No!
Always free!"
Good this band is still going on as strong as they are. Sharon Den Adel is a real treasure.
I like Within Temptation even more when they are live. The symphony, band, and acoustics get the real justice they deserve. Everything is better with live versions. I think that is the case for most Symphonic Metal bands in general but when it comes to Within Temptation there is a night and day difference between studio and live recordings.

The 3 was my introduction. What I grew up with. I was definitely a fan. I was a fan of Peter Gabriel also. Did not know about 70's Genesis till high school.
Heard The Musical Box for the first time and I was out of my mind! Could not believe it was the same band and could not believe how incredible it was. Picked up all the classic lineup albums because of it and became a die-hard fan

Estranged
Guns N Roses

When you're talkin' to yourself
And nobody's home
You can fool yourself
You came in this world alone
(Alone)
So nobody ever told you baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to you baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see
One, two
Old at heart but I'm only twenty eight
And I'm much too young
To let love break my heart
Young at heart but it's getting much too late
To find ourselves so far apart
I don't know how you're s'posed to find me lately
An what more could you ask from me
How could you say that I never needed you
When you took everything
Said you took everything from me
Young at heart an it gets so hard to wait
When no one I know can seem to help me now
Old at heart but I musn't hesitate
If I'm to find my own way out
Still talkin' to myself
And nobody's home
(Alone)

So nobody ever told us baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to us baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see
When I find out all the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time
An now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
And you don't talk so loud
An you don't walk so proud
Any more, and what for
Well I jumped into the river
Too many times to make it home
I'm out here on my own, an drifting all alone
If it doesn't show give it time
To read between the lines
'Cause I see the storm getting closer
And the waves they get so high
Seems everything we've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die

I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it through, this time - oh this time
Without you
I knew the storm was getting closer
And all my friends said I was high
But everything we've ever known's here
I never wanted it to die

I heard let 'em in by Paul McCartney over the speaker at a store over the past week. Even though I had heard this song dozens of times before and never paid attention, I listened to the lyrics this time and realized that this could actually be a great spiritual song. In the song, he references several people including Martin Luther. You could assume that he is referring to Martin Luther King Jr. or John Lennon, but according to Paul himself, the song is about people who in his life were known for something involving knocking on doors including Martin Luther who famously nailed his list of grievances on a Catholic church door which helped lead to the restoration of the gospel.
The lyric namechecks several famous people, between friends and relatives of McCartney who, without a justified reason, knock on the door or ring the bell of his house and he exclaims "Let 'Em In". These include McCartney's paternal aunt Gin, his brother Michael, and Linda McCartney's brother John. Phil and Don of the Everly Brothers are named (the duo had a hit with "Keep A Knockin'"), along with Martin Luther,[5] who famously hung his "95 Theses" on a church door. An uncle Ernie is also named; this being the character Ringo Starr sang in the London Symphony Orchestra's recording of the Who's rock opera, Tommy.[6]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_%27Em_In

If you extend this logic, Missionaries who spread the gospel are also famous for knocking on doors. You can choose to let them in or not. The spirit itself will not violate your free agency and barge into your mind, you have to let it in.

With that being said, I think this is a very spiritual song even before you change up the lyrics a little.

earlier this year, by chance I heard an interview on NPR with Peter and Paul ( apparently May has passed on). the topic of Puff was discussed. Peter and Paul categorically stated they did not write the song about drug use. iifc, it was a bedtime song for one of their kids. they were emphatic in debunking the drug angle so often tired to Puff.

altho they have no redeeming characteristics, I also like the who, pink Floyd and the stones (that said, one of the nice things about growing up is the diminished need to frenetically consume popular music).
It was about aircraft gunships in Vietnam.

haha yeah i also liked it very much as a child. we had a colourful picture book and it even came w/ a cd with a rendition of the song we'd often play in the car on long trips &c.

now that i'm grown up and've learnt the esoteric meaning behind the song i like it even more

I admit, I really like Dream-pop and Synth-pop. It sounds kind of otherworldly to me. Grimes is good for otherworldly language, airy tunes, just in my private opinion it sounds like something dreamy in a heavenly dimension.

I also enjoy the music of Cliff Martinez who does the soundtracks for most of Nic Refn's movies. I actually think Refn exposes things about the dark underbelly of the world in his films. He gets called out on being pretentious, etc. but the Neon Demon was released right prior to the Weinstein scandal and other creepy conspiracies that have emerged. I can say similar things for other films of his. I think he knows what's up, to some extent.

You know I'm haunted on overseas
Haunted on each coast
Play them like Ebaneeza
I made them see the ghost
Back from the future donned in Japanese kimonos
Even though the streets show love, try to see me grow
I often see me floatin', but my shadow it weighs a ton
Call it baggage, I use it all to advantage
I can't make you love me
This time it's on you
And you can't try to deny, these words when they're true
