Young Maine hacker shows off skills

11-year-old Old Orchard Beach girl hacks replica election results page in under 11 minutes

WMTW Updated: 6:51 PM EDT Aug 17, 2018
LAS VEGAS —
She's not yet old enough to vote, but Audrey Jones has already hacked her way into a replica of an election results page.

The 11-year-old from Old Orchard Beach did so with a group of other tech-savvy kids at DEFCON in Las Vegas, the world's largest conference for hackers.

It took Audrey about 11 minutes.

Once in, she could change votes, names and parties on the mock site, she said.

Part of the reason they conducted the exercise was to show areas in the country's election systems where security could be improved, organizers said.

Audrey took home the "most innovative" award for her age group at

DESCRIPTION
This is—for the first time—the full and unedited story behind the sick life and mysterious death of Jeffrey Epstein that is being called one of the most significant scandals in American history

He was the billionaire financier and close confidant of presidents, prime ministers, movie stars and British royalty, the mysterious self-made man who rose from blue-collar Brooklyn to the heights of luxury. But while he was flying around the world on his private jet and hosting lavish parties at his private island in the Caribbean, he also was secretly masterminding an international child sex ring—one that may have involved the richest and most influential men in the world.

The conspiracy of corruption was an open secret for decades. And then this summer, it all came crashing down.

After his arrest on sex trafficking charges in July, it seemed Epstein’s darkest secrets would finally see the light. But hopes for true justice were shattered on August 10 this year, when he was found dead in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, New York.

The verdict: suicide. The timing: convenient, to say the least.

Now, Epstein: Dead Men Tell No Tales delivers bombshell new revelations, uncovers how the man President Trump once described as a “terrific guy” abused hundreds of underage girls at his mansions in Palm Beach and Manhattan… all while entertaining the world’s most powerful men—including President Clinton, Prince Andrew, and Donald Trump himself.
* How much did they know about his perversions? And did they take part?
* How might they have helped him to continue his abuse, and to escape justice for it?
* What responsibility might they have for his sudden, shocking death?
* And is there a shocking spy and blackmail story at the heart of the scandal?
The answers to these questions and more will be explored in Epstein: Dead Men Tell No Tales with groundbreaking new reporting, never-before-seen court files, and interviews with new witnesses and confidants.

Combining the very best investigative reporting from investigative journalists Dylan Howard, Melissa Cronin and James Robertson—who have been covering the case for close to a decade—will send shockwaves through the highest levels of the establishment.

Alex Vitale thinks we should radically rethink the role of police in our society. In his 2017 book, The End of Policing, the Brooklyn College sociologist argues that armed police perpetuate “the management of inequalities of race and class.” The crux of the problem, he insists, isn’t a lack of police training or diversity but an “unprecedented expansion and intensity of policing in the last forty years. The problem is policing itself.”

A Serious Threat to New York
Gangs could reverse the city’s success in combating violent crime—but a new academic report dismisses their significance.
Rafael A. Mangual
December 23, 2019 New YorkPublic safety
New York has made tremendous strides in fighting violent crime since the 1980s and early 1990s, but pockets of the city still confront relatively high rates of violence. In these neighborhoods, serious crime is largely driven by gangs and “crews”—smaller, less formal groups of youths, with membership usually based on a block or building. According to the New York Police Department, in recent years, gangs—and crews in particular—account for between 30 percent and 40 percent of Gotham’s homicides, and between 40 percent and 49 percent of the city’s shootings.
Many of these crews operate out of New York’s public housing projects, where, according to a Citizen’s Crime Commission of New York City report, “nearly 20 percent of citywide shooting incidents occur.” These projects house less than 5 percent of the city’s population, with approximately 400,000 registered residents—21 percent of whom are over the age of 62 and contribute almost nothing to the violent trend. NYCHA has experienced surging crime over the past year, especially in East Harlem. Gangs present a real threat to the public’s safety; last week, Mayor Bill de Blasio called gangs and crews “one of the central ongoing problems in this city.”
Yet a recent report from Brooklyn College’s Policing and Social Justice Project claims that the “presence of gangs” in New York is “overstated and demonized by the police and media.” Along with supporting activists’ “fight for the rights of . . . those who may be legitimatel

THERE’S A PATTERN OF POLICE UNIONS ATTACKING PEOPLE WHO CALL FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE BLACK
A Philadelphia police union’s recent attack on Players Coalition co-founder Malcolm Jenkins matches rhetorical tactics that officers’ groups are using in the face of outspoken support for criminal justice reforms.

When Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins wrote an opinion piece urging the city’s recently re-elected mayor to pick a new police commissioner who isn’t “in lockstep with the union,” the police union’s response was strikingly—and revealingly—personal.
In a scathing letter to the Philadelphia Inquirer, which published Jenkins’s Nov. 18 commentary, Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police president John McNesby called him “washed up,” said his critiques amounted to a “racist attack,” and ended by asking: “What is the Inquirer’s next plan, a survey of drug dealers?”
Jenkins, who is Black, is a two-time Super Bowl champion and co-founder of the social justice and racial equity group the Players Coalition. He also leads the Eagles in tackles and hasn’t missed a snap in two seasons.

Local lawyer wins MLK verdict

Raymond D. Kohlman believes the truth about the 1968 assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is being kept from the American people.
The 55-year-old Attleboro lawyer has investigated matters related to the assassination for about 20 years.

It was Pepper who convinced the King family that the assassination had been planned and executed by a government plot that included the FBI, CIA, President Lyndon Johnson's White House and the media.

For The Record #115 - Interview with Ray Kohlman and Mike Ruppert
by Dave Emory

Publication date 1998
Usage Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0

Topics CIA, Clinton, Drug Trafficking, Iran-Contra, JFK, Kohlman, LAPD, Mafia, Mike Ruppert, Oliver North, Bill Tyree, Albert Vincent Carone

FTR #115 In October of 1998, Mr. Emory interviewed attorney Ray Kohlman in a conference call with former LAPD narcotics detective Mike Ruppert on the subject of the Tyree suit. Mr. Kohlman is representing former Special Forces soldier Bill Tyree in his lawsuit against George Bush, the CIA, Oliver North and Bill Clinton, among others. The discussion centers on the structure of the lawsuit itself, the current status of the suit (as of the Fall of 1998) and the possible impact of the publication of Volume Two of the CIA Inspector General's report on the agency's involvement in the drug trade. The main element connecting the disparate aspects of the lawsuit is the remarkable career of Albert Vincent Carone, who worked variously for the New York Police Department, the U.S. Army, the CIA and the Mafia. One item of information of particular interest (and not included in the previous broadcasts on the subject) is the allegation Carone made (during a deathbed confession) that he had paid money to Ruth Paine, one of the people who shepherded Lee Harvey Oswald around in the Dallas area. Carone also alleged that he paid money to Jack Ruby on 11/21/63 and that he was on a rooftop on a building at Love Field in Dallas with a rifle in order to kill President Kennedy on 11/22/63 but was unable to get a clear shot.

"...allowing our experiences and analysis to be added to the forum that will constitute public opinion could help halt the disastrous trend toward building more fortresses of fear which will become in the 21st century this generation's monuments to failure."
-Jo-Ann Mayhew, from JPP Vol. 1:1 (1988)
General Information
The Journal of Prisoners on Prisons (JPP) is a prisoner written, academically oriented and peer reviewed, non-profit journal, based on the tradition of the penal press. It brings the knowledge produced by prison writers together with academic arguments to enlighten public discourse about the current state of carceral institutions. This is particularly important because with few exceptions, definitions of deviance and constructions of those participating in these defined acts are incompletely created by social scientists, media representatives, politicians and those in the legal community. These analyses most often promote self-serving interests, omit the voices of those most affected, and facilitate repressive and reactionary penal policies and practices. As a result, the JPPattempts to acknowledge the accounts, experiences, and criticisms of the criminalized by providing an educational forum that allows women and men to participate in the development of research that concerns them directly. In an age where `crime` has become lucrative and exploitable, the JPP exists as an important alternate source of information that competes with popularly held stereotypes and misconceptions about those who are currently, or those who have in the past, faced the deprivation of liberty.

