New to the forum, looking for a local group to meet with

My name is Ian and I'm new to the forum. I've read some posts here before but finally joined in an effort to be able to converse with more like minded people. I'm hoping to find a local group to meet with as well. I'm considering rebaptism, but would like to meet up with others first. (please don't let this post to turn into bashing one viewpoint or another as I saw in a previous introduction) I'm attempting to rid myself of all viewpoints except the one given me by the Spirit as I study the scriptures. I love the Book of Mormon, I love Isaiah and Joseph Smith, and most of all I love the Lord. I've been led by the Lord on an interesting journey over the last 6 years. I am coming closer to Him. It is a long process that started at the age of 18 and has continued 14 years until now. Sometimes I get very clear and unmistakeable manifestations from God, while other times, I'm left to myself to continue the path in faith. Although I am weak and make mistakes, I am lucky to still find myself on the path to the Savior. All I want is to do His will for me. It is His will that I constantly seek. I have recently been shown in a dream that I will receive Him once I am able to rid myself of fear. Before this experience I didn't realize I had any fear. My current task is to discover my fears in an effort to replace them with faith. If I can rid myself of all fear and have faith, then may I be worthy to dwell with the Father and the Son. (John 14:23, D&C 130:3)

My favorite scripture as of late describes how I feel (words are changed to apply it to me):

"And, finding there is greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I seek the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to administer the same; having been myself a follower of righteousness, desiring also to be one who possesses great knowledge, and to be a greater follower of righteousness, and to posses a greater knowledge, and to be a father of many nations, a prince of peace, and desiring to receive instructions, and to keep the commandments of God, I hope to become a rightful heir, a High Priest, holding the right belonging to the fathers." Abraham 1:2

I believe this right must come directly from God, and that is what I seek.
(I believe this is what the temple teaches, also JST Genesis 14:27-29)

I also believe that such seeking is what Malachi was referring to when he spoke these words to Joseph
"And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers. If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming." (JSH 1:39)

The fathers here refer to the great patriarchs who received covenants and promises directly from God. The fathers are Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We could also include, Enoch, Melchizedek, Adam, Noah etc. They are the great patriarchs, the fathers of many nations. It is the promises made to them that we must seek. Of course, seeking our own ancestry is important and good, but I do not believe that is what is referred to in these scriptures.

I seek the Lord and His priesthood. I have received and continue to seek knowledge from the Holy Ghost. I seek knowledge from His true messengers and from His lips. I know He will come to me, according to His own will, and on His own timeline. I seek to purify myself and rid myself of fear that I may have the faith necessary to receive Him.

By joining this forum I hope to meet some like minded individuals or groups with whom I can meet personally. And maybe I can even contribute a post or two if directed to do so.

Thank you all for your words of inspiration.

With love,
Ian

Welcome Ian.

I recommend asking for access to the Heavenly Gift subforum. You won't be bothered there by naysayers. If you are looking for groups to meet with, it would help to know where you live. :D
