"Come unto me... and I will give you rest."

Post by cyclOps »

This world is broken. Society is plagued with many issues. Many of us think the government is the one who can and should fix it, that "if only so and so was elected, they would bring about real change." It doesn't matter who holds public office or who gets elected president next year. As long as our society stays the same, nothing will change.

The solution starts at home. Strengthen yourself and your family. Make your home a refuge from the chaos and commotion of the world. Strengthen your neighbors. Build strong and meaningful relationships. Be morally straight. Stand for something virtuous. Jesus Christ set the perfect example for us. This is my favorite time of year because we celebrate His birth into this world and all that it means. He was born to offer a remedy for all the problems we see in the world today. All we need to do is turn and follow Him. He still lives and loves us. The promise remains:

"28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." -Matthew 11

You don't have to share this, but please share your love with your family and neighbors. God and His Son love us.

Great post! The Proclamation to the family speaks of this. We will not stand on another's testimony, so yes, strengthen yourself and your family, be careful of what you read, beware of false teachers, pray always and listen carefully to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Even the very elect will be deceived. God lives and Jesus is the Christ, follow Him.

All our attention should be turning to our ONLY hope of refuge, long overdue:
D&C 45 wrote:67 And the glory of the Lord shall be there, and the terror of the Lord also shall be there, insomuch that the wicked will not come unto it, and it shall be called Zion.

68 And it shall come to pass among the wicked, that every man that will not take his sword against his neighbor must needs flee unto Zion for safety.

69 And there shall be gathered unto it out of every nation under heaven; and it shall be the only people that shall not be at war one with another.

70 And it shall be said among the wicked: Let us not go up to battle against Zion, for the inhabitants of Zion are terrible; wherefore we cannot stand.
And I truly hope this thread doesn't devolve into contention... (Thank you, LDScop)

The condensed version of coming unto Christ is to be baptized (born) in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.

The expanded version might look like.
1. Take his flesh
2. Take his blood
3. Take his Name
4. Always remember Him.
5. Keep his commandments (do as he does)
6. Have His spirit.

I will give you rest as you become like I AM.

Thanks for those thoughts LDScop. Love the music. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is true.