So how good is the flu shot really?/ Clinical Infectious Disease

CDC says flu vaccines prevent flu, on average 40% of the time, but even if you do get flu, the vaccine makes it less severe.  But when these two claims were tested in Australia, neither was found to be true.  The Australian study found  that (in 17 hospitals over 7 recent flu seasons) there was no reduction in flu symptom severity in those who had been vaccinated versus those who had not.

The study also found, using a case-control design, that the vaccine averaged 31% effectiveness at preventing the flu.  Earlier flu studies have been rightly criticized for ignoring the "healthy vaccinee"  effect.  The healthy vaccines effect refers to the fact that, overall, elders who receive flu vaccine in the US are a healthier group than elders who do not receive flu vaccine... possibly because their doctors felt they were too frail to risk a side effect.  If the authors did not take this factor into account (and the whole article is behind a paywall so I could not read the details) then the actual efficacy might be considerably lower.

“The Cops & the Klan Go Hand in Hand!”
by MARTIN BILLHEIMER

Photograph of John Brown by African-American photographer Augustus Washington in Springfield, Massachusetts, c. 1846–47
Back in 1979, the American Nazi Party and the KKK gunned down five members of the Communist Workers Party in Greensboro, NC. Present with the fascists were a turncoat Klansman/ COINTELPRO node named Ed Dawson and an FBI mole, Bernard Butkovich. Though these men knew that the Klan were armed and desirous of a gunfight, nobody outside law enforcement and state security was informed. Five lay dead and dying that afternoon, plus one wounded Nazi. Predictably, all the fascists were later acquitted in both state and federal courts (though the city settled in a separate civic trial, with $351,000 going to the plaintiffs). The message was transparent: We’re watching you and We watch out for our own.
Eight days later, the anti-fascists were rightfully armed at the funerals of their Greensboro comrades. For white antifa, the ideal should be John Brown. As Malcolm X had said in 1965:
For one, when a white man comes to me and tells me how liberal he is, the first thing I want to know, is he a nonviolent liberal, or the other kind. I don’t go for any nonviolent white liberals. If you are for me and my problems – when I say me, I mean us, our people – then you have to be willing to do as old John Brown did. And if you’re not of the John Brown school of liberals, we’ll get you later – later.
It does seem a fair question for someone who cannot disappear, to ask how far the other is going to go. It is less a question of opinion or ‘position’ and more an inquiry into what you have to lose.
The John Brown Anti-Klan Committee chanted No War, No KKK, No Fascist USA!. You hear this chant again today and it provides a title for James Tracy and Hilary Moore’s very fine history of the movement, No Fascist USA!, now available from the venerable City Lights. For some on the Left, it may be in part a cautionary tale; for others, perhaps nostalgia and the recognition of a certain contemporary drift. But for those who think, as new-age crooner Nick Cave does, that Antifa and the fascists are comparable – they won’t be reading.
The John Brown Anti-Klan Committee was born from prison, when Frank Abney, of the Black Liberation Army, discovered that the Klan were heavily recruiting among staff at the New York

Guantánamo: psychologists who designed CIA torture program to testify

The American Psychological Association has disowned Mitchell and Jessen for “violating the ethics of their profession and leaving a stain on the discipline of psychology”.
But both men have insisted they did nothing wrong, arguing they were asked to do things that were declared legal by the George W Bush administration, and that they had to prevent the worst excesses of other interrogators.
Defence lawyers and human rights advocates hope Mitchell and Jessen will cast more light on the scale of the torture programme, the culpability of senior officials and the role of the FBI, which has hitherto presented itself as uninvolved.
“The main points that I will be asking the witnesses about are the deep involvement of the FBI in the rendition detention and interrogation program, the huge bureaucracy that was necessary to support the use of coercive pressure as an interrogation tactic, and the elements of the CIA’s programme that didn’t involve Dr Mitchell and Dr Jessen at all,” said James Connell, lawyer for one of the defendants, Ammar al-Baluchi, who will lead the questioning of Mitchell this week. “There are many other people who are involved.”
Alka Pradhan, another Baluchi lawyer who will take the lead in questioning Jessen said the coming session was “probably one of the most consequential hearings we have had yet” in eight years of pre-trial hearings.
At the core of the prosecution case are a set of statements made by the defendants in 2007 to FBI investigators. The government contends that this was a “clean team” of investigators who had nothing to do with torture. The statements were therefore untainted and admissible in court.
Pradhan said the Mitchell and Jessen testimony would add to already considerable evidence that the FBI also had dirty hands.
“They knew that they needed ‘clean interrogations’ in order to be able to prosecute and eventually execute,” she said. The defence lawyers say there were FBI agents at the black sites during enhanced interrogations and that the FBI submitted questions for the interrogators to use, knowing torture was being used.

Former Orlando Police 'officer of the year' reprimanded for racism, attempting to provoke teens: Officer Jonathan Mills has received a verbal reprimand after video surfaced of the cop proceeding to "taunt, belittle, humiliate and even incite ... violence" against three teenagers – at least one of whom was Black – during an arrest in May 2019. Before this, he was verbally warned for an accusation of racism in 2016, and was hit with an excessive force lawsuit in 2017. And yet! He was named OPD's 2018 "patrol officer of the year." In the video, OPD Internal Affairs says, Mills can be seen grabbing one teen's hands and telling him he's never been in a fight, grabbing a teen's phone and throwing it to the ground, and attempting to goad a teen by saying "I hope he runs."

DONALD TRUMP’S IMPEACHMENT trial is already unfolding as a Mitch McConnell-coordinated farce. This week on Intercepted: The charges against Trump are serious, but they beg the question of why Congress has never impeached a president for war crimes. None of the three Senate trials of a president was for imperial crimes committed in plain sight, despite a long history of presidents invading countries, killing civilians and torturing prisoners. Constitutional and international law scholar Marjorie Cohn discusses the trial of Trump, the refusal of lawmakers to prosecute war crimes and presents the case that Trump should be impeached for assassinating Iranian Gen. Qassim Suleimani in Baghdad. This month marks 29 straight years that the US has been bombing Iraq. Joe Biden, who proactively aided and abetted the Bush administration’s drive for war, has been openly lying about his record, but Bernie Sanders also has some serious questions he needs to answer about his own support for regime change, missile strikes and deadly economic sanctions. Jeremy Scahill and Sam Husseini, of the Institute for Public Accuracy, present a thorough history of both candidates records on Iraq over the past three decades.

