Re: Good Gentile Music
One of my favorite movies too. This was one of the best movies Mel Gibson ever made.nightlight wrote: βJanuary 12th, 2023, 8:55 pm Someone asked me the other day what my favorite movie of all time was..... It took me a long time to think about it, but it has to be this movie
It had everything a great movie should have, then over-delivered on expectations.
One of my acid tests for a good movie is when I see the trailer and I'm excited to see the movie. After watching the movie it was 10X better than the trailer, that's a good movie. Too often though, the movie trailer is the best part of the whole movie, and you can save time & money just by watching the trailer instead.
This entire movie really pulls on your emotions and takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride. Everything from laughing, crying, feeling rage, disappointment, & empathy. Although historically this may not have been exactly what happened, this is an excellent example of how to adapt a historical event into a movie that moves the audience. Very few movies are able to adapt what is written (be it historical or non-fiction) and put it into a movie that people like. This is one of the few movies that do this extremely well. I would also say Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was also able to pull this off. Although I wish he would have included a scene about Tom Bombadil, I understand he had to make sacrifices since he was already pushing the envelope with the length of the movies already. Though he did prove that audiences will sit through a long movie that they enjoy.
The pacing was great throughout the whole movie. It had action, suspense, humor, violence, romance & even betrayal. This was all woven in expertly and appropriately. The movie had you immersed the entire time, and rooting for William Wallace & Scotland. The villains were complex and realistic, the drama was believable and didn't jolt you out of the story. It would be nice if once in a while they would make movies like this again. I'm sure being part Scottish myself, I am also more biased for rooting for Scotland. The only recent movie I really enjoyed in the last 2-3 years was Top Gun: Maverick, just because it wasn't woke and focused on just being entertaining. This was no Braveheart, but it was entertaining, and the special effects were awesome, I just wish I would have been able to experience this with D-Box (sadly no local theaters offer this).
I can count on one hand how many times I will re-watch a movie because I want to watch it, this is at the top of my list.

Excellent Synchronicity if I do say so myself. Watch the third one if you don't get it.

Re: Good Gentile Music
Not sure how realistic Braveheart is. How can you have the Battle of Stirling Bridge with no bridge? Wallace was Scottish, fought against the English and was executed for his troubles. They got those three things right I suppose.anonymous91 wrote: βJanuary 13th, 2023, 3:37 pm The pacing was great throughout the whole movie. Been a while since I heard this song too. Great song and it reminded me of another amazing song. For some odd reason, this group was not as well known as it ought to have been. Sadly this group came to an unexpected end,Cruiserdude wrote: βMarch 17th, 2023, 5:00 pm https://youtu.be/7QU1nvuxaMA
A favorite I hadn't heard in a long time
"in the midst of promoting the album on Halloween night, 1992, an improperly secured lighting truss hit frontman Miljenko Matijevic on the head, breaking his nose, cheekbone, jaw, and twisted his spine. Matijevic was rushed to a hospital and Steelheart, for all intents and purposes, ended that night."
The talent of the entire band is simply amazing! The lead singer is considered one of the best in the world with a vocal range between F2-B5 (3 Octaves + 6 Semitones) Enjoy!

Edit: I love the high voices guys with rock music/metal..... There's just something about a pure true high voice mixed with that music that just gives me goosebumps
