If Mitt really wanted to harm Trump's chance for President, he would have given him an endorsement.Lexew1899 wrote:

Donald Trump is overturning their very profitable apple cart. I'm not convinced that the senate won't vote to convict Trump on this phony impeachment for that very reason. It was just a few years ago that Utah Senator Mike Lee was a persistent critic of Google. In 2011, Lee grilled then-CEO Eric Schmidt at a congressional antitrust hearing. Before joining the Senate, Lee pushed for a law that would have banned Google’s largest force of revenue. That would be keyword-based advertising. Lee also egged on antitrust investigations of big tech and then accused the FTC, the Federal Trade Commission, of going too easy on powerful companies — and good for him.
But fast forward to today. Today, Mike Lee is one of Google’s chief allies in Congress — maybe its biggest ally in the Republican Party. Lee has questioned whether Congress should even bother with antitrust investigations of tech companies. Lee has introduced legislation that would make it harder for the government to block corporate mergers. Lee has complained about the E.U. imposing fines on Google for its behavior.
Lee even came on this program and told that conservatives shouldn’t worry about Google or other tech companies silencing conservative speech online.
What happened? Why the change? Well, it’s possible that Mike Lee just woke up one morning and decided that his previous views had been wrong. Maybe. And yet evidence compiled by the Google Transparency Project suggests there may have been other factors at play here.
Starting in 2013, Google spent millions of dollars rolling out its high-speed Internet service, Google Fiber, in both Provo and Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2015, Google hosted a high-profile fundraiser for Lee at its Silicon Valley law firm. The fundraiser got a lot of attention, so Google backed out. But the fundraiser itself went ahead, and Lee received a sizable donation from Google’s political action committee.
Ever since that fundraiser and the money he took, Lee’s interest in having the FTC investigate tech companies seems to have completely evaporated. Google knows there’s more to politics than just donations. So in 2017, they hired a close ally of Lee’s to manage the company’s relationship with conservatives. The Internet Association — that is a trade group of which Google is a part — hired away Mike Lee’s senior counsel from the Senate Judiciary Committee. Google also collaborated with the Heritage Foundation and American Enterprise Institute, two of Washington’s biggest conservative thinktanks.

There has always been corruption, but the "globalization" ushered in by the Bretton Woods agreements took it to international levels as capital sought better ways to exploit both resources and people (human resources). And with the internet making connections even more simple the people at the top have exploited their positions to cannibalize the competition unable to compete due to lack of political connections and easily accessible capital. The politicians have used their positions to take their pieces of the pie and yes, they are so interlocked, both Dems and Reps, that to pull one out and expose it would yank out dozens of others as well. The media is owned by corporations as well. Why do you think the media has shut down the Epstein story? If a guy was in Russian prison threatening to expose many Russian officials of corruption, and then died under very questionable circumstances, the US media machine would be going 24/7 with the story. The silence regarding Jeffrey Epstein merely illustrates the corruption of the system. Wonder how many other Epstein-like operations are out there with dirt on who-knows-how-many prominent people in our society.Donald Trump is overturning their very profitable apple cart. Trump has his own very profitable apple cart:markharr wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2019, 6:46 am Every wonder why Lindsey Graham of the senate intelligence committee isn't holding his own investigations in spite of promising that he would back in May? Many people are speculating that he isn't doing that because it would implicate his long time good friend John McCain but there's also this.

Top Democrat's wife may have gained 'illegal private benefit' from his committee activities
Remind me again. How much is Trump getting paid to put up with all of this garbage?
I believe Mitt's behavior has been more honorable overall. If you want to know why I don't trust or admire Trump, just read and listen to everything in my posts. Who do I want to be president? It really doesn't matter at this point. Trump was the chosen one to take on China, and I'm anticipating we really do have to take them on before his term is up. If we continue on with a democrat, I'm sure the elites in power and Russia and China will manipulate that person like they've been manipulating everyone on both sides of the isle in our government for many years. Election time I will probably just write in Romney's name to acknowledge that we were offered something good but choose Obama instead. Did you vote for Romney or someone else that election?
Then you may as well be voting Democrat, and against every principle of the Gospel. Sorry, that is just the way it is. This election will be winner take all and if you think the liberals are crazy now, wait until they are given the opportunity to have a feeding frenzy over all the policies they find objectionable. It will not be pretty. And I doubt the USA will last long. Of course maybe Alfred Pike was right and the left and atheists will go crazy, a huge war will start, humanity will suffer great loss, and afterwards, after they exterminate the left and atheists an era of Luciferian worship will commence.Election time I will probably just write in Romney's name to acknowledge that we were offered something good but choose Obama instead. I'm not totally against voting for the best out of the two. I voted for Bush and John McCain. But with Trump, I could not knowingly vote for someone whose personal life of adultery and foul language and everything else was so in your face. I also was more educated to know that the libertarian/nationalist movement had been hijacked, and that he was likely a tool to bring in a more nationalist movement, in order to bring conflict and a financial collapse.Fiannan wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2019, 11:28 amThen you may as well be voting Democrat, and against every principle of the Gospel. By the way, if you wish you can go back to Romney threads in 2012 where I defended him over and over again.
It's okay, if Trump loses we can finally put an end to religion in the USA and embark on a glorious new dawn; an era of illumination and growth as humans no longer hampered by the traditions of old. Children will no longer see out-dated classifications of male and female pushed on them, and parents who attempt to prevent their growth as individuals will be allowed to learn through community outreach how to purge such thoughts. It takes a village to raise a child you know and the village can ill afford dangerous attitudes, including religion, to pollute their minds.I'm not totally against voting for the best out of the two.
