I Have a Problem...

Post by ajax »

...with reading multiple books at the same time. My wife makes fun of me for it. I am currently reading 9 books.

Anybody else have this issue?

I usually read 2 or 3 at a time. Not sure how I got up to 9.

I'm usually pretty disciplined about reading one book at a time. In the last couple of years I have found myself in up to 4 or 5 at once. I hate it.

What kind of books are you reading? Are they fiction, history, sciences, music...?

Do you begin another one to answer questions you formulated from one or more of the others you already are in?

When I pick up a book I read it strait through. Can't hardly put it down. My mind hyper focuses on one thing. I have a problem watching tv and keeping a conversation. I have to turn the tv off. Which I have almost completly in my life. As I made the choice that I didn't want to spend any more of my time and focus on something so asinine and waist full as tv.
Man my life has gotten better since then and more and more as I drop out more and more things of the world out of my life. I keep my iPhone just for this forum. It's amasing how much you can learn from others who are here to learn and share.

What kind of books are you reading? Are they fiction, history, sciences, music...? It's a bit of a mix, from the history of the Vatican and the Civil War, to CS Lewis, to a fictional account of Judas Iscariot, to Adam Smith's ideas on moral philosophy.

Do you begin another one to answer questions you formulated from one or more of the others you already are in? It's typically random, if something strikes my fancy at the time, whether reading a book or watching a movie, I may end up looking for something to read about it. For example, my wife and I re-visited the Godfather movies, and in the third installment, there was much in regards to the Catholic Church's involvement with the mafia...which led me to do a little digging around for some reads on the topic.

I can't go there. They will probably shuffle me of to a heretics/apostate recovery program presided over by the SP in regards to the other half of the books I'm reading.

Sometimes they run together in my head and I can't focus, worse with audio books because on my old mp3 sometimes they didn't go in order so you'd be listening to Nephi's struggles to get the plates from Laban and then bam Cthulhu is all there and all the rage 8-|

Originally, I said, "yes," but after reading this thread, I will have to say, "no." I do it, but I have absolutely no problems with it. I enjoy the diversity. :-B

Man, you got to get out more. And not at the library. I'll come rescue you and we can hang out. Tell your wife you will be cured in no time.

You don't read them all at once. 8-|
You read some faster and some slower. :ymparty:
It may take a year or more to finish some - or not.
