How god become God!
How do you introduce another way of seeing and understanding the concept of “god” / “God?” The only way is with another “idea.” My reasoning tells me that my “spirit” (Abraham 3:18) has always exited as a “spirit being” of light, truth and intelligence; and that I am innately endowed with all the attributes of godliness necessary to evolve and become a “God.” And in opposition to that, I am also innately endowed with all the attributes of a carnal or ungodly nature (the choice has always been an option).
Howbeit that he made the greater star; as, also, if there be two spirits, and one shall be more intelligent than the other, yet these two spirits, notwithstanding one is more intelligent than the other, have no beginning; they existed before, they shall have no end, they shall exist after, for they are gnolaum, or eternal.
19 And the Lord said unto me: These two facts do exist, that there are two spirits, one being more intelligent than the other; there shall be another more intelligent than they; I am the Lord thy God, I am more intelligent than they all.
(Pearl of Great Price | Abraham 3:18 - 19)
Was “God” therefore “God” from the beginning? No! Impossible! According to the Prophet Joseph Smith (see Conference talk April 7, 1844, The Words of Joseph Smith, pgs. 340-362) or any of the latter day Prophets and teachings of Christ (St. John 10: 32-38) we all have the “god” potential to evolve, hence: “As God is, man may become; and as man is now, God once was”… “What manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am” (3 Nephi 27: 27). Hence, the person we call “God” evolved to become a “God.” But before he/or she could evolve to become a “God,” he/or she would have to have a “spirit body.” H’m? … Who created that? No one did, no one could! That is like saying who created “matter?” No one did, it has always existed… same for our spirits and the spirits of all creatures great and small! (Abraham 3:18).
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
(New Testament | John 10:33 - 39)
The simple unadulterated truth is we have all existed as “spirit beings” of light, truth and intelligence; (D&C 93: 29) and elements (D&C 93: 33) of “matter” have always been around as well! This is sound logic, it is sound reasoning! It is the “ego” or fallen nature of man that thinks “God” has always existed as “God,” or that “God” created “matter” out of nothing. These concepts or ideas make the “individual,” or “matter,” or the “form” or “image,” the object of worship, which are idolatrous notions.
Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be.
(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 93:29)
For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy;
34 And when separated, man cannot receive a fulness of joy.
35 The elements are the tabernacle of God; yea, man is the tabernacle of God, even temples; and whatsoever temple is defiled, God shall destroy that temple.
(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 93:33 - 35)
So, if “God” wasn’t “God” from the beginning, the whole concept of a “God” and the opposite of “God” (Satan, or the Devil) has to be related to or developed in some other way, and the only way either could be “created” (organized or come about) is through the “attributes” or “qualities of character” innate to their “spirit beings.” “God” or “Satan” couldn’t have been orchestrated by some “power” or “influence” outside of themselves, or that would be the “God of Creation.” Both “God” and the “Devil” had to evolve from innate abilities and qualities they each possessed! Hence the whole concept of “God” is truly a manifestation of certain attributes of character and so it is for “Satan.” This is logical and sound reasoning; it feels right in my opinion. Hence “God” has not been “God” from the beginning, but was a “spirit being” who sought to manifest those divine attributes innate to his or her character until he or she was perfect in the quest of becoming a “god/God” having power from their nature of godliness (which is there righteousness), thereby they literally gained power (faith) to communicate with the elements of matter to create (organize) worlds and the universe as we see it today.
This makes perfect sense, thus, “Spirit Beings” (in the beginning) in our 1st estate spiritually evolved and became a perfect manifestation of godliness; thus becoming “Gods” spiritually before they were ever mortal/physical, resurrected “Gods” as we know them today. Hence the whole idea or concept of “God” is a process of manifesting in thought, word and deed that which is godly, divine and holy!
To be more exact, so we understand the process of “becoming:” it is perfecting in us the attributes of unconditional love, virtue, mercy (which is repentance and forgiveness) justice, patience, kindness, honesty, etc. For a more detailed account of the attributes, character and perfections of godliness… see, read and ponder the “Lectures on Faith,” found in the Doctrine and Covenants of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints printed between 1835-1921. For 86 years the first 5 Prophets of the LDS Church were nurtured and instructed in these profound “Lectures on Faith” and it was called the “Doctrine” of the Church in those days. Today, these “Lectures on Faith” are no longer found in our scriptures… they have been cast out with an “Explanatory Introduction” in our current Doctrine and Covenants, stating they are: “profitable for doctrine and instruction.” It is noteworthy to mention that the original “Lectures on Faith” were voted upon and accepted by all the quorums of the priesthood by common consent and that is why they were placed in the early Doctrine and Covenants and signed by the Prophet Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, Sidney Rigdon and Frederick G. Williams in 1835 edition.
Our quest, responsibility and accountability is to first understand “Lectures on Faith” and then manifest “again,” in our 2nd estate the sacred knowledge of the character, attributes and perfections of “God” as we did in our 1st estate as “Spirit Beings.” It is up to each of us, to become like “God” in the full sense of the word via a character of godliness! To then seek and receive the “mind of God” or the “mind of Christ” is something we can’t do alone or experience for ourselves. That is because only “God, the Father” or Christ can share this holy experience with us in a “face to face” encounter that we must seek out in order to obtain! This is the “plan” or “pattern” for “becoming” a “God!” We each have this potential!
We first had this spiritual experience in our 1st estate, which prepared us to come to an earth and receive a mortal body. And now, we need to experience it “again,” in our 2nd estate, so that the flesh might become sanctified and justified within us, preparatory to a “face to face,” “mind to mind” with God.
The “plan of happiness,” was never accepted by Satan and his followers. Because of their choice, they never achieved the “power” that came from their potential nature of godliness; therefore, they could not participate in the pro-creative process that mortality would provide, it was impossible, thus he and his followers have sought to possess the bodies of Adam and Eve’s posterity in an ungodly way.
In our 1st estate, those “first” “Spirit Beings” who “became” a manifestation of perfect godliness were admired by all and as we organized into families, we called them “Gods” because they evolved from their potential “god” to “God.” These became our Father and Mother Gods which we sought to pattern our lives after… thus we called ourselves the “children of God,” “His sons and His daughters.” The spiritual pattern of this was introduced in the Garden of Eden, where Cherubims guarding the tree of life symbolized teachers and instructors who taught about the state of “holiness of character” one must be in, in order to enter back into “Gods” presence.
Those who choose to follow Satan’s plan became the “sons of perdition,” who were eventually cast out because they choose not to follow their divine potential and become “beings” of “Holiness.” They were caught up in the “ego” of self-denial and pride.
Hence here in mortality the same “plan of happiness;” to become a “God” by manifesting the attributes, character and perfections of godliness is innate to us all, and the “promises of God” are co-equal and co-eternal to all peoples regardless of race or religion. Hence, all religion’s ceremonies, ordinances, priesthoods and commandments from God is symbolic and metaphorical of our becoming godly in our thinking and beliefs as we strive to manifest a nature of holiness; which can only be achieved by leaving judgments alone (Matthew 7: 1-5) along with self-denial and pride. Therefore, God is “no respecter of persons” (Acts 10: 34-35*) and to have “faith in God” is to have “faith in” the innate process of becoming like Him in attribute, character and the perfecting of those qualities until we are in His image and likeness and have embraced a “fullness” of the “mind of God” in a face to face experience! To know Gods thoughts and beliefs is a mystery only God can share with us individually. Those who experience it become members of the spiritual “Church of the Firstborn” and become the “only begotten of the Father” spiritually speaking, who is full of grace and truth! And become the “first fruits” (D&C 88: 98) of the resurrection.
JUDGE not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
(New Testament | Matthew 7:1 - 5)
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
(New Testament | Acts 10:34 - 35)
This is my opinion and belief of how god became God. The "plan of happiness" is very simple to me... it all about "becoming!" "Fulfilling" our greatest potential!

