God bless Bob and your family. Although I never met him in person, as well as many others here, I love Bob. He talked about your grandmother so much on the forum. You could tell how much he missed her and how he couldn't wait to be with her again. Read his many stories he told about past times. They are enjoyable stories filled with wisdom. I am sad that he is gone but glad that he can rest for now. Peace be with you.

I am sorry to report that he passed away recently. It was a beautiful funeral, took about 15 minutes, which is how he said he wanted it. Then after the funeral, we set up two chairs, one for him, and one for grandma, and played baseball for them to watch, which is also what he said he wanted us to do. He is with his wife now and is happy. He will be missed, but I've learned a lot from him, and will continue to, as i read his posts on this forum!!
Thank you so much for telling us. I always liked him.
I would not be at all surprised if they were watching you play baseball.

This is so true. He really could hardly wait to be reunited with Jo.

I would tell a joke about vaccines or Ron Paul but I don't want to say anything that some would consider inappropriate or offensive in light of his passing.
I'll do it.
Damn you, Bob. We warned you about those vaccines!
The humor thread will never be the same.
Thank you for the good times, Bob. You will be missed.

In our family, we joke all the time when someone has died. It helps us deal with the stress. One-liners galore - about the deceased, about the situation.

I don't know that I would feel comfortable joking about most people who died, but this is Bob we are talking about, the guy who had a baseball game at his funeral. I'm sure he would like us to be cheerful, even as we mourn his loss.

That's what took place right before he started talking politics with Jesus.

Bob seemed to have a good heart and strong convictions.
My heart goes out to those most close to him who are grieving. And imagine those who have been waiting to reunite with him on the other side, are happy, as he is.
And I imagine Bob sees everything very differently now!
As he wrote in his 1st post on this forum...

I don't imagine he sees much difference in what he believed!
We are the same person in the Spirit World as we are here. Our intelligence in the Spirit world is limited to our repentance. Unrepentant souls, their minds in anguish will not learn much there until they repent. Repent souls will be able to learn and understand much more then what was learned in mortality.
The Spirit world experience is a continuation of this life, another phase of this life. If we understand the Spirit world experience as we would a hospital "recovery room" we'll have a better understanding of what takes place there with those who didn't repent in mortality, but eventually will. Those who did repent in mortality, or later on in the Spirit world, we would consider as "hospital staff!"
When we are resurrected we will again be known as who we were in the pre-existence, with who we were in mortality and the Spirit World under our belts,-- sashes! We will not remember who we were in the pre-existence until then.
I've used this analogy before, 40 years ago I was Airman Robert J. Henstra Jr, Munitions Technician, United States Air Force. I'm no longer that person, but "he" is under my belt!
And I remember him quite well.
(Doctrine and Covenants 138:57-60.)
57 I beheld that the faithful elders of this dispensation, when they depart from mortal life, continue their labors in the preaching of the gospel of repentance and redemption, through the sacrifice of the Only Begotten Son of God, among those who are in darkness and under the bondage of sin in the great world of the spirits of the dead.
58 The dead who repent (as they repent) will be redeemed, through obedience to the ordinances of the house of God,
59 And after they have paid the penalty of their transgressions, and are washed clean, shall receive a reward according to their works, ( works include the act of repentance) for they are heirs of salvation.
60 Thus was the vision of the redemption of the dead revealed to me, and I bear record, and I know that this record is true, through the blessing of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, even so. Amen.
I suggest a complete reading of Sec 138.

I'm sorry for your loss. Bob was a good man. He liked to give us Libertarians a hard time which used to aggravate me to no end. I private messaged him a few months back to make amends with him. He was so gracious to me even though I hadn't been very kind to him in the past. Through those messages we talked about guns and fly fishing. Something we both have in common.
He was a good man and I can honestly say he will be missed.
Thanks for letting us know about his passing. I know he is now where he was looking forward to being. With the love of his life.

Bob H. gone??! He was a mainstay here, for me. Doesn't seem possible. Was there a published obit anywhere? Seems like too many good guys are crossing the broad high-way of late.

If Bob is checking up on LDSFF even after passing to the other side, then this LDSFF addiction I have is gonna be a lot harder to break than I thought.

:)) It was probably his son. If it was Bob, he'd be coming out to set us straight or to laugh at us.

He is deceased because he was told that he had to cease and desist for a while and move on. Now he can please and assist.
