I have to settle for sarcastic brilliance - it is the only sphere I am capable of brilliant-ing in. I recently spent 2 days staring at a 3D art thing and that convinced me I am not brilliant.Steve Clark wrote:11. Sarcastic

Re: Who's a genius and why?
ok ok - laugh it up - get all of the jokes out you can...
After all, we have to feed it - addiction to this forum cannot be drudgery otherwise we wouldn't remain addicted, would we? ;)
Now, can someone please seriously attempt to answer the OP... Please with chocolate, ice cream and a cherry on top??
Even if you just pick one or two types of intelligence... or people you respect in some way or another.

Not only no, but HELL no. Compared to Tesla, Edison couldn't think his way around a pile of dog crap. Edison did have well above average intelligence, but it didn't likely exceed the genius level. What he DID have was motivation, desire to prosper and be known.Thinker wrote: 4. logical–mathematical,

I think the types that add compassion, increase peace, and help those in physical and spiritual poverty would be the most needed in the U.S.Thinker wrote:There are considered about 10 types of intelligence.

Re: Name a genius with each intelligence type.
Tesla is the father of our modern AC electrical systems. He also had a hand in pioneering radio technology. He even dabbled in free energy technology, but that secret went to his grave(google tesla pierce-arrow, wardencliffe tower).Thinker wrote:I hadn't heard of Tesla, so thanks, Skmo.
Most people know of Edison as the man who invented the light bulb, in fact, he didn't. He was racing with a whole lot of other contemporaries to come up with the first successful prototype, and some have accused him of plagiarism.
He was competing with Tesla for long distance electrical energy transport, his DC system vs Tesla's AC system. Guess who won?
Honestly, the only thing Edison could really call his own, is the phonograph.

Not only that, but Edison was very bull headed and also would do just about anything to get his way - i.e. dirty PR.ocarinahuff wrote:Tesla is the father of our modern AC electrical systems. He had electric chairs implemented for death row inmates for the purpose of SCARING people to demonstrate how dangerous AC was.
He was definitely nowhere near Tesla in genius. Tesla had ideas that could have revolutionized the world, but he was also a bit mental (probably due to the fact that whenever he would invent something - often which he was willing to give to mankind for FREE - then he would destroy his notes when time after time the government weaponized it in some way.) He had a method that could transmit electricity WITHOUT WIRES and could have been done globally... but the powers that be didn't like it because it was free energy transmission that would not pad their wallets.
Anyway, yep amazing man. Einstein might have been more genius on the theoretical stuff, but for applied physics, I don;t think anyone touched Tesla - ever.

Re: Name a genius with each intelligence type.
1. musical–rhythmic - Alive I will say Sting and Danny Elfman. Decomposing (pun intended) of course the greats - Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Wagner
2. visual–spatial - not sure what type of genius this would be. Like architecture?
3. verbal–linguistic, - Shakespeare I suppose
4. logical–mathematical, - Einstein, Tesla, Hawking (although I think there is much that he fundamentally is wrong about)
5. bodily–kinesthetic, again not sure exactly what you are looking for here - a health guru?
6. interpersonal (social) Clinton and Reagan (one an evil genius in this category, but probably more gifted than Reagan) also Jesus Christ
7. intrapersonal (self awareness) Jesus Christ, C.S. Lewis
8. naturalistic (again, dumb me, don't follow you)
9. existential (philosophical) Jesus Christ, C.S. Lewis, Frederic Bastiat
10. moral same as philosophical imo

I agree - especially with compassion - which starts with more self love/character building/emotional intelligence - and then extends out to others more effectively.A Random Phrase wrote:I think the types that add compassion, increase peace, and help those in physical and spiritual poverty would be the most needed in the U.S.
As a relatively rich country - we owe it to help others in need as much as we can, IMO.

Re: Name a genius with each intelligence type.
Yeah, I guess history is his-story. Before this thread, the word "Tesla" conjured up images of an 80's rock band. Who knows, maybe that band named themselves after Tesla.ocarinahuff wrote:Tesla is the father of our modern AC electrical systems. He also had a hand in pioneering radio technology. Re: Name a genius with each intelligence type.
Fiannan, OriginalIntent, Lanse, Skmo and RandomPhrase,
Thanks for the ideas of geniuses - I'm writing them down to look up later.
I figure, if you want to get better at something - then study the masters.
And I believe that love is most effective when multiple intelligences are combined to some degree.
Fiannan,
Are you talking about Isaiah (from scriptures)?
Maybe The LDS Skinny-Dipper Connection is covered by ancient scripture if nothing else. :p
