The FBI’s Main Klan Man: How Infamous N.C. White Supremacist George Dorsett Made a Mint Off the Feds
BY JON ELLISTON JAN. 14, 2020 1:43 P.M.

George Dorsett
Some state secrets come out in dribs and drabs, becoming more damning along the way.
Case in point: It’s long been known that the Federal Bureau of Investigation funded and gathered intelligence from George Dorsett, the late Greensboro resident who held key positions in the state and national branches of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s. What’s new are details about how Dorsett first reaped a financial windfall and then found himself exposed as a government snitch—and how backroom firestorms erupted at the FBI when congressional investigators revealed the broad brushes of the arrangement.
The revelations come courtesy of the JFK Records Act, which mandated that remaining secret documents potentially related to President Kennedy’s 1963 assassination should be made public unless their release could still compromise national security or the privacy of living individuals. Large remaining batches were unveiled in 2017 and 2018, and while none of those papers provided a smoking gun on the assassination, some offered new information about right-wing extremists who would have been happy to see Kennedy dead.
In North Carolina, Dorsett—described in FBI documents as a “top-tier informant”—was certainly one of those. A fervent white supremacist with a flair for public relations and subterfuge, Dorsett served as a kind of spiritual official, fundraiser, and rouser for the Klan during its most violent years.
Amid the trove of secrets in the JFK files, Dorsett’s case stands out for its revelations about how closely the FBI skirted the line when both undermining and supporting Klan factions at a time when the KKK’s biggest statewide

UK cops block bid to trace Prince Andrew’s location on night he’s accused of sex with teen
By Lee Brown
January 15, 2020

British police have blocked a legal bid to trace Prince Andrew’s bodyguards’ movements on the night he allegedly first had sex with a Jeffrey Epstein accuser.
The disgraced royal claims that he could not have had sex with Virginia Roberts Giuffre in London in March 2001 — because he was grabbing pizza with his daughter at a chain restaurant in the small town of Woking.
With no witnesses of the prince’s pie date, the Mirror Online submitted a Freedom of Information Act request hoping that his royal protection officers’ movements would help prove his whereabouts that day.
But London’s Met police rejected the request, citing national security concerns — and sparking an immediate backlash, the UK news site said.

Former CBP Official Sentenced to 31 Months in Prison for Illegally Selling Guns

A former CBP watch commander who operated an illegal gun-selling business and committed other crimes while serving in law enforcement was sentenced Monday to 31 months in prison.
Wei Xu, 58, pleaded guilty in July to four felonies, including unlawfully dealing in firearms, possessing unregistered firearms, lying to a federal agency, and tax evasion, NBC News reports.
Prosecutors said Xu exploited his position as a law enforcement officer to buy and sell off-roster handguns. He also admitted

The Coalition for Police Contracts Accountability (CPCA) offers recommendations to end the provisions in Chicago Police Department’s Collective Bargaining Agreements that perpetuate the “Code of Silence”
According to the Better Government Association (BGA), it was estimated in 2018 that the City of Chicago had spent over $700-million settling cases of police misconduct in the previous decade. The Chicago Tribune reports that the City of Chicago has spent over $750-million on Chicago Police Officers’ misconduct-related payouts, settlements, and losses at trial since 2004—this includes civil rights cases, car crash claims, racial discrimination complaints, sexual harassment suits, and some other legal matters. The annual amount the city spent paying the fees of private lawyers to defend the Chicago Police Department (CPD) against civil rights lawsuits has grown steadily from around $12.5-million in 2013 to over $30-million in 2018. As stated by attorney Stuart Chanen, the City needs to “reevaluate the degree to which they’ve allowed the [police unions] to drive civil rights defenses in a way that’s very harmful to the citizens of the City of Chicago.”
The economic burden placed on Chicago tax-payers to pay for police corruption is a minor issue compared to the detrimental intergenerational affects such entrenched systemic CPD misconduct has had on our City’s marginalized and divested communities. For instance, officers involved in or witnessing shootings are allowed a 24-hour grace period before being required to submit statements to the Independent Police Review Authority. As a result, in 2015, this process led to the false statements of sixteen CPD personnel, which demonized the teenage victim, Laquan McDonald, and permitted his shooter, Jason Van Dyke, to avoid murder charges for almost a year.
Police departments across the country have proven time and again that they do not have the capability, impartiality, or – frankly – the willingness to provide the internal oversight necessary to police themselves. Thanks to local journalists, Van Dyke was held accountable only after a judge ordered the release of the dashcam footage to the public. None of the cameras on squad cars at the scene of Laquan McDonald’s shooting, recorded sound and at least three did not work at all. The Columbia Journalism Review states that 80% of CPD dashcam systems present failed to record audio due to “operator error or in some cases intentional destruction” by the officers.
The federal consent decree, approved in January 2019, aims to dictate the direction of police reform in Chicago, likely for decades to come. While the consent decree is certainly a step in the right direction, “no part of that decree transforms the deeply rooted biases and barriers to justice that are inscribed within the Chicago police union contracts.” There are three collective bargaining agreements governing the supervisory positions at the Chicago Police Department. These current contracts – all of which expired almost three years ago and are expected to enter arbitration this month – include specific “limitations on transparency and protections that inhibit accountable government” by enabling officers to lie about misconduct.

