William Thompson, invoked federal whistleblower status and testified to Congressman William Posey that his CDC supervisors had ordered him to destroy data and manipulate studies to conceal injuries to black children from certain vaccines. According to Thompson's testimony to Congressman Posey, data analysed by Thompson and a team of scientists for a key study showed that black boys who received the MMR vaccine on schedule, had a 250% increase in autism diagnoses. The data also pointed to the vaccine as a culprit in the epidemic of regressive autism in both white and black children. A high level CDC official, Dr. Frank DeStefano, ordered Thompson and his fellow scientists to destroy that data in a large garbage can and omit the damning findings from the published study. That study has been cited more than 110 times in published studies on PubMed, and forms the cornerstone of the CDC's orthodoxy that vaccines don't cause autism.
One of the key figures in the cover up described by Dr. Thompson is the Director of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, Dr. Colleen Boyle. Boyle's seminal career coup at the CDC was orchestrating the cover up of Agent Orange and dioxin toxicity in the 1970s. Boyle's handiwork deprived thousands of Vietnam veterans of health benefits until her fraud was uncovered and exposed in comprehensive investigations by Congress and the Institute of Medicine (IOM). Instead of punishing Boyle for corruption and scientific fraud, the CDC rewarded her with a powerful directorship. From that platform, Boyle has managed the CDC's cover up of the vaccine-autism connection.
The recent SPIDER letter highlights the culture of deep-rooted scientific corruption that has metastasised across CDC and become the subject of a decade- long parade of investigations.

On Aug. 23, 2000, following a three year investigation, a House Government Reform Committee staff report criticised the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the CDC for routinely allowing scientists with conflicts of interest to serve on two influential advisory committees that make recommendations on vaccine policy. The report concluded that, "the majority of members of both committees have financial ties to vaccine manufacturers or hold patents on vaccines under development."
Three years later, a 2003 investigation by UPI's Mark Benjamin found that CDC had ignored Congress's recommendations for reform, which stated: "Members of the CDC's Vaccine Advisory Committee get money from vaccine manufacturers. Relationships have included: sharing a vaccine patent; owning stock in a vaccine company; payments for research; getting money to monitor manufacturer vaccine tests; and funding academic departments."
A year later, in May of 2004, Special Counsel Scott Bloch, of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, sent a letter to Congress urging congressional action on evidence of scientific fraud in the CDC's vaccine division. Bloch described possible collusion between CDC officials and pharmaceutical companies to manipulate and destroy data in order to conceal the links between mercury-preserved vaccines and the exploding incidence of paediatric neurological disorders including autism.
A month later, on June 18, 2004, Congressman Dave Weldon, MD took to the House floor to accuse CDC of failing to reform: "A public relations campaign, rather than sound science, seems to be the modus operandi of officials at the CDC's National Immunisation Program." Congressman Weldon concluded that, "The CDC is too conflicted to oversee this vaccine safety function."
In January 2006, amidst the corruption scandals, the prestigious journal Nature editorialised in reference to vaccine safety that, "there is a strong case for a well-resourced independent agency that commands the trust of both the government and the public."
A year later, in 2007, Weldon and Democratic Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney introduced the Vaccine Safety and Public Confidence Assurance Act of 2007, a bill to create a new agency to supervise vaccine safety that reported directly to the Secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and to mandate independent vaccine safety research. Weldon declared that, despite all the scandals and investigations, there were no signs of reform at CDC. "Federal agencies charged with overseeing vaccine safety research have failed," he said. "They have failed to provide sufficient resources for vaccine safety research. They have failed to adequately fund extramural research. And, they have failed to free themselves from conflicts of interest that serve to undermine public confidence in the safety of vaccines."
In June of that year, U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, of the Senate Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, published "CDC Off Center," yet another lengthy exposé of corruption and mismanagement at CDC. The report detailed "how an agency tasked with fighting disease has spent hundreds of millions of tax dollars for failed prevention efforts, international junkets, and lavish facilities, but cannot demonstrate it is controlling disease."
In December 2009, the HHS Inspector General published the results of a lengthy investigation of corruption in the CDC's vaccine division. That shocking report painted the CDC as a hopelessly corrupted arm of the pharmaceutical industry. It described, in detail, mismanagement, dysfunction and the alarming conflicts of interest that suborn the CDC's research, regulatory and policy making functions. The report discloses how CDC allows vaccine industry profiteers to make millions of dollars by serving on advisory boards that add new vaccines to the schedule. In a typical example, Dr. Paul Offit, in 1999, sat on the CDC's vaccine advisory committee and voted to add the rotavirus vaccine to CDC's schedule, paving the way for him to make a fortune on his own rotavirus vaccine patent. Offit and his business partners sold the royalties to his rotavirus vaccine patent to Merck in 2006 for $182 million. Offit told Newsweek, "It was like winning the lottery!" HHS investigation revealed that 97% of CDC's scientific committee members failed to complete the mandatory conflict of interest disclosures and that as many as 64% of committee members disclosed conflicts of interest that were not acted upon by the CDC.
In 2014, the chief of the HHS Office of Research Integrity (ORI), David Wright, announced his resignation in a scathing letter that characterised HHS as a remarkably dysfunctional agency. ORI's function is to monitor research misconduct including, "falsification" and "fabrication" of science at the CDC, FDA and other public health agencies. Calling the post, "The very worst job I've ever had," Wright decried an "intensely political environment" where his supervisors told him that his job was to be a "team player" and "to make my bosses look good" and where he spent "exorbitant amounts of time in meetings and in generating repetitive and often meaningless data and reports to make our precinct of the bureaucracy look productive," rather than pursuing its mission of detecting and punishing scientific fraud.
Given this long history of deeply entrenched scientific chicanery at the CDC, it's no surprise that scientists are now complaining. If Donald Trump is sincere about his promise to "Drain the Swamp" in the federal bureaucracy, he should begin by appointing an honest and able CDC director who can restore transparency, credibility, robust science and regulatory independence at the agency and who will turn around the culture of corruption that has been so damaging to children's health.

