I'm Tyler, let me explain my politics and presence here.
First of all, what a great site! I can already see that I have a lot in common with many present here.
My main purpose in coming here is to discuss my unconventional politics with other Latter-day Saints who feel unrepresented by the current national establishment.
I love to discuss religion and spirituality, but that's more of an aside than my primary motivation in coming here.
I hope to learn from as many of you as possible.
I’m a registered Republican, but I have an aggressively independent mind. I’m best described as a cross between an old-school populist and a paleoconservative. That being the case, I’m extremely frustrated with the direction of the country. I'm tired of listening to the same, unimaginative proposals trotted out every election cycle. Although I concede many modern problems have a spiritual, rather than material impetus, there are still areas where positive change can be affected.
I want creative plans aimed at achieving the following:
-Less bureaucracy and meddling in people’s lives
-A scaling back of America’s overseas commitments and the reassertion of national sovereignty
-An America First economy that defends the average citizen from the peril of cheap, foreign labor (whether through immigration or free-trade)
-Structural reform of a government notorious for directing multiple departments at disparate pieces of a larger problem
-A simplified, yet progressive tax code (I reject plans like “the Fair Tax” as too burdensome for the disadvantaged/middle class and see blanket consumption taxes as far too heavy an intervention in pricing generally)
-Updates in American infrastructure
-The rebirth of American manufacturing through the adoption of an industrial program
-Changes in education that place more focus on gifted students and recognize/channel diversity in talent
-A revamped economic policy designed to rid the nation of the burdens of excessive personal debt (a living wage economy over a credit economy)
If anything needs clarified or if you're interested in my take on an issue not addressed above, don't hesitate to ask.

TylerSethHinds, welcome to the Forum. I am very in line with your sentiments. I'm not very optimistic at this point about the gov't becoming less powerful and intrusive, though. If our "public servants" were true "servants, thing would be way different.TylerSethHinds wrote:First of all, what a great site! I can already see that I have a lot in common with many present here.

Welcome!
I'll advocate for internal monarchy so external anarchy can exist! I don't believe voting anyone into "power" or "office" will have any real positive effect on the condition this country is in. You see, I believe the origin of the mess we share originates in the minds of countless people. Until we the people educate ourselves about truth and seek to live according to it and become morally responsible again, there is no hope for good change. Let me know how any of those proposed changes go. We need to stop trying to fight against natural law and instead seek to obey it. I feel that we need to start by purging from ourselves of this delusional mental construct that has infested the minds of countless people in this country that is known as the "Federal Government." And if that were to happen, overnight "they" would hold no more influence over our minds to be able to manipulate us into being good little slaves. Until we purge from ourselves the belief that someone has the "authority" or "right" to initiate violence upon others or that we as individuals can extend rights we ourselves do not possess to a group of people, then I'd say we are out of luck. When we do that we can start to have more diversity and be dissimilar states-to-state to try our luck at freedom how this country was designed to operate.
The bottom line, Everything Voluntary!