Make America Radical Again: A Conversation with Harvey J. Kaye
by DANIEL FALCONE
Harvey J. Kaye is the Ben & Joyce Rosenberg Professor of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, the Founding Director of the University’s Center for History and Social Change, and the author of numerous books, including The British Marxist Historians, The Education of Desire (winner of the Isaac Deutscher Memorial Prize) Why Do Ruling Classes Fear History?, Thomas Paine and the Promise of America, The Fight for the Four Freedoms (The Nation’s 2014 progressive book of the year), and most recently, Take Hold of Our History: Make America Radical Again (Zero Books). This spring he will also publish FDR on Democracy (Skyhorse Books).
In this interview, Daniel Falcone discusses with Harvey Kaye his latest work and breaks down the importance of the left to reclaim the framing of US history from the conservative right. He also discusses the relevance of Obama to the emergence of Trump, the rightward drift of the US political spectrum, and the (forgotten) radical idea of America exceptionalism. Kaye argues that we can take on the Establishment and counter the long-standing neoliberal – and emergent neo-fascist – order by reminding Americans who they are and what that demands. Moreover, he cites Bernie Sanders as the candidate who has most effectively begun to speak to and engage Americans’ progressive, if not radical impulses and energies.
Daniel Falcone: Your book is titled Take Hold of Our History and is subtitled Make America Radical Again. Can you comment on the specific meanings of these titles?
Harvey Kaye: If you have aspirations to be a transformative leader, you are going to have to transform the narrative

STUDENTS EXPOSE PLOT TO CAST DOUBT ON CLIMATE CHANGE

In 2019, the year youth around the world stepped out of the classroom and onto the streets to demand climate action, four students stayed at their desks. They had a different plan.
As the climate movement sought to expose adults and institutions for failing to address climate change, Brown University undergraduates Jessie Sugarman, Cole Triedman, Andrew Javens, and David Wingate sat down together to get some specifics: to find hard evidence, name names, and hold people and corporations accountable for their role in the crisis.
As part of Brown’s Climate and Development Lab, they were tasked with developing and answering a research question.
With an in-depth study into 10 investor-owned utility companies, they unraveled a byzantine, well-funded, and well-coordinated effort by an elite group of coal, rail, and utility companies to question the reality of climate change and cast doubt on the science that backs it up.
The involvement of freight rail companies and the entire utilities industry in what the report calls the “climate-change countermovement” had been largely unreported.
“They’ve connected the dots in a way other people have not,” their professor, Timmons Roberts, told WhoWhatWhy.
The findings of these twenty-somethings reveal that corporate opposition to climate change is broader and more sophisticated than previously realized.
It goes beyond ExxonMobil and the Koch brothers. It is hidden in the shadows, behind the facades of front groups, creative marketing tactics, and stacks of cash.

New reports confirm old reports: The FBI continues to monitor non-violent black activists

A strange fever overcame American voters in late 2016. Something that could have only resulted from our blindness to history. Something that makes us rethink the very foundations of our democracy. Something that likely had our activist forebears rolling over in their graves.
I am, of course, talking about the completely ludicrous idea that the Federal Bureau of Investigation—a brutally racist organization with a trail of dead bodies and shattered lives in its wake—was somehow a comrade, maybe even a savior, in the war between the people of this country and President Donald Trump.
A few weeks ago in “the FBI is not your ally” news, we covered the organization’s war against black independent booksellers in the late 1960s. This week’s installment comes to us from George Joseph and Murtaza Hussain over at the Intercept.