Just to be clear, ingesting aluminum is much different than injecting aluminum. The body has a system set up to reject the aluminum that someone ingests - when injected subcutaneously or into the muscle, the body no longer has those defenses. Additionally, certain ingredients within vaccines like Polysorbate 80 can actually open up (in laman's terms) the blood brain barrier allowing aluminum to enter into the brain. I don't think anyone is arguing that some people are fine when injected with vaccines, but there are certainly and exorbitant amount of injuries (both minor and major) that are occurring that might not have occurred because of vaccines. Furthermore, vaccines may not be the sole cause of these injuries, but they might merely be the straw that breaks the camel's back, so-to-say because of other factors. The amount of testing that goes into vaccinations is abhorrent, in that there is very little testing. Most vaccines do not offer lifetime immunity and the majority of the American population is likely under-vaccinated because their "vaccine immunity" has worn off. As an aside, whether you vaccinate or not should be a parental or personal choice and with the exception of the Hep B vaccine (which in my opinion is pointless unless you use drugs -with needles- and were a crack whore or your small just-born child is sexually active and will be so for the next 10 years or so) vaccines are almost completely ineffective for children under the age of 1 especially when being fed breast milk.

I disagree. Vaccines are one of the most tested piece of medicine that we have. They are tested over and over and over, proven safe. Then there will be one anecdotal case or one nut job Dr and people believe we have a conspiracy on our hands. Pediatricians and immunologists like humans, children in particular. They are not out to get us. As vaccinations have gone up, our world population has soared. A lot of your data is just wrong. At least according to reputable scientists who are experts on the subject. There is so much misinformation about vaccines out there and some know just the trigger words to make vulnerable people doubt established science.

I'm not sure what "data" you are talking about nor how you can disagree with facts, but please (sincerely) tell me which facts you disagree with and I will be happy to provide you with more information and studies. Many vaccines are fast tracked e.g. Gardasil which has had many, many documented ill side effects. For information on vaccine injuries look up VAERS. Moreover, there is a special vaccine court in the United States court of Federal Claims for damages caused by vaccines. I began studying about this in law school. Trust me, things aren't as clear cut as people would make it out to be - on both sides. However, I can definitively say that vaccines aren't safe for everyone, genetics plays a huge part in how individuals react to vaccines. Their reactions can vary from eczema and fevers to fibrile seizures and encephalopathy - which in turn can create autistic like symptoms in some individuals. Moreover, I would just like to point out that you are creating a straw man - I never stated that anyone was "out to get us." I can tell you that I have had various discussions with Nurses, and Nurse Practicioners and some doctors about vaccines and the majority of them know less than I do about vaccines - because they learn most of their stuff from a single chapter in their med school books and the rest they learn from the pharma reps. Usually after a thoughtful discussion, while they still support vaccines more than I do, they definitely no longer hold them to the high infallible standard they once did. It doesn't make sense to say that other drugs can have bad effects on individuals, but say that vaccines are impervious to damaging others. Especially when most vaccines on the market are not very old - very few, if any, that are used today are the same types of vaccines with the ingredients used in vaccines 15-20 years ago.
