TV making men more girlie

Post by iWriteStuff »

It's a thing:

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... minineSide" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

TV teaches men to be women and women to be men. It's not only acceptable these days, it's preferred.

So who are all these promiscuous women chasing? Girlie men? :ymsick:

My oldest daughter wishes men were more like the ones on "Lord of the Rings." Although she also really likes the main character in Sherlock, the British detective show. She says she hates men in short hair (guess where the trend for short hair for men came from in the 1970s when hair was longer. Go ahead, guess).

And not all men on TV are passive, effeminate gay men or metrosexual men. There are also alpha males in "The Walking Dead." Took one of those "Which character are you from 'Fear the Walking Dead?'" and got Daniel Salazar. That was cool.

Anyway, maybe we need to toughen up our young men. Give them more responsibility and get them stronger. I know an Iranian woman who is concerned her son who is a physics and mathematics nerd needs to be stronger. So she signed him up for a personal weight trainer to make him more macho. That is good parenting.

My favorite Actor was "The Duke" (John Wayne for those who don't know). I also like Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck, Humphrey Bogart, Clint Eastwood (although I wont ever see Bridges of Madison County).

I think that we have lost our values to the point that we may confuse muscly men who fight, with men of Character. While I have never seen "The Walking Dead". So you can correct me about this if you want to, but most modern variations on "Manly Men" are more like cartoon heroes, than truly manly men.

If you ever see John Wayne as Sgt. Stryker, in the "Sands of Iwo Jima", or Bogart as Frank McCloud in "Key Largo", you will see a certain "Je ne sais quoi" about being a man, that you cannot find today, even in today's macho heroes. I would also include Gregory Peck in "The Big Country" as a great example of manliness. And to prove that a man doesn't have to be "tough" to be manly, I would also recommend Gregory Peck in "To Kill a Mockingbird" as also a great example of a man.

Also recommend Gary Cooper in Sgt. York. The story covers the need to be humbled, and the need to know when to abandon the humble for aggressive. Based on the real Sgt. York, Medal of Honor Recipient in WWI.

skmo,

Good selection. The Coop nails it! I would put Gary Cooper up their with my other selections of actors who know how to portray a character who is a Real man. His character in High Noon is also a man to admire. Again a lot more to being a man than being tough and fighting a lot.

Traits, or qualities of maleness are evidence of an inner commitment to be a man.

But it is the inner commitment to be a man that makes a man.

So it is easy to get to the bottom of this question of who is a man. Ask him if he has chosen to be a man.

For a woman it is the same question. Have you chosen to be a woman?

In the Scriptures of the lost tribes of Israel is the explanation of the Germanic title of Frau. Frau is a title for women who take upon themselves the commitment to be like Mary, the mother of Jesus. Men who join Mary's family through an oath to her son to be like Him are also given a similar title, of being Fraumen, Freemen. In the family of Mary, as Mary is the mother of ONE, the daughter of TWO and has the child of THREE, the Anglo-Saxon names for the members of the Godhead.

In our church the role of gender comes from an inner commitment to be a woman or to be a man, as initially indicated by our God, by one of 2 physical body type attribute sets.

God Bless,
Darren

So what of men who choose to be more like women? I feel the culture is shifting that way. Feminism is trying to define masculinity, and it is succeeding. I have to admit to feeling a little sick to my stomach every time a speaker in church praises women with the encouragement to the men to be more like them. Women are great, sure, but what's so bad about wanting to be a man?

In our church the focus upon commitments comes with a reward from God, or a penalty for not having that focus.

At some point, a man who chooses to forgo the basic commitment to be a man to instead embark in the no-man's-land of femininity, he looses his reward. And that goes for the women as well.

In our church it is like that well known "Stagecoach Driver Parable," as it is best to stay as far away from the edge as possible.

Men and Women have distinct roles to focus upon, and there is nothing transgender about that. We force ourselves to focus, by the principle of covenants and commitments. Nobody can be gay or lesbian if they force themselves to be straight. Sure, they may hate it or find it unpleasant, but that is how commitments work, to be in that mode of focusing upon God's will.

In the Scriptures of the lost tribes of Israel is an explanation of the word Woman as well as the word Man. The Nordic God Mannus is Adam, he is Man, and where we get the word Man (that is why you don't want to use the name of God in vain by saying, "Oh Man!") and if we are of His kin, than we are Man's kin or Mankin, and of course you want to be kind to the kin of Man, we are all Mankind.

When Man was put on this earth he was given his help meet, who was focused in her role, like unto the Lord, because of her gifts, (suffer the will of God) so we call her Wo-(an Anglo-Saxon name for the Lord) Man, of both the physical nature of Mannus and the nature of Woden in spirit and intelligence, with combining elements of all three Gods of the Godhead. Women's role has a greater divinity than of that of the men, as they have a unique role that only they can do, as also is the Lord's role, because of their gifts. As a spirit Woden was given the seed of Thor (which means, "The Perfect One")to build upon in his mother's (Mannus Kin's) womb, and women are given the seed of Man and the spirits of our Thorough Father to build upon. Jesus and Women do the same work of combining all three elements of Intelligence, spirit and material being.

Women have their own divine role, to follow after the commitment of Eve. Men are to be followers in the footsteps of the first Man in the work of men.

God Bless,
Darren

Doesn't the Bible say that a man who dresses up as a woman is a death penalty offense?

Not sure thats good parenting. People are who people are. You can encourage and shape but if they are not interested then if you pursue you will potentially cause problems of shaming. There is no shame in being a smart nerdy guy - you just have to be okay with not being able to compete with the tough guys.

Not all women want a macho man or an alpha male.