The Cincinnati Bell-FBI scandal:  Leonard Gates, a Cincinnati Bell employee for 23 years, testified that in the late 1970's and 80's, the FBI assisted telephone companies with hacking into mainframe election computers in cities across the country. He spoke with agents from both the DOJ (U.S. Attorney Kathleen M. Brinkman) and FBI (Agent Love), but to his knowledge, neither agency took further action.  Leonard Gates 1987Deposition, plus 1985 Background Material from Jim Condit, Jr. //Pandora's Black Box & http://www.votefraud.org/expert_strunk_report.htm (contains case number)
* Gates testified, P. 28, "He (Gates's supervisor, Mr. Jim West,) said the programming was obtained out of California, and that the programming had been obtained through the FBI, and all this kind of stuff, and that was about it."
* Page 34 excerpt: "And I knew that we did do certain things under certain court direction, under certain court orders, and I just didn't see where they would have a court order to get into that, and I expressed my concern to Mr. Dugan (President of Cincinnati Bell).  Mr. Dugan said it was a very gray area, and that they were into like New York and Atlanta, Georgia, and to the other computers, you know.  This was just small compared to what was going on."
* Page 39, "...and I said, "Well, do you (Mr.Fedrich, vice president of Cincinnati Bell) have a blanket court order on this or what?"  And he kind of weasel-worded me, to be honest with you.  He said "Well, our relationship with the FBI is very, very close."
Excerpt from Nov 1996, Pandora's Black Box by Philip M. O’Halloran of Relevance, The Cincinnati Election Wiretapping Scandal:
Lewis and other skeptics of the vote-fixing scenario like to insist that there has never been any evidence of a "conspiracy" to fix elections by computer. But then, most of those we interviewed on both sides of the issue had never heard of the case of Leonard Gates of Cincinnati, Ohio. An employee of the Cincinnati Bell telephone company, Gates was watching a local t.v. news story, in which a Cincinnati man named Jim Condit was charging that the election system was vulnerable to vote fraud in the Hamilton county election process.
He based his charges on his experience as a candidate for city council in 1979, when, after an election night computer crash, Condit and seven other "feisty challengers" had suddenly "fallen to the very bottom of the heap" of 26 candidates. Gates called the station and later contacted Mr. Condit, telling him he knew firsthand how his votes were robbed. They met and shared information and ultimately Gates testified in Condit’s Cincinnatus PAC (political action committee) lawsuit against the Hamilton County Board of Elections.
The suit had earlier been decided against the plaintiffs and Gates took the stand during the appeal. He swore under oath that he was ordered by his Cincinnati Bell superiors to wiretap the election headquarters’ phones lines to provide a link-up between the county’s vote-counting computers and parties unknown on another phone line somewhere in California.
The following are excerpts from the Cincinnati Post of October, 30th, 1987:
Cincinnati Bell security supervisors ordered wire-taps installed on county computers before elections in the late 1970s and early 1980s that could have allowed vote totals to be altered, a former Bell employee says in a sworn court document.
Leonard Gates, a 23-year Cincinnati Bell employee until he was fired in 1986, claims in a deposition filed Thursday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court to have installed the wire-taps. Cincinnati Bell officials denied Gates’ allegations that are part of a six-year-old civil suit that contends the elections computer is subject o manipulation and fraud.
Gates claims a security supervisor for the telephone company told him in 1979 that the firm had obtained a computer program through the FBI that gave it access to the county computer used to count votes. [Emphasis added].
The FBI refused comment and Cincinnati Bell spokesmen vehemently denied the allegations, claiming Gates was a "disgruntled ex-employee", yet, according to Condit, the company ultimately admitted that one of its vans was involved in the wiretapping, although it claimed they were commandeered without the company’s knowledge. The Post continued:
In the deposition, Gates claims he first installed a wire-tap on a telephone line to the county computers before the 1977 election at the instruction of James West, a Bell security supervisor.
Gates contends both West and Peter Gabor, security director, told him to install wire-taps in subsequent elections. Both men declined comment Thursday.
In the 1979 election, which is the focus of the deposition – Gates said he received instructions in the mail from West about installing wire-taps on county computers in the County Administration Building at Court and Main streets.
The wire-taps were installed on the eve of the election at Cincinnati Bell’s switching control center at Seventh and Elm Streets and terminated in a conference room in the building, Gates alleges.
In the deposition, Gates described in great technical detail installation of the wire-taps.
At about 8:30 p.m. on election day – Nov. 6, 1979 – Gates said he was called by West and told something had gone wrong, causing the elections computer to malfunction. At West’s instructions, Gates said he removed the taps.
The elections computer shutdown for two hours on election evening due to what was believed to be a power failure, Condit Sr. has said.
Gates said West told him they "had the ability to actually alter what was being done with the votes."
Gates said West told him the Board of elections did not know about the taps and that the computer program for the elections computer "was obtained out of California, and that the programming had been obtained through the FBI..."
Shortly after the 1979 election, Gates said he met with the late Richard Dugan, former Cincinnati Bell president, to express his concerns that the wire-taps were done without a court order.
"Mr. Dugan said it was a very gray area... This was just small compared to what was going on. He told me just, if I had a problem, to talk to him and everything would be okay, but everything was under control," Gates said [Emphasis added].
[Editor’s Note: This scandal’s alleged FBI connection raises the possibility of U.S. law enforcement and/or intelligence involvement in electronic vote-rigging.]
Another Cincinnati Bell employee, named Bob Draise, admitted to being involved in a second phase of the illegal operation, which involved wiretapping several prominent Cincinnati political figures including a crusader against pornography named Keating and the Hamilton County commissioner, Allen Paul.
Jim Condit told Relevance that, as a result of the ensuing scandal, Draise was convicted and five Cincinnati police officers, who were allegedly involved in the wiretapping operation, abruptly resigned. The alleged involvement of the FBI was never pursued and the Bureau itself did not follow up on the Gates allegations. In spite of all the evidence, the appeal by the plaintiff failed and the issue was laid to rest.

FEDERAL COMPLICITY IN VOTE FRAUD - excerpts from Lynn Landes's 2007 'REPORT TO CONGRESS'
The unique vulnerability of electronic voting technologies has been long known to federal authorities.
“If you did it right, no one would ever know,” said Craig C. Donsanto, head of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Election Crimes Branch, Public Integrity Section (from 1970-present) in a July 4,1989 Los Angeles Times article about electronic voting machines and vote fraud.
So, why hasn't Donsanto sounded the alarm and informed Congress of this threat?
Donsanto has the reputation of a gatekeeper.  He was featured in the Colliers' book, VoteScam, for his unwil

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 14, 2018
DOJ OIG Releases Procedural Reform Recommendation for the FBI to Strengthen its Training for Supervisors and Managers Regarding Statutory Whistleblower Protections
Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz announced today the release of a Procedural Reform Recommendation (PRR) for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The DOJ Office of the Inspector General (OIG) releases PRRs when, through its investigative work, it identifies a systematic weakness in Justice Department operations, programs, policies, procedures, or practices, and has a recommendation to address the identified problem.
In today’s PRR, the OIG concluded that the training provided by the FBI to its supervisors and managers does not contain sufficient information concerning identifying protected disclosures under 5 U.S.C.
§ 2303 and responding appropriately to those disclosures from a management perspective. Accordingly, the OIG recommended that the FBI take steps to strengthen this training to ensure that management employees recognize that: (1) communications by FBI employees to offices or officials outside of the “chain of command” may be protected disclosures under 5 U.S.C. § 2303; and (2) penalizing FBI employees for violating the “chain of command” when they are engaged in protected activity may be a violation of the law.
Today’s PRR arose out of an investigation into allegations from an FBI technician that he was threatened with reprisal for making a protected disclosure under the FBI Whistleblower Regulations to a Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of an FBI Division where the technician served a Temporary Duty (TDY) assignment. At the time the FBI technician made the disclosure, the SAC was not in the technician’s “chain of command.” In direct response to the disclosure, a supervisor in the technician’s home
office — after being counseled by a second supervisor and the Administrative Officer (AO) for that office — threatened to lower the technician’s annual performance appraisal rating and deny future requests for TDY opportunities. The OIG concluded that there were reasonable grounds to believe that the technician suffered reprisals as a result of his protected disclosures.
As a result of the OIG’s investigative findings, on March 8, 2018, the OIG separately recommended that DOJ’s Office of Attorney Recruitment and Management (OARM) order corrective action instructing the FBI to formally withdraw or otherwise eliminate the threats by the technician’s supervisors and the AO to downgrade the technician’s performance appraisal rating and deprive him of TDY opportunities.
Today’s PRR is available under “Recent Reports” on the OIG’s website and at the following link:
https://oig.justice.gov/reports/2018/o1801.pdf.
The Investigative Summary for the investigation that led to today’s PRR is also available under “Recent Reports” on the OIG’s website and at the following link: https://oig.justice.gov/reports/2018/f180314.pdf.

The OIG’s Memorandum to OARM, dated March 8, 2018, is available under “Recent Reports” on the OIG’s website and at the following link: https://oig.justice.gov/reports/2018/memo-180308.pdf.

Briefly:
* At USA Today, Richard Wolf predicts “a ferocious battle this year if a seat falls vacant” on the Supreme Court.
* Garrett Epps weighs in at The Atlantic on abortion case June Medical Services v. Russo, arguing that “third-party standing offers only illusory refuge from the grim truth that the Fifth Circuit has raised a judicial middle finger to the Court[:] If the five conservative justices let the lower court manipulate them this time, other conservative lower-court majorities will be back again and again, the appellate tail wagging the meek Supreme Court dog.”
* At Reason, Damon Root questions the lower court’s conclusion in Fourth Amendment case Torres v. Madrid “that no seizure occurred when officers with the New Mexico State Police shot Roxanne Torres twice in the back, because their bullets did not actually stop her from getting away.”

