Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive to COVID-19 after the President’s close aide also tested positive.

"America’s doomsday planes are in the air following news that the nation’s commander-in-chief, President Donald Trump, has COVID-19.
Two US Navy E-6B Mercury nuclear war command posts were observed in flight this afternoon, one on each coast of the United States. They were initiating the “Take Charge and Move Out” (TACAMO) defence protocol – essentially dispersing the command and communications facilities needed to control the US nuclear arsenal.
These aircraft are activated by the Pentagon when it is deemed necessary to communicate with the US Navy’s secretive nuclear missile submarines, stealth bombers and missile silos.
The move underscores the potential severity of the situation.
The President of the United States is also the commander-in-chief of the nation’s armed forces, including its nuclear forces. The incapacitation of whoever holds this position could be seen as an opportunity by potential belligerents.
COVID-19, which has so far killed 200,000 US citizens, is particularly deadly among older sufferers. President Trump is 74 years old."

"The potential ramifications to this are many: At the very least, Trump will be required to temporarily halt his campaign while he quarantines, and will miss the next two presidential debates, planned for October 7th and 15th. Longer term, should the President exhibit symptoms, under the 25th Amendment he would have the option to transfer power to Mike Pence while he recovers. According to the CDC, a 74-year old man, as Trump is, has a five-times higher risk of being hospitalised by COVID-19 than their current reference group (18-29 year-olds), and is 90 times more likely to die."

Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence have tested negative.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and White House advisors Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have also tested negative.

US President Donald Trump has left the White House and is being taken to Walter Reed Medical Centre, a military hospital in Washington D.C.

Kellyanne Conway, until recently a senior adviser to Donald Trump, has become the latest person in the US President’s orbit to test positive for the coronavirus. Ms Conway is now the seventh person with the virus who attended an event in the White House’s Rose Garden a week ago, where Mr Trump announced he had chosen Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the Supreme Court’s vacant seat.
The others are Mr Trump himself, his wife Melania, Utah Senator Mike Lee, North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis, the University of Notre Dame’s president, Reverend John Jenkins, and a White House reporter who has not been identified.
