Hi, I'm Bob Henstra's Grandson. i joined about a year ago so that i could see more of what he had, and learn from him as much as possible. I am sorry to report that he passed away recently. It was a beautiful funeral, took about 15 minutes, which is how he said he wanted it. Then after the funeral, we set up two chairs, one for him, and one for grandma, and played baseball for them to watch, which is also what he said he wanted us to do. He is with his wife now and is happy. He will be missed, but I've learned a lot from him, and will continue to, as i read his posts on this forum!!

I really like Bob. Sad for me, happy for him.
May he have a front row seat to all BYU football games.

I am so sad that his presence won't be felt here anymore. I know he is thrilled to be with his sweetheart again. Loved his stories of his childhood, fishing, chickens, bartering. Thank you for letting us know!

Bob was a great man, I grew to love his posts even though we disagreed on some issues. I always wanted to meet him as he had such great stories and experiences, I figured he would be fun to know. I PM'd him a few times to pick his brains and he was always generous in his answers.
I will miss his comments, but I am glad that he passed on happy and respected.
Hopefully you can take over his role here and contribute to the forums
Well done Bob on leading a full and happy life testifying to the end :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

That is sad news. I noticed he always ended his posts with an "!". I assumed it was because he was excited about life. I enjoyed reading his posts, too. Especially about chickens.
Thanks for informing the forum 30-06. It does get to be almost like a ward or a neighborhood here.

May you rest in peace Bob and teach others about the gospel on the other side! Thanks for letting us know little30-06 – he was a man of conviction and stood for righteousness here on the board, that you can be sure of. I wonder if he’s had his ‘doh!’ moment yet up there though for supporting Mitt Romney politically? ;)

Haha, I doubt that.

I butted heads with Bob a few times but I always liked the man. Loved his stories. I hope he is reunited with his bride. Rest in peace.

He'll be missed.
I would tell a joke about vaccines or Ron Paul but I don't want to say anything that some would consider inappropriate or offensive in light of his passing.

I'll miss him too. I disagreed w/ him politically, but he opened my eyes to many aspects of the Gospel I hadn't pondered. I'm sure he's in good company now though (i.e. way better than hanging w/ me!)

Sorry to hear of your loss, but from many of his posts I think he's a happy man now!

Yep I really liked Bob although we disagreed on a lot. I really respected his opinions. He had really tackled the tough questions, and I respected that. I am sure he has learned more since his passing than any of us know here. I expect to have some good laughs with him on the other side.
RIP Bobby

Ah, we used to talk Isaiah back in the good old pre-Voldemort days when the biggest controversy on here was 9/11

Great guy!
Bob is the reason I found this forum.
Back in 2010 I was searching online about alternate heat sources and one of his posts came up.
Here is the thread that first introduced me to the forum.

I also enjoyed this thread very much...

I am sad to hear of Bob's passing. Thank you for letting us know.
But now he is with his beloved whom he loved and missed dearly.
I too enjoy the "bartering" post from many years ago - which I still go back and re-read every so often.

Tears came to my eyes as I read about his passing. I loved him, though I never met him. He made me laugh. I loved his avatar and all his jokes and euphemisms. I was impressed with his wisdom and compassion and his love for his beautiful eternal companion. His death is God's gain and our loss. Boy, will I miss reading his posts. The advice about bartering and chickens and the olden days was priceless. Farewell, old friend. Here come the tears again!

Oh my goodness! I am so sad...but I know how much he loved his Jo and longed to be with her. That race is over and he won! He and I shed many private messages together and I admired him so much. God bless you all!

I have tears also. I recently asked him who we were voting for in upcoming election, he said " Hezekiah," and then told me he probably wouldn't be around for this election. It's not going to be the same around here without him.

Thank you so much for letting us know! I know he'll be living out all those fantasies he posted about having with his beloved "Jo". He will certainly be missed on the forum!

Reading Bob's posts about the depression is what brought me here. So sorry to hear about your loss. And Bob you know what we are all worried about so let us know if you get a chance.