Or maybe... the god that made the God here... God, came from outside the universe, in a larger universe, and every God, like God, has a universe to govern and shape...

Understanding and thinking is what seperates us. I belive our evolution happens in our heart and mind more then the need for a body. The body just helps with the understanding. As it adds feeling. Adds a dimension. 2d to 3d. Where God is 4dx

Welcome to the "Forum!" Interesting thought... kind of "star trekie" like a "parallel universe" in Star Trek.Sirocco wrote:Or maybe... the god that made the God here... God, came from outside the universe, in a larger universe, and every God, like God, has a universe to govern and shape...

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

I agree... the "evolution" of becoming gods/Gods is more in the mind and heart... however "both bodies" (spirit and mortal) need the process of "becoming" to evolve. Both "bodies" need sanctification and justification to become "one."

That's largely where I got the idea... I put it into a story, but it is much more indepth (eg, God, is... well a formless, shapeless thing that no being can comprehend, even the most evolved creatures in the universe. There are three Gods with form, encompassing life and creation, death and destruction and balance and preservation, they are this shapeless one, as much as the universe is...they are one as well in a sense, but separate and with their own will, of sorts...)SkyBird wrote:Welcome to the "Forum!" The only time in this book we see God as we know it, it's a she, and takes the form of one of the aliens... though they don't really claim to have gender, nothing has a true gender when they're that highly evolved in this book... beyond the mortal constrains... I donno, it's long and hard to really explain without diagrams and stuff. :))

If we are going to be "Gods" one day, our "beliefs" will have to become "one"... as in harmonize, (no wild cosmic ideas). Like Einstein said:Sirocco wrote:That's largely where I got the idea... "I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are details" I want to know how God became God, the rest are details! What came first "God" or "religion." I am quite certain it was "God."
