For those who never saw any of the Burma Shave signs, here is a quick lesson in our history of the 1930's and '40's. Before there were interstates when everyone drove the old 2 lane roads, Burma Shave signs would be posted all over the countryside in farmers' fields. They were small red signs with white letters.
Five signs, about 100 feet apart, each containing 1 line of a 4 line couplet and the obligatory 5th sign advertising Burma Shave, a popular shaving cream.

A man, a miss,

A car, a curve.

He kissed the miss,

And missed the curve.

The difference between this and the current fashion is that Klinger was doing this to look insane, so he would be taken off active duty.

Science is not a monolith either.

If someone claims "science says", they are wrong on many occasions.

Claiming "scientists say" is equally dubious. Specify which ones and where.

(I saw an advertisement saying "midwives recommend the Covid vaccination"... same question! Which ones? I know for a fact it's not all of them.)

That's the dumbest statue I ever saw. Couldn't even tell what it was so I checked Google for a better view. Still makes no sense. Maybe my skin is the wrong color to get it.

I doubt most black people could make much of that either.

For what it's worth it reminds me of the 1980s version of the Thing when they did it up frozen from the ice.

I read it in one of my old issues of Tinfoil Hat Weekly that communists promoted art that was unbalanced, inharmonious, and puzzling as a means to beat down human spirit and make people lose hope.

I don't know about the communists. But I always felt modern art was something like the Emperor's new clothes where smart and sophisticated people understand it, so if you criticize it, you must be dumb and unsophisticated.

The philanderer Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King...The 20-foot-high and 40-foot-wide bronze sculpture depicts the hands and arms of the couple in an embrace and is the first new monument in the public park in decades. It is a work by Embrace Boston, a racial and economic justice activist group. Yes, get rid of historical figures for stuff like this..

Not that you needed to know that, but there it is.

Ten million dollars. They are not even recognizable, except by body parts. It's likely that those are not even an accurate representation. It's important because of the price we paid. Completely missing is the price HE paid. Forget about equal rights, it's about hugging your wife.

But the blacks are happy. And one black guy got rich. His wife will probably hug him over it.

I think it's beautiful.

A large turd lovenly held up to the viewer as an offering for a hug.

It encapsulates the essence of the cerebral leanings of our lords and masters longings and pretensions to the highest levels of human desires and potential.

All hail.

Say it three times.

Your mileage may vary.

After all.

It is art.

Right?

I for one welcome our omoronocon overlords.

I like to laugh.

Theodor Adorno promoted the idea of dissonance in music as a means of promoting dissatisfaction with capitalism.

I think it's like anything else with art, a matter of personal taste. I like some modern art but not all of it. Just go with whatever you appreciate.

I went to see a Jackson Pollock exhibition, which many folk would describe as just splattered paint. I sincerely enjoyed it. It's questionable how much skill went into it, right enough, but it did do something for me, and not just because someone told me so. Some stuff does little for me.
