It is only obvious, sensible and responsible to not put food in rubbish containers ... the animal population need food, it is selfish not to make unwanted food available to them.

They should give the left over food to the homeless problem solved

Better yet give the homeless a job picking food out of the trash. Double problem solved

The sad reality of this happening though is if someone gets sick from the food (even if it was free or the illness was not from what was ingested) is that they will sue.

Also, there are numerous cities where citizens have been arrested or lawsuits brought against them because they were feeding the homeless:

I have a few freinds in boise idaho who feed their rabbits and chickens with food left in commercial dumpsters. It's illegal to dumpster dive as some call it. But they don't like to see the waist either. So they do it anyways. They feed their rabbits And then eat the rabbits and have all the fresh eggs they want. They have also gotten others to do the same.

Want rats in your yard? A good way to get them is to make a pile of your food waste in the yard.