Dr. Nick Begich Talks About The FBI's Involvement In The Murders Of His Father Congressman Nick Begich & Congressman Hale Boggs

FBI Fabrication Of Telexes Used To Contradict Earlier Telexes Obtained By Role Call Magazine Which Prove The FBI Knew The Whereabouts Of Congressman Hale Boggs Downed Aircraft
Editor's Note: After this author posts the following article, several months later, a Website which contains information on the original Role Call attainment of three telexes it procured from the U.S. Freedom Of Information Act, posts an update in regard to "new information" which claims to discredits the original three telexes.
The Website also contains a "new" statement from Cokie Roberts, the youngest daughter of Congressman Hale Boggs, claiming that Boggs was not unhappy with the Warren Commission Report, and that he did not believe that there was a conspiracy within the U.S. federal government in which to murder John F. Kennedy.
Cokie Roberts' statement is a blatant lie. The released White House tapes contain a recording between Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford describing how Boggs had openly criticized the FBI while speaking on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, for bugging several members of Congress (including Boggs himself). The conversation between Nixon and Ford in regard to Boggs, leaves one with the impression that they are very concerned that Boggs is going to go public with his concerns over the Warren Commission's being a complete fraud, which would prompt the American people to call for a new investigation into the murder of John F. Kennedy.
The "new telexes" (which conveniently showed up after this author posted the following article in regard to my concerns that Hale Boggs was murdered as the result of a criminal conspiracy between the CIA, FBI and Nixon White House) could very well be total fabrications, which are being used to discredit the earlier accurate telexes regarding the FBI's intent to sabotage the search for Boggs' plane.
Moreover, the fact that J. Edgar Hoover would die under mysterious circumstances only months after Boggs' plane disappeared, only makes the situation more conspiratorial. As does the fact that a young Bill Clinton is said to have driven Boggs to the airport on the day that Boggs disappeared.
Has the FBI ever manufactured evidence in the past? Yes, and frequently, as the Bureau did regardin

Action Alert

Members of Congress have mounted a major threat to your security online.

The Graham-Blumenthal bill deals with the very serious issue of child exploitation online, but it offers no meaningful solutions. It doesn’t help organizations that support victims. It doesn’t equip law enforcement agencies with resources to investigate claims of child exploitation or training in how to use online platforms to catch perpetrators. Rather, the bill’s authors have used defending children as the pretense for an attack on our free speech and security online.

Bottom line: the Graham-Blumenthal bill would give the Attorney General far too much power to dictate how Internet companies must operate. We all know how AG William Barr would use that power: to break encryption.

Barr has repeatedly insisted that communications platforms should undermine their own security in order to give law enforcement agencies access to our private messages. The Graham-Blumenthal bill would finally give Barr the power to demand that those platforms obey him or face serious repercussions, including both civil and criminal liability. Barr’s demands would put encryption providers like WhatsApp and Signal in an awful conundrum: either face the possibility of losing everything in a single lawsuit or knowingly undermine their users’ security, making all of us more vulnerable to criminals.

The so-called EARN IT Act is anti-speech, anti-security, anti-innovation, and unnecessary. Let’s tell Congress to reject it.

Take Action
Stop the Graham-Blumenthal Bill

Richly researched broadside against the FBI's invasion of the rights of US writers to think for themselves; by the co-author of the Edgar-winning Savage Grace (1985). Aside from the 146 writers whose files were recovered from the FBI through the Freedom of Information Act for use in this book, Robins lists even more whose files she did not get access to or who are not discussed here for lack of space. Files of living authors can be released only to the authors themselves, but Robins did write to many—such as Arthur Miller, Norman Mailer, and Kay Boyle- -who had recovered their own files and who passed on to her their response to notes by FBI agents and informants. Paul Epstein Connected Warming to Human Health Impacts
Dr. Paul Epstein, Expert in Public Health, Is Dead at 67
The New York Times, Nov. 14, 2011
Dr. Paul Epstein, a public health expert who was among the first to warn of a link between the spread of infectious disease and extreme weather events, adding a new dimension to research into the potential impact of global climate change, died on Sunday at his home in Boston. He was 67.
The cause was lymphoma, said his wife, Andy.
Dr. Epstein, a physician and associate director of the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School, published widely in scientific journals beginning in the early 1990s about what were then some of the less obvious potential effects of excessive carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
He wrote about ocean warming-spiked algae blooms, and how they might be the source of recent cholera outbreaks, how milder winters and hotter summers favored mosquito breeding in areas where there had been outbreaks of encephalitis, how the same conditions accelerated the growth of ragweed, and how some particulate matter from coal-burning plants was particularly good at carrying pollen and other allergens deep into the lungs, possibly explaining a worldwide asthma epidemic since 1980.
His views provoked arguments. Within the politically contentious climate-change debate, it has been especially hard to prove direct links between climate events and the outbreak of disease.
But Dr. Epstein’s prolific writing and his championing of others’ research broadened the terms of the debate — initially focused on long-term threats facing coastal populations and Arctic polar bears, for instance — to include questions about potentially sudden, unforeseeable public health catastrophes.
Former Vice President Al Gore, who tapped Dr. Epstein as a science adviser in conceiving the slide show about global warming that became the basis of the Academy Award-winning 2006 documentary  "An Inconvenient Truth,"  praised him not only for his research but also for “his rare ability to communicate the subtleties and complexities of his field.”
“Paul was truly a pioneer in the area of climate change and infectious disease,” Mr. Gore said in an e-mail on Monday.
Dr. Epstein’s initial interest in the field was sparked by observations he made as a volunteer physician in East Africa, beginning in the late 1970s in Mozambique. He saw outbreaks of disease that had not been recorded before — “malaria high up in the mountains of Kenya, tick-borne diseases that were hard to explain,” said his wife, a public health nurse who lived in Mozambique with Dr. Epstein and their two children from 1978 to 1980.
But it was a seminal 1989 article in The New England Journal of Medicine — “Potential Health Effects of Global Climatic and Environmental Changes,” by Dr. Alex Leaf, a Harvard Medical School professor and chief of medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital — that suggested the possibility that those unusual outbreaks among the poorest people in Africa might be related to climate change.
“Dr. Leaf’s article gave us a new insight,” said Dr. Eric Chivian, director of the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard and a longtime friend and colleague of Dr. Epstein.
“We realized our responsibility as physicians was to educate people that climate change was not just about whales, wolves and polar bears,” Dr. Chivian added.
Paul Robert Epstein was born on Nov. 16, 1943, in Manhattan, the older of two children of Nathan Epstein, a physician, and Edith Hillman Boxill, a music therapist. He was a graduate of the Little Red School House, a progressive private school, where his classmates included figures active in the ’60s antiwar movement like Angela Davis and Kathy Boudin. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School, Cornell University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Benjamin; a daughter, Jesse; and a sister, Emily Duby.
Dr. Epstein worked throughout his life as a primary care physician in poor communities, mainly in Boston, and also did stints of volunteer service in several East African countries.
Soon after attending a United Nations Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro with Dr. Chivian, where the topic of human disease was barely mentioned, he helped frame the idea for the Harvard Center for Health and the Global Environment, which was established in 1993.
With Dr. Chivian, a professor of clinical psychiatry, he taught a course at Harvard Medical School, “Human Health and Global Environmental Change,” that became a template for similar courses now taught at more than 65 medical and graduate schools around the country, Dr. Chivian said.
In an interview with The New York Times in 1998 about that year’s outbreak of cholera and malaria in South America in the wake of El Niño flooding, and simultaneous outbreaks of cholera, malaria and Rift Valley Fever in Africa after heavy rains and flooding, Dr. Epstein made the case for linkage.
“If extreme weather events are part of a changing climate,” he said, “we’ve seen lots of evidence of the profound health effects associated with climate change this year.”

Why are some of the US' top scientists making a specious argument about the natural origin of SARS-CoV-2?

1.  I know about biological warfare/biodefense.  I am the first person in the world (according to publicly available literature) to have analyzed an epidemic and demonstrated that the epidemic was due to biological warfare. (1992 study of the 1978-1980 Rhodesian anthrax outbreak, published in Medicine and Global Survival).
https://www.ippnw.org/pdf/mgs/psr-2-4-nass.pdf

2.  Prior to genetic engineering techniques being developed (1973) and widely used (since late 1970s), more ‘primitive’ means of causing mutations, with the intention of developing biological weapons, were employed.  Such methods were used by the Japanese beginning in the 1930s, by the US beginning in the 1940s, and by a number of other countries. They resulted in biological weapons that were tested, well-described, and in some cases, used. Such methods were also used subsequent to the 1970s.

