At first a scoffer...

It's been a few months since I came across these forums. I have been reading regularly for that long after reading and researching more on Signs of the Times. A local friend of ours recently confided in us about wanting to be rebaptized... and at first I really shook my head and worried for this person... then I realized after more discussions that this individual was coming from a very good and very spiritually driven place. A lot of personal revelation on their part. I have been realizing more and more that I am seriously lacking in my efforts to draw closer to the Lord and to gain my own personal revelation regularly. I am trying to change that through study and prayer. I am so grateful for how this friend came to us and shared personal insights because it really allowed me to open up and see where I am lacking. I have a long way to go but I'm grateful to find a community of people share. I am hoping to follow along more on these forums for more inspiration.

Enjoy your time with us as we all seek and learn.

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully it's a place that you can find people of like mind. I believe all of us are searching and desiring to be closer to the Lord. Everyone is on their own path and must reach him their own efforts in the end, but maybe there is a grand reason why we need each other, to support and love one another.
I wish you best in your journey.

Oh, I get it. At first I was a bit confused. Your friend is not currently a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Yes, of course he should be re-baptized then.
Tell him / her congratulations from me.

This person is in good standing with the church and has found in church history and also scriptural accounts occasions where people were rebaptized (in my reading it was always due to the church not being fully organized) but at any rate after many strong spiritual experiences and dreams that was the path this person decided was best for them to show a renewed commitment.

This person was in good standing with the church, that is exactly my reaction though, and I was very confused at first. See my reply above for a little more info.
