It seems up to 60days and nights water only is good for health according to reports from others.
Dr Mercola approves.
I don’t know why you are offended by people doing extended water fasts.brianj wrote: ↑April 29th, 2018, 5:10 pm The religious purpose of fasting is to bring us closer to God. It's not about a cleansing or anything like that; it's really not about our bodies but about our spirits.
If you believe you are healthier or better off fasting for long periods of time or fasting weekly then you are welcome to do so. just be sure to have fasts that are about spiritual things as well as fasts about your body.
If anything, fasting today is way underutilized as a medical intervention. From a health standpoint, fasting helps your body clean up the trash that is inside it. Americans in general way over eat and eat a lot of garbage (condoned by the Food and Medicals Industries secret combinations). For thousands of years, beginning with philosophers like Hippocrates, Socrates and Plato, fasting was recommended for health reasons. The Bible writes that Moses and Jesus fasted for 40 days for spiritual renewal.
I don't know why you think I am offended. I felt the need to point out the spiritual side of fasting because this hadn't been mentioned. As I said, if you want to fast for health reasons you are welcome to do so. But I firmly believe that fasting for health is not the reason we are taught to fast in church.Arenera wrote: ↑April 29th, 2018, 6:21 pmI don’t know why you are offended by people doing extended water fasts.brianj wrote: ↑April 29th, 2018, 5:10 pm The religious purpose of fasting is to bring us closer to God. From a temporal/health standpoint, fasting is symbolic of what can happen in spiritual fasting. Cleaning out the garbage and Spiritual strengthening.

We're also promised health in the Word of Wisdom. Does that mean that not having wine with dinner is purely for physical reasons?Arenera wrote: ↑April 29th, 2018, 8:30 pmActually, do a search.brianj wrote: ↑April 29th, 2018, 6:45 pmI don't know why you think I am offended. Isaiah, an Old Testament prophet, wrote of the Lord’s rich promises to those who fast and help the needy. We are promised peace, improved health, and spiritual guidance. Isaiah tells us of the blessings that come when we fast: “Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward. Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am” (Isaiah 58:8–9).
is it possible you suppose that wine inhibits one spiritually? though it was poured and served by God in that first institution of the sacrament?brianj wrote: ↑April 29th, 2018, 10:32 pmWe're also promised health in the Word of Wisdom. It is intended to be a spiritual fast and can include some physical help also. Autophagy increases 300% at 24 hours, only another 30% up to 48 hours.BeNotDeceived wrote: ↑April 21st, 2018, 8:23 pm I traded much of my soda habit for vanilla unsweetened almond milk. Wish it came single serve in convienent places like soda does, but that’s indicative of our sad situation. UK started taxing SSBs and is already seeing much success.
A couple days a week I’ll intermitant fast 14-18 hours, but was thinking to try a longer period of water and almond milk fasting. Dr. Gundry has really helped a lot of people, including myself, but its difficult to dodge all the lectin laced foods out there, so i just take my proton pump inhibitor, most days.
Water fasting can be done for longer periods of time. Combined with low carb eating (like keto) the body starts burning ketones for fuel instead of sugar/glycogen. When your body is fat adapted and burning ketones, fasting becomes easy. There is also a feeling of peace.
The last couple of weeks i have done 36 hour fasts on Mon, Wed and Fri, i.e. Sun night at 8 pm I stop eating, water fast all day Mon, then start eating again on Tue at 8 am (that is 36 hours). After the first week, it is "easy" to do that the second week and beyond.
While I'm doing this for health/physical reasons, you could easily incorporate the spiritual side.
Personally I don't think so. Given the lack of refrigeration the grape juice would have inevitably fermented. It would need to be drunk fresh from the vine.