3.  These methods can result in biowarfare agents that lack the identifiable signature of a microbial agent constructed in a lab from known

Refugees in Germany who are doctors answer call to fight coronavirus
With thousands of doctors in Germany stricken with covid-19, there’s a continual need for more medical personnel to help battle the novel coronavirus. It’s a predicament faced by countries worldwide, but Germany has one asset some others in Europe don’t: Medical professionals among the more than 1 million refugees the country took in over recent years.
German medical groups have appealed to refugees who are doctors and health-care workers but who don’t yet have their licenses to practice in Germany, asking them to be in touch about finding work. A Facebook page for Syrian doctors in Germany estimated that about 14,000 Syrian refugees are doctors and are awaiting the approval of their qualifications, the Guardian reported.
“I was waiting for the exam for medical language use, but then the coronavirus came and everything has ground to a halt,” 37-year-old Safwan Adnan Ali, a Syrian refugee who studied general surgery in Syria, told the Guardian. “When

The US National Biodefense Strategy

In September 2018, the White House announced its improved National Biodefense Strategy, as required by Congress.  Below I have excerpted its Goals, Objectives and Conclusions, listed on pages 6-8 of the Strategy.  As you can see, despite the claimed quest for a biodefense capability, the US government has failed miserably in accomplishing any and all of its goals for preventing and mitigating a biodefense event.

Between FY 2001 and FY 2014,  $79 Billion dollars was spent on civilian biodefense by the US government. The public needs an accounting of why, with taxpayers funding numerous government agencies included within 8 separate cabinet-level Departments, a dedicated DHHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), and 24 dedicated, university-affiliated centers, all for biodefense, no one seems to have been prepared for anything.

Digging deeper, we learn that the US government, especially through Fauci's NIAID at NIH and USAID, has been sponsoring research in the US and in China to create coronavirus chimeras with "notable pathogenesis." In fact, special permission was granted to allow this research to go forward when SARS-CoV gain-of-function research was temporarily banned in the US.  Here the ASPR website explains that gain-of-function research improves the ability of a pathogen to cause disease.  But that is okay, since such research is "informing public health and preparedness efforts, and furthering medical countermeasure development."

Well then, insensible biodefense researchers and bureaucrats, where are those countermeasures and preparedness efforts?  You have been paying for and producing new, virulent coronaviruses for many years.  You failed on 4 tries at a vaccine in 2012.  You haven't produced a single drug.

Did it ever occur to you to think that creating ever more virulent coronaviruses was not a good idea?  Did it cross your minds that your research might do more harm than good? Did anyone ever suggest it was time to obey the Biological Weapons Convention as written and originally interpreted? Did you and your international collaborators ever consider incinerating your creations and moving on to something else?

From the White House report:

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES (the blue emphases are mine)

The National Biodefense Strategy has five goals with associated objectives for strengthening the biodefense enterprise, establishing a layered risk management approach to countering biological threats and incidents.

GOAL 1: ENABLE RISK AWARENESS TO INFORM DECISION-MAKING ACROSS THE BIODEFENSE ENTERPRISE. The United States will build risk awareness at the strategic level, through analyses and research efforts to characterize deliberate, accidental, and natural biological risks; and at the operational level, through surveillance and detection activities to detect and identify biological threats and anticipate biological incidents.

OBJECTIVES: 1.1: Ensure decision-making is informed by intelligence, forecasting, and risk assessment. 1.2: Ensure that domestic and international biosurveillance and information-sharing systems are coordinated and are capable of timely bioincident prevention, detection, assessment, response, and recovery.

GOAL 2: ENSURE BIODEFENSE ENTERPRISE CAPABILITIES TO PREVENT BIOINCIDENTS. The United States will work to prevent the outbreak and spread of naturally occurring disease, and minimize the chances of laboratory accidents. The United States will also strengthen biosecurity to prevent hostile actors from obtaining or using biological material, equipment, and expertise for nefarious purposes, consistent with the United States Government’s approach to countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD) terrorism. Goal 2 will ensure we have the capabilities necessary to disrupt plots, degrade technical capabilities, and deter support for terrorists seeking to use WMD. This goal also recognizes the "dual use" natures of the life sciences and biotechnology, in which the same science and technology base that improves health, promotes innovation, and protects the environment, can also be misused to facilitate a biological attack. The United States seeks to prevent the misuse of science and technology while promoting and enhancing legitimate use and innovation.

OBJECTIVES: 2.1: Promote measures to prevent or reduce the spread of naturally occurring infectious diseases. 2.3: Deter, detect, degrade, disrupt, deny, or otherwise prevent nation-state and non-state actors’ attempts to pursue, acquire, or use biological weapons, related materials, or their means of delivery. 2.2: Strengthen global health security capacities to prevent local bioincidents from becoming epidemics. 2.4: Strengthen biosafety and biosecurity practices and oversight to mitigate risks of bioincidents. 7

GOAL 3: ENSURE BIODEFENSE ENTERPRISE PREPAREDNESS TO REDUCE THE IMPACTS OF BIOINCIDENTS. The United States will take measures to reduce the impacts of bioincidents, including maintaining a vibrant national science and technology base to support biodefense; ensuring a strong public health infrastructure; developing, updating, and exercising response capabilities; establishing risk communications; developing and effectively distributing and dispensing medical countermeasures; and preparing to collaborate across the country and internationally to support biodefense.

OBJECTIVES: 3.1: Ensure a vibrant and innovative national science and technology base to support biodefense. 3.6: Enhance preparedness to limit the spread of disease through Community Mitigation Measures (CMMs). 3.2: Ensure a strong public and veterinary health infrastructure. 3.7: Enhance preparedness to support decontamination. 3.3: Develop, exercise, and update prevention, response, and recovery plans and capabilities. 3.8: Strengthen preparedness to operate and collaborate across the United States, including the U.S. territories. 3.4: Develop, exercise, and update risk communication plans and promote consistent messaging to inform key audiences, expedite desired response actions, and address public uncertainty and fear. 3.9: Strengthen international preparedness to support international response and recovery capabilities. 3.5: Enhance preparedness to save lives through MCMs. [Medical countermeasures, such as drugs and vaccines, which would include the chloroquine drugs--Nass]

GOAL 4: RAPIDLY RESPOND TO LIMIT THE IMPACTS OF BIOINCIDENTS. The United States will respond rapidly to limit the impacts of bioincidents through information-sharing and networking; coordinated response operations and investigations; and effective public messaging. OBJECTIVES: 4.1: Compile and share biothreat and bioincident information to enable appropriate decision-making and response operations across all levels of government and with non-governmental, private sector, and international entities, as appropriate. 4.3: Conduct operations and investigations, and use all available tools to hold perpetrators accountable. 4.2: Conduct federal response operations and activities in coordination with relevant non-federal actors to contain, control, and rapidly mitigate impacts of biothreats or bioincidents. 4.4: Execute risk-informed, accurate, timely, and actionable public messaging.

GOAL 5: FACILITATE RECOVERY TO RESTORE THE COMMUNITY, THE ECONOMY, AND THE ENVIRONMENT AFTER A BIOINCIDENT. The United States will take actions to restore critical infrastructure services and capability; coordinate recovery activities; provide recovery support and long-term mitigation; and minimize cascading effects elsewhere in the world. OBJECTIVES: 5.1: Promote restoration of critical infrastructure capability and capacity to enable the resumption of vital U.S. activities. 5.3: Provide recovery support and conduct long-term mitigation actions to promote resilience. 5.2: Ensure coordination of recovery activities across federal and SLTT governments and, as appropriate, international, non-governmental, and private sector partners to enable effective and efficient recovery operations. 5.4: Reduce the cascading effects of international biological incidents on the global economy, health, and security. 8

CONCLUSION The risks from biological threats cannot be reduced to zero – but they can and must be managed. Wide-ranging threats require a comprehensive approach to minimizing the risks. Through this National Biodefense Strategy, the United States Government will optimize its own efforts, and harness the work of essential partners—inside government and outside, domestically and internationally—to understand, prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the full range of biological threats that can harm the American people and our partners.

