A newly deciphered Egyptian text, dating back almost 1,200 years, tells part of the crucifixion story of Jesus with apocryphal plot twists, some of which have never been seen before.

"A fragment of a 1200-year-old Egyptian manuscript has emerged from the private collection of J.P. Morgan (now public in the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City) that appears to add some fascinating twists to the Easter story and the life of the Christ in general: not only could Jesus alter his appearance at will, but the shapeshifting Jesus had a wife and kids as well.
Ancient Manuscript Indicates Easter Story is Wrong

Translation of an ancient Coptic manuscript tells the Easter story quite differently…

The ancient text indicates that Judas kissed Jesus not in a gesture of affection or guilt, but in order to identify him and stave off any shapeshifting confusion:
‘The Jews said to Judas: How shall we arrest him [Jesus], for he does not have a single shape but his appearance changes. Sometimes he is ruddy, sometimes he is white, sometimes he is red, sometimes he is wheat coloured, sometimes he is pallid like ascetics, sometimes he is a youth, sometimes an old man…’
The illuminated document also reveals that Jesus spent his last supper not only with his disciples, but with prefect Pontius Pilate. The text states that the prefect offered his own son to take Jesus’ place, but Jesus declined his offer and stated he could easily avoid the sentence if he wanted to. Here, the text indicates that Jesus could also become invisible, as “Pilate, then, looked at Jesus and, behold, he became incorporeal: He did not see him for a long time.”
The fragment reveals the official Easter timeline is off by a couple of days, as the text indicates Jesus was arrested on Tuesday evening and not the traditionally-held and dogmatically-followed Thursday.
Another Fragment Says Jesus Was Married

Part of another analyzed papyrus fragment includes text that reveals Jesus referred to “my wife,” while speaking to his disciples. Researchers believe the wife to be Mary Magdelene. In the document, Jesus appears to be defending her against some criticism, saying “she will be my disciple.” Two lines later he then tells the disciples: “I dwell with her.”
The translation from the original Coptic has been revealed for the first time in a new book by Roelof van den Broek, emeritus professor of the History of Christianity at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. The 1200-year-old text is written in the name of Cyril of Jerusalem, although Professor van den Broek says it was likely written by someone else.
Some Christians Remain Unimpressed
Not everyone is happy about the newly-revealed translation. One source accuses the professor emeritus of having “… a predilection for disseminating material that is patently absurd in its attempt to muddle Christianity.”
