The Social Security Administration has begun warning the public it cannot guarantee full benefit payments if the debt ceiling isn’t increased.

When asked by the public, the agency is notifying beneficiaries that “Unlike a federal shutdown which has no impact on the payment of Social Security benefits, failure to raise the debt ceiling puts Social Security benefits at risk,” according to a person familiar with the agency directive.

The warning was assembled after the agency consulted with the Treasury Department, which would play a lead role in determining how the government handles payments if the borrowing limit isn’t raised soon.

“Our employees started receiving questions from the public, so the agency worked with Treasury to provide an answer they could use when asked about the debt ceiling by the public,” a Social Security Administration spokesman said.

Also the Bk of Mormon prophecy that riches, even hidden in the earth or elsewhere, will become "slippery" -- unless "hidden up unto the Lord" (although I can't quote the verse on that one). I talked about this principle at Fast &T Mtg in our small branch ten days ago. Long story short, exercise equipment outside our house was taken at 4:40am in the morning, woke me up And after prayer and dedication, I was able to drive almost directly to the truck that had this exercise machine sitting in it! It was returned, with apology (they "thought" it was junk..)

The Treasury department determines what bills to pay with the revenue being generated daily (Obama administration). Social Security is a specific tax that is collected and is supposed to be used to fund the “Universal” pension plan (Congress exempted themselves and have their own like the retired railroad workers) for everyone, but the government since social security’s inception has “borrowed” against the funds to pay for the other social/welfare and give away programs created to “support” the
“deserving” people; they never thought of having to someday pay the debt back. Obama and his henchmen (political advisors) are completely ignorant of fiscal policy and fiscal discipline/responsibility; they believe in the redistribution of wealth from the providers (working people) to the takers (welfare, food stamps, unemployed, etc.), they use the funding to keep their “voters” beholden to the government. They keep writing ever increasing government checks because they will not be around to pay the bill. Congress is dysfunctional because they are in it for themselves and what they can get out of government and to maintain their power. It’s time the people of this great land take the country back; vote them all out of office and make a condition for candidates that they renounce their government retirement package and benefits and pay their own bills, staring with the “Taker in Chief”, Obama.

I wonder if people even believe them anymore when they threaten to cut SS. They will someday, though.

I would urge those of you who can to try to convince your parents to get off SS and depend on you instead. If enough people did that, that alone would strike fear into the hearts of the power mongers. Obviously, they love the power they have over SS.
