Have you seen the statistics for how many men and women die every year from masturbation? It is staggering! Of course gluttony is okay. If your body is a temple why not make one as big as a Walmart?

Most members lust for worldly things and spend too much for things they don't need. As I've mentioned many times before, I've seen divorces in extended family because the wife was not satisfied with the lifestyle her husband provided. ZERO shame for her over that. No disciplinary action for blowing up the family.

Well duh, the scriptures say "...eat,drink and be merry..." and if a hubby can't provide the latest consumer items of course he should be kicked to the side.

A teenager that occasionally masturbates is certainly a bigger problem than destroying families, right? What is wrong with us?!!!

Well of course. The scriptures are filled with condemnations of masturbation. They are everywhere! Show me one instance of the scriptures condemning divorce. Go ahead, just one.

Were I to create worlds, I would describe sin as actions with negative consequences. I don't see the negative to occasional masturbation by teenagers. Would we prefer teen pregnancies?

Are we saying it is bad simply because it feels good? So why provide refreshments at church functions.? What makes one form of pleasure evil and another good?

If we are not to feel any sexual pleasure before getting married, then why did God design us to reach puberty at age 10 or so? Is that some kind of sick joke or something?

Well, most women in the Bible got married or pregnant at 14. Of course in those days people married younger. I personally think that most LDS males and females by age 25 who are not married have had sex (I have seen statistics that suggest the rates are higher for LDS females). Maybe we need to encourage marriage at the ages it tended to occur in 1980 - 23-24 for males and 20 - 22 for females.

There is no excuse for sin. Statistics mean absolutely nothing. Scriptures tell us to repent and forsake sin. This is what is most important...not how many people sin and why.

God does not allow sin in any degree of allowance. This we must learn and accept.

Per the word "datum" I stand corrected. I do, however, think that too many statistics are being giving in bad light to deceive others.

God not allowing sin in any degree of allowance is a statistic of fact; no room for any other interpretation. Zilch, Notta, not one iota of another possible meaning. Carried over, unrepented of sins by humans thinking they're going to be with God...is nil, zilch, Notta, can't happen or not one iota.

Yes, all sin is bad, but there are different degrees of sin. When we ignore the more serious sins, you have to wonder what is going on.

Jesus talked about straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel. He also hated the hypocrites who would stone the adulteress.

So lets just keep shaming the young teenager cursed with hormones for masturbation or any thoughts of sex, while we ignore those who blow up families for lusting after material things.

So very true. Varying degrees of punishment if you confess a sin to the bishop proves that. Some sins are minor, some huge.

You didn't quote one sin that can be allowed in the eyes of God. You chose to write a tiny synopsis so as to cover up the fact that there is not one sin in existence that God will allow in his presence. There are sins of commission and omission, just pick one.
There are no small or tiny sins, only repentance in order to keep the slate clean.

Mosiah 4:29,30

That site keeps mentioning “interviews”. A confession isn’t an interview. They are different things.

When I was younger I decided I would like to tell my Bishop about some previous indiscretions in my life. I couldn’t understand why I had a stupor of thought and the Spirit seemed to be saying: don’t do it and don’t tell this man anything. I still went ahead and spoke to the Bishop,

A few months later I was home teaching and was visiting the brother in law of the Bishop.
While I was there he said to me, “listen, in future do not tell the Bishop anything. That same evening after you spoke to him he went home, told my sister and the kids everything you had told him and they all had a good laugh about it”

That’s good you prayed about it. Keep praying. Don’t tell your bishop. If it interferes with your life (is an addiction), then confide in your parents if you can, so you can get help. If it’s not an addiction, don’t worry about it.

Every boy and many most - girls struggle with this in teen years. Trust me, they know. You go to a bishop only if you think he can help you . Just make sure you don't watch porn. Then you are in a big hole. I speak as a branch president and a school teacher ..

3. If we are supposed to be led by a spirit of peace and comfort then why does the idea of talking to your bishop or parents fill you with fear and apprehension? That doesn’t sound like the enabling power of Christ but instead the compulsion of Satan.

It shocks me to see the kind of brainwashing our church leaders have rendered on the youth. Do you, deep down, feel that what you are doing is “evil”? Or do you feel ashamed of what others think, and confused?

The sin next to murder is adultery, which means to have sexual relations with someone who is not your spouse. That’s because sex creates children and unless children are created and raised in love, the parents are Wrecking the child before he or she has a chance.

What you do with yourself on your own is not going to result in illegitimate children. What you are experiencing is a desire for love and a longing for connection. It is an indicator that you do not feel fulfilled, just like 99.99% of humanity. There is nothing wrong with you and frankly, it is not the business of anyone but yourself.

Let’s face it, if you didn’t want to do it, you wouldn’t. That’s not an accusation of hypocrisy, it’s a statement indicating that your subconscious knows what you really want, no matter how much your conscious mind is in denial or confused.

And to be honest, there is not a thing your bishop can do to help you with it, because what you think of as your “problem” is really your subconscious solution to the real problem, and only Father can help you figure out what the real problem is.

Anyway, to answer your original question, I think it is entirely dependent on whether or not the bishop feels like telling your parents. But the fact that you don’t want to tell your parents is an indicator that things are not alright at home, and that would be my first hint as to why you do not feel connection and love in your life like you should.
