It depends how you use it, and what spiritual company you keep. If for example you sacrifice an animal to it, begin ripping up the Bible on it, yelling curses towards others at it, and attempt to conjure a demonic thoughtform as a physical manifestation of evil, it would probably give off negative energy. I know I wouldn't want to be anywhere near such a thing.

Of course you could do the same thing to a Raggidy Ann Doll (Annabelle the haunted doll for example), lockbox (Dibbuk box), or anything else.

Certain people probably attract certain kinds of spirits as well. Either way, it isn't recommended to converse with familiar spirits.

You can do the exact same thing with a scrabble board.

I played scrabble on this one occasion and the letters formed the word "evil." Yeah...
