Last Movie You Watched

Say what you thought about the film, who's in it, what's about, etc., and try to include the rating and the reason for its rating in your review so that the parents here can be informed about whether or not they should take their kids to go see it.

Yesterday I rented "No Escape" starring Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, and Pierce Brosnan... what a suspenseful, heart pounding story... of a young executive for a national company (Wilson) who moves his family to an Asian country like Thailand to help with a big project that supposedly will benefit the population, provide jobs, etc... But many of the "people" don't want the foreign company coming in and taking over... so there is a revolution of sorts with a large faction of the population fighting the govt and other supporters...

On the flight over, Wilson and his family meet a fellow passenger (Brosnan) who has travelled to the area frequently and who helps them get to their hotel etc. As they arrive at the hotel the "revolution" breaks out in earnest... what follows is the story of how Wilson tries to get his family to safety... with the help at opportune times they receive from Brosnan who is like a "CIA" type... lots of violence, but in the context of the film seems perfectly plausible.

I've been sick with a bad cold so I sluffed church and watched Father Goose starring Cary Grant. I suspect everyone has seen it, it was filmed in the 60's so old farts like Robert Sinclair probably watched it in the theaters. He was suckered into being stationed on an isolated pacific island to watch for and report Japanese planes during WW2 for the Brits. He ends up taking on a teacher and a bunch of young girls. He falls for the teacher and they get married while being attacked by the Japs. It's probably rated PG and it's a comedy.

Ironically, "Into the West" which is a movie I snuck into my cousins movie collection. When they found it, they wondered what it was and watched it last night.

Avengers: Age of Ultron. We had a 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. weekend and it fit into the timeline of the T show.

If you like fast cars, like I do.......Bullitt with Steve McQueen........coolest 1968 fastback mustang driven in a chase scene by Steve. His girlfriend drives a vintage Karmann Ghia that's pretty cool too. The plot thickens as Bullitt (Steve McQueen) has a witness killed that he was protecting. Bulitt has to cover up the death by sending the body to the morgue under a john doe. He chases people who crash and burn as he investigates another homicide and tries to find himself. Typical 1968 movie with classic good looks with twists and turns. It's a good flick. Steve McQueen and the mustang are amazing! It's probably rated pg. One scene has the girlfriend wearing Bullitts shirt....some violence, tame by today's standards.

Bgood - have you ever read a book called confessions of an economic hit man? Check that out.

Last movie was late November, jurassic park 2. My oldest son was dying to see these pg 13 movies since he was 6, and he finally turned 13, so mom would let him watch. He was enthralled (he loves dinos) his entire birthday watching the whole jurassic series. Aahhh, the innocence of youth.

Recently I watched a true story entitled, "As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me." It's about a German soldier who was captured by the Russians during WW2 and sent to upper Siberia to die in a work camp where he witnessed and endured severe cruelty for several years. He escaped in the dead of winter, and through the grace of God, he walked thousands of miles and survived many dangers to make it home to his wife and 2 children about 10 years later. He had a strong faith in God, which carried him through all his trials. Very inspirational!

I love the fax machine in that movie, the way everyone is gathered around to watch the cutting edge technology work its magic.

The Cokeville Miracle.

I know it's had a lot of hype in LDS circles, but I thought it was rubbish.
