First, ground-swelling, then inactive geysers becoming active, then road asphalt turning to mush and now this... sounds like magma is rising.GARDINER, Mont. (AP) — If you think Yellowstone National Park's Boiling River feels hotter this winter, you're right.
The temperature of the thermally heated water that flows into the Gardner River at a popular swimming hole has been increasing slightly since August of last year, park spokeswoman Amy Bartlett said.
In August, the temperature was approximately 134 degrees Fahrenheit. Over the past seven days, the temperature has ranged from about 136.5 to 139.5 degrees.

Re: Yellowstone River running warmer
It's due to lack of cold water entering the stream. Boiling River is a tributary of the Gardner River, NOT the Yellowstone River.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if the thermals are charging up for a supermassive geyser blast.

I've have wondered if yellow stone eruption might be the natural disaster that brings us into the chaos and cleansing that's been fortold.Col. Flagg wrote:http://www.ksl.com/?nid=1288&sid=33648082

Re: Yellowstone River running warmer

So this should be interesting to show, but because of the continental drift, the actual hotspot is on the move over many millions of years based on previous caldera locations.
I blame the movie 2012 for this one. Yellowstone erupting is not at all likely to happen. =)) =)) =))
However, that doesn't mean the hotspot couldn't erupt somewhere else.
EDIT: The numbers in the yellow circles are the millions of years estimated between eruptings. The yellow circles are the caldera's themselves which are areas where after an eruption collapse into the earth after the release of magma.
