1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Revelation 2:4-5

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

If we don't return to our first love, our candlestick gets removed.

Who is this speaking of? What does this mean? What is going on here? What is being taught?

It is important for us to identify who our first love is. Otherwise we won't know when it is that we have lost this. Or when it is that we are committing adultery against this. Or be able to identify when we are worshiping an idol, instead of our first love.

What is it we need to repent of? We need to repent of having forgotten our first love. If we don't repent...don't remember...don't know who our first love is, then we can't be saved (this is the ignorance within which we cannot be saved). So....who IS our first love?

What is everything in scripture, in the words of the prophets, in ordinances, in laws and commandments, in the appearance of the word made flesh to show us,...all these tools; what/who are they pointing us to? Who is our first love? When we hear such things as "thou shalt have no other gods before you"...this is pointing us to our first love. Who IS our love??!!!
