HE IS RISEN!!!!! Enjoy these later day experiences. First,http://www.moroni10.com/mormon_history/ ... acles.html.
And now, vital parts of the restoration that had to wait till the first latter day templehttps://www.lds.org/ensign/1985/07/the- ... n?lang=eng.
The Savior visited at least forty times in the Kirtland era to give instruction to the church. While faithful Jews throughout he world were once again setting a place at the table for Elijah that week(The promise of Elijah, taught by the scribes in Jesus’ day, is still remembered by the Jewish people every year at Passover. A special place is set for him, with a cup of wine. At a prescribed time during the meal, the door is opened for him to enter, quoted in l.d.s..org link above), he returned at Passover, in 1836 as part of the important events of the Kirtland Temple Dedication.
Elijah restored “the power to hold the key of the revelations, ordinances, oracles, powers and endowments of the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood and of the kingdom of God on the earth; and to receive, obtain, and perform all the ordinances belonging to the kingdom of God, even unto the turning of the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the hearts of the children unto the fathers, even those who are in heaven.” Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, comp. Joseph Fielding Smith (Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co. 1938), p. 337. Elijah’s coming had been prophesied more than twenty-two centuries earlier by Malachi. (See Mal. 4:5; D&C 110:14.) Moses, and Elias also returned before Elijah, with the Lord appearing first.
I served in Kirtland in 1983 as a full time missionary. Here is a little inside story. As these events were taking place at Kirtland, the word began to get around the area even among non members of the church that some very special things were happening. These sacred experiences of Heavenly Visitors, and fire on the roof of the Temple became public knowledge even to the point that a newspaper just north of Kirtland in Mentor(on lake Erie) published a story that the "Kirtland Temple had caught fire and burned to the ground". Many spiritual manifestations took place after large sacrifices where made to follow the will of the Lord and build the first latter day Temple. No wonder a definition for the gospel is the "good news", and in this later day dispensation we have been blessed with an abundance of it. Happy, Happy Easter.
