I'm a big fan of Tarja. The opera vocals really make Nightwish unique. I like all eras but Tarja is really special. It was more Proggy back then too but I feel they have been going much more back to that style with Jansen.anonymous91 wrote: ↑September 7th, 2021, 12:29 pmOne of my favorite songs and I love both versions both Floor Jansen and Tarja Turunen. Here's the version by Tarja. Both are just amazing and beautiful songs.
For anyone wondering this style of music is commonly referred to as Symphonic Metal. It mixes metal and orchestral instruments together, and typically the lead singer has training in operatic singing. So, if you like Classical Music (or metal) give it a try.
Ghost Love Score is definitely a favorite of mine.

Re: Good Gentile Music
My cousin introduced me to Queenryche back when I was in high school. I didn't care for hair metal or grunge but happened to like metal and progressive rock bands. So Operation Mindcrime was the perfect combo. Later it was Dream Theater and my life changed forever. I do like 80's Queenryche but I do prefer Fates Warning because they are still to this day a fantastic band.

Doesn't get much better than Hackett era Genesis. Blood on the Rooftops is one of the most outstanding moments by far. Genesis survived without Peter Gabriel but after Steve Hackett left it was devastating.

I like the trio era (so much so I'm seeing them later this month live) but the two albums they had with the 4 of them were very beautiful and to me their best-music wise.
