Re: Disease outbreaks, start of possible pandemics
I see we disagree. No problem I have no energy to play food missionary tonight. I believe in eating natural foods in their most natural state and don't trust many of the "studies" out there that serve to pad the pockets of the rich. But to each his own ! I do however agree with you on plenty of other things. ;)

There is a lot of human to animal disease transfer and more human - animal interactions e.g. due to vast amounts of antibiotics people take - germs and virus have mutated and are no longer the same as in days gone by. Cows are manged in small areas and very cramped conditions. It would be nice to be in the old days cows wandering around on large paddock and given plenty of space - put would not produce enough milk for the big cities.
We need to be extra vigilant about hygiene and this is what the thread is all about. Ask those guys who got sick from raw milk what they think about raw milk.![]()

To help counter some of the more spectacular claims for drinking raw milk, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have published these no-nonsense rumor busters:
Raw milk does not have a natural resistance to bacteria.
Pasteurization does not cause lactose intolerance.
Both pasteurized and raw milk can cause allergic reactions.
There's no proven health benefit associated with drinking raw milk. Claims that raw milk can cure asthma, allergies and other conditions are inaccurate.
Pasteurization does not negatively impact the nutritional value of milk.

Re: Disease outbreaks, start of possible pandemics
FYI high heat denatures enzymes. enzymes are what help the body break down food. So to break down lactose you need the enzyme lactase. lactase is present in milk naturally but when exposed to high heat such as pasteurization it will denature the enzyme and render it useless. Changes in the Ph will also denature enzymes. so if you have a bunch of lactose in the digestive system without enough lactase it will significantly slow down digestion and cause inflammation in the gut which can eventually lead to breaks in the wall of the tissue which then lead to a milk or lactose allergy. same thing happens with gluten and casein etc.

I do agree we should eat food in its natural state - I never peal potatos when cooking etc.
Milk that is mass produced in type of feedlot situations - where most milk comes from is dangerous.
Also most water sources in the world have become contaminated including groundwater in many places - direct products like raw milk can be dangerous - if you can find a small local producer that you trust go for it, all that extra bacteria builds up your resistance.
Most Australians in the outback live on tank water i.e. captured rain water from roof and gutter system, one ocuncel officer told me more than half of the tanks don't meet Australian standard. The other day a local was telling me he cleaned out his tank - a few feet of mud in the bottom and the skin of a 1m (3.3 feet) goanna/lizard and a few birds - his response was beautiful think of all that went through my system - it builds up your resistance - so don't get sick as often. Have a friend that goes to India and she eats raw food and meat to build up her resistance else she gets very sick due to the poor hygiene standards in India.
How much bacteria does one need to stay healthy - that depends on your body's constitution and conditioning.

Re: Disease outbreaks, start of possible pandemics
In a previous word there was a family who drank the raw milk of their own cattle. When having their cattle tested for one or other reason it was revealed that a few of their milk cows had brucellosis. The family had to be tested after and mother and daughter was affected. Another disease carried by cattle is TB. I for one would be scared to drink raw milk unless we have our own cows and are 100% sure that they are disease free and that cows were milked following strict hygiene. I just watched a series on upcoming farmers and a few of them were on dairy farms, some of the cows udders were filthy with mud and probably faeces and when having to wash hundreds at 4 in the morning it is not done properly. so ill stick with pasteurised milk as I don't have a farm.

A friend told me that she heard on the news that a girl found a ISIS laptop, which had plans in it for ISIS to spread Bubonic Plague in the U.S. She couldn't give me any sources, and I haven't heard this. Has anyone else heard of this?, and if so, where did you hear it?----sources?

Re: Disease outbreaks, start of possible pandemics
Bubonic plague is spread by fleas on rats! In order to use it as a weapon it has to be weaponized so it can be spread much easier. Other diseases such as smallpox and anthrax (combined) are already weaponized. Russia could do it for Isis----However, biological agents have the disadvantage of returning upon it's user.believer wrote:A friend told me that she heard on the news that a girl found a ISIS laptop, which had plans in it for ISIS to spread Bubonic Plague in the U.S. She couldn't give me any sources, and I haven't heard this. Persistent (liquid as opposed to gas) nerve agents (VX, only a drop on the skin kills) would create sure deaths and panic, and could be cleaned up later by it's user.

Ebola Doctor Reveals How Infected Americans Were Cured
Last week two American aid workers who had contracted Ebola while working in west Africa were released from a U.S. hospital and pronounced “recovered.” They had been flown to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta from Liberia earlier this month to receive care in the hospital’s specialized infectious disease unit ... Bruce Ribner, medical director of the hospital's Infectious Disease Unit, sat down with Scientific American to explain how the two Americans were cared for, the lessons that could be applied to help patients across Africa and why the hysteria over flying the two individuals back to the U.S. was unfounded.