Since the Trump administration declared national emergency in mid-march over the rapid spread of COVID-19, the task of developing a vaccine has fallen on the U.S. Army’s top virus research lab in Fort Detrick, located in suburban Maryland some 50 miles outside of Washington, D.C..
Over the past decades, leading researches on a wide range of viruses and bacteria were conducted inside the sprawling complex. Its state-of-the-art facilities also store some of the most dangerous toxins known to mankind, including Ebola, anthrax and the SARS coronavirus.
The obscure army base came under the spotlight in 2008 after one of its scientists was suspected to have perpetrated the 2001 anthrax attack, where several letters containing the deadly germ was mailed to American media and government offices.
Last year, one of the most prominent high-security labs inside the campus was shut down by health authorities due to safety violations. Besides a few incidents here and there, Fort Detrick seems like an ordinary place for modern medical science. Dialing back to history a little further, however, a period of purely freakish history begins to emerge.
After World War II, Fort Detrick became a site of horrifying scientific experiments conducted under a top-secret CIA quest to control the human mind, known as Project MK Ultra. After more than 20 years, the project ended in abysmal failure and led to an unknown number of deaths, including a scientist who participated in the project, and at least hundreds of American and Canadian victims subjected to mental and physical torture. The experiments not only violated international law, but also the agency’s own charter which forbids domestic activity.
Project MK Ultra was brought to life by the godfather of America’s intelligence empire – CIA Director Allen Dulles, whose ever-fiery rhetoric about Soviet threat helped him prop up an omnipotent national security apparatus that would come to define American politics. In 1953, after capturing American pilots who admitted to deploying anthrax during the Korean War, Dulles began touting theories that they had been brainwashed by then communists of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. To ensure national security, he argued, the U.S. must devise its own brainwashing program.
Dulles’ claim turned out to be based on nothing more than pure Cold War fantasy as a report he later commissioned rejected the communist brainwashing claims. Yet, the cunning spymaster Dulles who was known to have actively rescued several top Nazi officials against the will of his own government, continued the program for a far more nefarious reason.
As explained by David Talbot in his book The Devil’s Chessboard, many spies recruited in the early days of the Cold War were sketchy, undependable characters motivated by inner vulnerabilities such as greed, lust or revenge. Meanwhile, the agency was looking for ways to rule

Do you have the right to know what police officers engaged in misconduct?
Due to a court ruling, federal prosecutors must keep a list of all DC police officers who have been investigated for misconduct. If an officer on this list is called to testify, prosecutors must inform the defense of this information.
Property of the People, a transparency organization, thinks the public should know who’s on this list. That’s why they are litigating a FOIA request seeking the release of the so-called bad cop list.
Join us tomorrow at 1:00 pm (ET) when we will be hosting a Lunchtime Live conversation with Ryan Shapiroand Jeffrey Light, co-founders of Property of the People, to discuss their attempt to liberate this list.
RSVP Today!

Garland Maine Climatology for June, 2020

Garland Climatology for June, 2020 (35 year averages in parentheses):
average max:  77.9F (74.5F)
average min:  55.0F (54.3F)
extreme max:  95F
extreme min:  33F
total precipitation:   1.97 in. (5.26 in.)
total snowfall:  0.0 in. (0.0 in.)

June turned into a significantly warmer than usual month after a chilly start that saw many locations have a killing frost right at the beginning of the month.  But this cool start was more than balanced by a mid-month heat wave that saw most locations around central Maine have a string of days that saw high temperatures rise to well into the 90sF while they only fell into the 60s at night.  Only the immediate coast failed to take part in the heat since those locations tended to have sea breezes most days for much of the month.  The reason for the down and up conditions had to do with the wavy jet stream that plunged well to our south during the cool spells and then moved well to our north during the heat wave.  The rest of the time it tended to move west to east right over Maine and that flow tended to keep us much drier than usual and which added to the severity of the building drought conditions that set up over all of most of the state.  There were signs that a more variable pattern was setting up toward the end of the month that would tend to bring periodic showers and thunderstorms, though it’s still not certain if that pattern change would be enough to break the drought conditions.  It was warm enough so that we ended up with 44 cooling degrees rather than a more normal 18 heating degrees in an average June.  This compares with 37 heating degrees last year which was a noticeably cooler and wetter month.

By 1924, the Dallas chapter of the Klan was the largest in the nation, including one out of every three eligible men in Dallas.[7] Dallas County voters placed Klan or Klan-supported candidates in control of the courthouse in 1922 and of City Hall in the following year. The State Fair of Texas officially designated October 23, 1923, as Ku Klux Klan Day. Two successive district attorneys were Klansmen, as were the sheriff, the police commissioner, the police chief, judges, and others. A close friend of H.L. Hunt, Lt. George Butler, the head of the Policeman’s Union in Dallas, was a member of the Klan. He once told Penn Jones Jr., a former Army colonel at Anxio and Texas liberal newspaper operator, that one half of the Dallas police force were Klansmen.[8] Four of the Klan’s Executive Committee of Ten and at least twenty of its Steering Committee of One Hundred were members of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce.[9]

The shooting
On May 19, 1971, Thomas Curry and Nicholas Binetti, two New York City Police Department officers who were guarding the home of Frank S. Hogan, the Manhattan district attorney, were fired upon in a drive-by shooting, with a machine gun.[3] The officers survived, but were seriously injured, sustaining shots to the head, neck, chest, and abdomen.

The shootings took place during a period of intense violence between black activist organizations and the New York City police department. Two days later, NYPD officers Waverly Jones and Joseph Piagentini were shot and killed outside a housing project in Harlem.[4][5]

Wahad was arrested and initially charged with robbing a South Bronx social club, and then was later charged with the attempted murders of Curry and Binetti.

Wahad's first trial ended in a hung jury; his second in a mistrial. Two years later, in 1973, his third trial resulted in a guilty verdict; he was sentenced to twenty-five years to life.[6]

Prison and release
Wahad spent a total of nineteen years in prison. While incarcerated, he learned about Congressional hearings that disclosed the existence of a covert F.B.I. operation known as COINTELPRO. In December 1975 he filed a lawsuit against the F.B.I. and the police department of the City of New York.

As a direct result of his lawsuit, over the next fifteen years the F.B.I. released more than 300,000 pages of documents regarding COINTELPRO. The COINTELPRO documents were the basis on which Wahad appealed his conviction, and on March 15, 1990, Judge Peter J. McQuillan of the New York Supreme Court in Manhattan reversed it, ruling that the prosecution had failed to disclose evidence that could have helped Mr. Wahad's defense.[7]

While Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau stated that he planned to appeal the ruling, and would obtain a retrial if his appeal failed, Wahad was freed and released without bail.

Morgenthau's attempt to appeal was rejected by the Appellate Division of the New York Supreme Court,[8] and on January 20, 1995, the Manhattan district attorney's office stated there would be no retrial, indicating that the current condition of the evidence would make this impossible.[9]

Lawsuits
In 1995, the F.B.I. settled with Wahad; the U.S. government paid him $400,000.[10]

On December 4, 2000, Dhoruba's suit against the New York Police Department, seeking $15 million in damages was scheduled to begin.[11] On December 8, 2000, the city of New York laid to rest a 25-year legal battle, and agreed to pay Wahad an additional $490,000 in damages.[3]

JUSTICE FOR SARAYA REES

We demand justice for 14-year-old Saraya Rees in Myrtle Point, Oregon. Saraya is a child who battles with mental illness. She was abruptly and improperly taken off her antidepressants by a local pediatrician which triggered her to go into psychosis. In this delusional state, she poured a small amount of gasoline on the living room carpet during the early morning hours, as her parents and younger and younger sister slept in the next rooms. Saraya’s parents contacted Coos Health & Wellness for assistance. Rather than sending trained mental health advisors, Coos Health & Wellness called the police. Saraya was then arrested, questioned without her parents or a lawyer present, charged with attempted murder and assault, and sentenced to 11 years in juvenile prison by Judge Megan Jacquot. Saraya remains incarcerated to this day with no mental health support and will be 25 years old when she is eligible for parole. This is not justice. This is inhumane.
We demand to have Saraya’s case reopened and charges reassessed. We demand to see Coos Health & Wellness take responsibility and ensure their thoughtless actions are never repeated. We demand to see the corrective steps taken from Coos County Deputy Spencer Bell and Myrtle Point Police Officer Aaron Gilbert to ensure this never happens to an innocent child again. We demand DAs Kate McClintock and Paul Frasier admit they were wrong to pressure Saraya into a false confession when she was 13 and ill, and drop the charges against her now. We demand the release of Saraya Rees from juvenile prison and that she receives the appropriate mental health treatment for her condition. Mental illness is not a crime. Being black is not a crime. We demand justice and accountability.