About Those FBI Counterterrorism Assessments …

The Department of Justice Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, released a report this week on the FBI’s use of counterterrorism assessments to find and stop so-called “Homegrown Violent Extremists” (HVEs). The report notes that the FBI
defines HVEs as global jihad-inspired individuals who are in the United States, have been radicalized primarily in the United States, and are not receiving individualized direction from a foreign terrorist organization (FTO).
That definition excludes the white supremacist or Neo-Nazi domestic terrorists that in the post-9/11 period have actually accounted for more U.S. homeland terrorism-related deaths than those inspired by Salafist ideology. Why Horowitz and his team did not question the FBI’s very selective definition of who is considered an HVE is just one troubling aspect of the report.
Given the extremely low threshold requirements in the FBI’s Domestic Investigations and Operations Guide (DIOG) for opening an assessment, the potential for wrongly targeting an individual or group for data collection, or even confidential human source (CHS) recruitment

The Torture Machine: Racism and Police Violence in Chicago

author attorney Flint Taylor

The Torture Machine, of which there is a picture on the book cover, it’s quite graphic. This picture depicts the Torture Machine, or a torture machine. There were several torture machines, but this black box with a generator in it, with wires coming from the generator with alligator clips on the wires with the crank on that generator, was a device that the notorious commander, who started out as a detective and worked his way up as a Lieutenant and became a commander of police in Chicago, Jon Burge, and his men, who were known internally as “Burge’s @#$ kickers,” used among other torture techniques and implements to torture African American men on the South Side of Chicago in the seventies and eighties. In the late 1980s, Burge moved to the West side to what was known as Area Three detective headquarters and he, as commander there, and his men, many of whom he brought from Area Two on the South Side to the West Side, continued the torture.

...On Thursday, more of Trump’s darkest actions are coming to light.
A copy of the book made available to Business Insider makes it clear that Donald Trump was not only aware that Saudi usurper Mohammed bin Salman was behind the kidnapping, torture, dismemberment, murder, and burning of Washington Postcolumnist Jamal Khashoggi: Trump deliberately acted to provide cover for that murder. In fact, Trump called up Woodward to brag that he had protected bin Salman from investigations by Congress.
"I saved his @#$," said Trump. "I was able to get Congress to leave him alone. I was able to get them to stop." To do this, Trump did what he always does—he lied about it. And he also refused to hand over a report that was required by law.

My interview discussing the origin of Coronavirus, "gain of function" research, and key people aligned with creating and prolonging the pandemic

Here's the one hour video:
 https://www.facebook.com/13341879933/vi ... 221691661/
Ronnie Cummins and Alexis Baden-Mayer of the Organic Consumers Association were wonderful to speak with about Covid-19, its murky origins, and the murky response.  Both the Organic Consumers Association and I are trying to get out critical information to the public on all aspects of coronavirus and the pandemic.
I encourage readers to consider signing one of two petitions calling for a ban on biological warfare (a.k.a. gain of function) research:
1.  For doctors, lawyers, scientists and policy experts to sign
2.  For everyone else to sign
----------------
With respect to a new comment about me being the only person saying this is a lab-derived organism, that is hardly the case.
I would say, instead, that Andersen K et al. in Nature Med last March is the only scientific paper claiming it isn't.  And that paper has been widely criticized, not only by me but many others.  It makes no sense, among other things.
A recent 48 page summary of much of the evidence is here:
https://changingtimes.media/2020/10/12/ ... -traction/
There is plenty of evidence for a lab origin on my blog, going back to late March.  I have simply moved on to analyze other aspects of the pandemic more recently.

FDA promised very extensive surveillance for adverse effects of Covid vaccines--presentation to FDA VRBPAC Advisory Committee, October 22, 2020

https://www.fda.gov/media/143557/download

It should be apparent that FDA was aware by October 22, 2020 of many of the side effects of Covid vaccines that the public only learned about later.  It should also be apparent that FDA (and CDC has access to even more methods for surveillance) has many databases to learn about vaccine safety--whose data are being hidden from the public.  The EUA statute requires that known benefits and risks be provided to potential vaccine recipients.  That is not happening.

The first slide below, "Slide 17" at the URL above, would suggest that FDA was well aware, presumably from the clinical trials, of all the severe adverse events that have subsequently been publicized.  But if FDA knew about these 9 months ago, it has been slow to tell the public.  For instance, we only just learned about Guillain Barre syndrome last week being a known adverse effect.
