I got my 2014 Australian Tax Receipt. These are documents you get every year that show how much you pay in taxes and an itemized list of how much of that money went to each budget area. In Australia only the federal government is empowered to collect taxes so it makes this simple.In my case out of the 9,226 dollars that I paid $3,393 went to welfare with the largest chunk of that to aged care (sort of like your social security) the next two areas were health (national health plane that everyone, even the very poor must contribute to.) and then defines and education (tied)

This is an interesting thing the tax office does and I have never heard of it in the US or other countries.

I would imagin that the citezen in the us would not enjoy what their money went to. It would blow the cover off what is really going on. We don't really have a say in where it goes anyways.

Damn. I wish my taxes were that low.

Unfortunately, Americans have to pay to be the World Police. I'm against socialism, but if I got to pay anyway, I'd rather get health care out of it. Instead, all we get is jingoistic war stories on Fox News.
