"the ..... will mock ..because of our weakness in writing?

Forum members,
I consider myself a "Rocky Mountain boy" having spent most of my life in these mountains. Life has been good to me with a great wife and four children and we strive to live strong constitution and faith base lives. We are a military family with agricultural backgrounds and believe in self sufficiency and interdependence, (carefully choosing the latter).
I have gained much over the last months reading your posts and getting to know you a little. I have hesitated to post because of my limited formal education (writing skills), and feel the same as stated in Ether 12:24 "thou has made us that we could write but little, because of the awkwardness of our hands"( and may I add computer skills). However, while gaining tremendous insight and knowledge here I have also seen discouragement and fear posted and I have a difficult time shutting my mouth when something needs to be said.
As a convert to the LDS church and with my background I may be able to offer some insights some don't have and hopefully provide some inspiration, thought and value. While I say a convert that is somewhat a misstatement as my mother was LDS, my father raised me in another faith and never the "twain shall meet"! So on my mothers (and my wife's)side are faithful saints that were there with the first pioneers to the shores of America and the prophets at the beginning of the restoration, including relatives massacred at Haun's Mill. On my father side warriors who fought against oppression in Europe and came to the US in the 1800's. This ancestry has encouraged a faith and attitude that in the fight for freedom does not lend itself to being herded with the sheep.
I take literally the words of the prophets and prefer to engage in those activities and conversations that encourage thought and action. We have helped many people over the years with their preparations because that is an action event and not simply more conversation and speculation. My favorite posts will be those which encourage action and work towards preparations. I believe that these are the times that have been prophesied and all one has to do is look around to see the difficulties we face.
There are two types of thought when it comes to preparations. First is calamity thinking and second is provident living. I choose to prepare for calamities by living providently and associating with those that do the same. This way we will be standing at the door when the call is made, rested and strengthened, with oil in our lamps, surrounded by our family, friends, and associates who "have not been foolish", and we will enter in when the door is opened. We don't spend a lot of time trying to drag people along but choose instead to look for those who want to be on the right path.
I look forward to our association and hope what I add is fruitful.