THE STORY:
Saraya Rees is a bright, beautiful, 14-year-old girl from Coos County, Oregon, who was wrongly sentenced to 11 years in juvenile prison without the possibility of parole. She will be 25 years old when even eligible for parole, having missed out on the entirety of her formative teenage years.
With a documented history of mental health struggles, Saraya had also been regularly bullied at her school, Myrtle Point High, for being biracial. Her loving parents, Shannon & Manny, were advised she be put on anti-depressants and therapy after it was revealed that Saraya had been self-harming.
On July 8th, 2019, 3 days after being improperly taken off antidepressants cold-turkey by a pediatrician who was not Saraya’s regular doctor, 13-year old Saraya went into a manic state of psychosis ‪at 4 am‬. It is not uncommon to experience delusions and hallucinations which distract from normal cognitive function during psychotic episodes that can last days or weeks at a time. In her manic state, Saraya poured a small amount of gasoline from a lawnmower onto her living room floor. Her dad woke up and found her sitting on the living room floor in a daze. As recommended by her doctor, in the event she showed signs of further self-harm, Saraya’s parents called the 24-Hour Crisis Team at Coos Health & Wellness Center who they expected to pick her up. Because it was the early hours of the morning, the Crisis Center elected to call the Myrtle Point Police and Coos County Sheriff’s Department instead who stormed their house, guns drawn, and handcuffed 95 lb Saraya in front of her parents and terrified 3-year-old sister.
Coos Health & Wellness claimed that Saraya was supposed to be transported to the Bay Area Hospital but they lost track of her, indicating in Saraya’s files that they “don’t know who called the police”, and that Myrtle Point decided they “didn’t need [Coos Health & Wellness] to respond at the time since they had enough to take her to Bay Area Hospital.”
Saraya was, however, taken to the police department where she was read her Miranda rights without a parent or attorney present and informed that she was under arrest. Still, at this time, Saraya was in severe, manic psychosis and stated she just “wanted to sleep”. Instead, she was questioned further, once again without a parent or attorney, and was coerced into making statements that were later used against her in court.
The DA determined that Shannon & Manny were “victims” of Saraya’s planned “arson and intent to murder” her parents and baby sister. The DA claimed she poured gasoline all over each of them and the house. This is false. In fact, she had poured gasoline on a small patch of carpet in the living room that was later removed and taken as evidence. Saraya maintains that she never intended on lighting a fire, and that the poured gas was a cry for help. She was a young, adolescent girl dealing with a mental illness. But because her parents (who never pressed charges) were considered “victims,” they were not allowed to see or speak to Saraya for 23 days while she was held at a detention center.
Saraya was assigned Criminal Defense Attorney Kate Dyer, who not only admitted to Saraya’s parents that this was “not her area of expertise,’’ but also advised Saraya that if she pleaded guilty, ADA Karen McClintock would reduce her charges from 5 counts of Arson in the first (without ever lighting a fire) and 3 counts of Attempted Homicide to 2 counts of Attempted Homicide in the first and 1 count of Attempted Assault (dropping the Arson charges). Saraya had been experiencing sexual harassment at the detention center and wanted out immediately to a safer environment. Kate advised a guilty plea so Saraya could avoid 3 more months of holding at a center that she was abused in waiting for a trial. As a result, Saraya, at 13 years of age, pleaded guilty to a crime she did not commit. She is now in juvenile prison instead of in a facility where she can get the help she needs. ADA Karen McClintock has been bombarded with calls from citizens across the country and is now hiding behind DA Paul Frasier.
District Attorney Paul Frasier told KEZI 9 News that they determined that Saraya had a mental illness, but she was still aware of what was right and what was wrong that night. However, from many of Saraya’s statements, she thought she was screaming for her parents’ help that night and they couldn’t hear her. She was delusional. Paul Frasier has doubled down on his comments, saying he will never reopen the case for Saraya. This is the same DA Paul Frasier whose son was convicted of rape of a 13-year-old girl in 2011 but never served a single day in jail for his crime, instead did 3 years or probation with the promise of an expunged record, all because his dad is the DA. This is the same DA who wrongfully imprisoned Nick McGuffin for 10 years for a crime he did not commit and was just released from prison in February of 2020. The Innocence project stepped in and proved the state did not disclose that they had found another man’s DNA on the evidence that the state tried to pin on Nick McGuffin. ABC 20/20 covered the story and DA Paul Frasier’s egregious mishandling of the case. This is the same DA who was sued by another deputy district attorney for wrongful termination and whistleblowing after Frasier tried to dissuade him from disclosing information about unlawful activity of another deputy district attorney. Paul Fraiser settled in this case.
Coos County and its surrounding communities have a history of deeply rooted racism. Currently, the town has written “NO N***** ZONE” on the fence of the most popular beach in town. Black men have been chased in the streets with rocks thrown at them with no help from the local police. Recently, a white 17-year-old boy in nearby Winchester County took an AR15 and shot up his own home after his mother took his cell phone away. He was only charged with Mischief. In another Coos County case, a white woman with mental health issues stabbed her mother to death and was charged with Murder in the Second Degree. However, instead of jail time, she was sent to receive treatment at a mental health facility in Salem, OR.  Both of these offenders were white. So why is it that a mentally ill, 13-year-old biracial girl got sentenced to 11 years in prison for not even committing the crimes she was charged with?
In April, Saraya was told by her P.O. that she would consider an early release to a residential mental health facility but her parole officer, Diana Pedregon will not consider a transfer out of the prison until Saraya has “accepted accountability.” She wants Saraya to confess to a crime she didn’t commit. That’s her only way out. To lie. Why is this person who is supposed to advocate for her, refusing to hear her? Refusing to fight for her? The system has never considered Saraya’s psychosis to be part of the whole incident and case proceedings.
Saraya had never been in trouble with the law in her life. She has been a model inmate according to the staff at Oak Creek Correctional Facility (Where she is being held in Albany, OR) .OAK CREEK CORRECTIONAL FACILITY TESTED TWICE THE NATIONAL AVERAGE FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN THEIR FACILITY this year. Maine Police formed Death Squads

Rallying for repression: police terror, “law-and-order” politics, and the decline of Maine’s prisoners’ rights movement

Abstract
This essay analyzes right-wing activism in Maine’s law enforcement community in relation to the state’s prisoners’ rights movement during the early 1970s. Viewing violent political repression as central to the decline of the radical prisoners’ rights organization, Statewide Correctional Alliance for Reform (SCAR), I argue that vigilante activity and police attacks on prison activists, including Portland Police Officer Edward Foster’s botched attempt to organize a police “death squad” to assassinate local ex-convicts during the summer of 1974, should be understood as the work of a right-wing social movement in 1970s Maine that included activist prison guards, police officers, law enforcement officials, and their supporters. Although most Maine law enforcement agents would never have publicly condoned politically motivated arrests or vigilantism, the above were united in their embrace of a conservative ideology associated with Nixon-era law-and-order politics. Whether acting legally as grassroots community organizers or extralegally as vigilantes, these activists justified their deeds as necessary remedies to a criminal justice system they perceived as “soft on crime.”
This right-wing activism was successful. The destruction of the local prisoners’ rights movement left conservatives and law enforcement agents virtually uncontested in their ability to set the terms of public discussion regarding the role of prisons in Maine and U.S. society. Thus, in Maine and beyond, state and paramilitary violence were central to the rise of law-and-order politics and the prison-industrial complex, and today’s widespread acceptance of mass incarceration as “an inevitable and permanent feature” of America’s social landscape.

Keeping dishonest cops off the witness stand

How many Covid deaths have occurred daily, on average, during the first week of each month in the US?

March              3           (daily average February 29-March 7)
April.         1376           (daily average March 31-April 7)
May            1823          (daily average April 30-May 7)
June              788          (daily average May 3-June 7)
July               525          (daily average June 30-July 7)
August        1056          (daily average July 31-August 7)
September     817         (daily average August 31-September 7)
October         666          (daily average September 30-October 7)
There is no obvious seasonable pattern.  September's first week had only 77% as many as August's first week (down 23%) and October's first week had 82% of September's first week, down another 18%.
These numbers should be reassuring.  With the opening of schools and other venues, there has been no upswing in deaths.

What happens if something goes wrong after you receive a Covid vaccine?

The bottom line is that if you are injured by a vaccine or other "countermeasure" designated by the DHHS Secretary as intended for a pandemic or bioterrorism threat (Covid-19, Pandemic Flu, Anthrax, Smallpox) your options for receiving any financial benefit are very limited.
First, everyone involved with getting the vaccine to you has had their liability waived under the PREP Act.  This includes everyone from the government planners of the vaccine program down to the doctor, nurse or even pharmacy intern who injects you.  None can be sued in federal or state court, unless they wilfully tried to harm you.  And it is virtually impossible to show wilfull misconduct.
Congress did create a program to compensate some victims, but it is much less generous than the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP). (And no one ever accused the NVICP of being generous.). It is called the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP).
It is entirely administered within the Department of Health and Human Services, the same agency that sponsored the vaccine program.  There are no judges.  If you are dissatisfied with the decision, the only appeal is to DHHS, where your case is reviewed by different employees.  DHHS is the payor, too.  DHHS therefore essentially acts as the judge, jury, and defendant.  Unsurprisingly, only about 6% of people who applied to the program received any funds.
Unlike the NVICP, the CICP does not pay any attorney fees, expert witness fees or costs associated with filing a claim.  When I spoke to Dr. Caserta, the program's director, the maximum payout, even for a death or permanent disability, was $250,000 per person. Maybe it has gone up a little...but it is unlikely to be enough to replace lost income and medical expenses for those seriously injured.
Dr. Caserta told me it was also a "payor of last resort"--which meant that if the claimant had other sources of funds, such as from insurance policies, that CICP would only pay the difference up to $250,000.  In other words, if you had a disability policy that paid out $150,000, the most you could receive from the CICP would be $100,000.
The CICP has a one year statute of limitations.  This has been very tough on claimants, because most people are unaware the program exists, and therefore have been barred from filing because more than a year has elapsed since they were injured.
And there is another big problem with claims for injuries from Covid vaccines:  nobody knows exactly what the serious injuries are, nor how to identify them with certainty. DHHS is responsible for defining what types of injuries may be caused by each product.  Will they acknowledge that the injury you suffered could be caused by the vaccines they sponsored?  Will they do it in time for that one year statute of limitations?  Will they ever do it?
If you become injured after receiving a designated "countermeasure" vaccine, do not anticipate that you will get help from the government nor from the manufacturers.  Please inform yourself of the benefits and risks beforehand.
The Congressional Research Service explains the way the system works in detail, focusing on the "sweeping" liability immunities that characterize the program, in a booklet published in September, titled, "The PREP Act and Covid-19: Limiting Liability for Medical Countermeasures"
Let the buyer beware.

How the CDC increased the number of reported Covid deaths and decreased the numbers of all other causes of deaths

1.  The CDC issued new guidance that required doctors who complete death certificates to list Covid-19 on the certificate if it contributed to or caused the death.  This was no different than what we did before.  We are supposed to list all contributory causes.
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvss/coro ... Deaths.pdf

"It is important to emphasize that Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death."

2.  Without fanfare, CDC acknowledged on another webpage (below) that even if Covid was NOT listed by the doctor as the underlying cause of death, or the proximate cause of death, as long as it was listed as one of the causes or contributors, it would be coded as the cause of death

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/covid-19. ... mbersCause of Death and COVID-19

"Cause of Death and COVID-19
When COVID-19 is reported as a cause of death on the death certificate, it is coded and counted as a death due to COVID-19."
This almost unnoticeable sleight-of-hand by CDC was performed like a magician's trick.  CDC misdirected us to focus on how death certificates were to be completed (which did not change) while CDC quietly changed the way deaths would be attributed. But only for Covid. Pretty clever.
This could well be the explanation for why Dr. Briand at JHU found that reported deaths from all other causes are considerably down this year, in an amount that approximates the number of reported deaths from Covid.
Here the major causes of death and their numbers are graphed from 2014-2020.

The NSA shut down its bulk phone records collection -- authorized under Section 215 -- after it became apparent it wasn't worth the effort. Reforms put in place by the USA Freedom Act prevented the agency from collecting it all and sorting it out later. Instead, it had to approach telcos with actual targeted requests and only haul away responsive records. The NSA somehow still managed to overcollect records, putting it in violation of the law. The NSA hinted the program had outlived its usefulness anyway, suggesting it had far better collections available under other authorities that it would rather not subject to greater scrutiny.
But this didn't end the government's bulk records collections. It just ended the phone metadata program. The NSA still collects other records in bulk, including banking records and, oddly, books checked out by library patrons. The broad authority of Section 215 could be read to allow the government collect other records, like email metadata and internet activity. Reasoning that people voluntarily create records of their internet use by using third-party services to surf the web, the government hinted it could sweep these up just as easily as it had swept up call records.
The government's attempt to collect internet history under this authority ran into some friction earlier this year when the Senate voted to block this collection. Senator Ron Wyden directly asked the director of national intelligence (DNI) to inform the Senate whether or not agencies under its purview had gathered internet use records under this authority. He received this answer.
In a Nov. 6 letter to Mr. Wyden, John Ratcliffe, the intelligence director, wrote that Section 215 was not used to gather internet search terms, and that none of the 61 orders issued last year under that law by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court involved collection of “web browsing” records.
Wyden took this response to mean that implementing a

James Comey Thinks FBI’s Christopher Wray is Trying to Avoid Agitating Trump in Final Days
By Allan Lengel

As the attention of the country focuses on the white supremacist violence that terrorized the U.S. Capitol, we must acknowledge that white supremacy and U.S. policy inflict terror on communities across the globe every single day. The work to dismantle white supremacy and U.S. empire is urgent and ongoing.
Today we share with you an action opportunity to address one small piece of the how the U.S. exports violence, in this case an opportunity from the Stop U.S. Arms to Mexico campaign to reduce the U.S. guns that are trafficked and exported to Mexico. Between 2014 and 2019, the Department of Justice verified that 70,128 firearms produced or sold in the United States were recovered at crime scenes in Mexico. U.S. guns are used to commit horrific crimes, including the forced disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students. Furthermore, between 2018 and 2019, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel literally purchased parts for grenade launchers, rifles, and other military equipment on eBay for shipment to Mexico from the United States.
Representatives Raúl Grijalva (AZ) and Alan Lowenthal (CA) are circulating a letter addressed to Joe Biden about gun exports and gun trafficking to Mexico, urging the incoming administration to “work with Congress and take strong executive action to curtail the legal and illegal export of weapons to Mexico”.
As the letter explains, “U.S. weapons in the hands of Mexican security forces have also been linked to serious human rights violations. There is extensive evidence that U.S.-produced firearms have been exported to security force units involved in some of Mexico’s worst human rights violations, including the massacre of the 43 Ayotzinapa students in September 2014 who were ‘forcibly disappeared’ by local police armed with AR6530 rifles, legally supplied through licensed shipments from Colt.” You can read the full letter here.
There is an opportunity to change U.S. policy on this issue, which is why we are sharing this action alert right now. Please contact your Representative in one or both of the ways below (particularly if you think your Representative might be open to supporting this) and ask them to sign onto the Grijalva-Lowenthal letter to build momentum for the incoming administration to address trafficking and exports of U.S. guns to Mexico:
1. Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for your Representative's office (to find out who your Representative is, click here). Here is sample of what to say:
“I am calling to ask Representative _____ to join Representatives Grijalva and Lowenthal in urging President-Elect Biden to work with Congress to take strong executive action to curtail the legal and illegal export of weapons to Mexico. Data clearly shows that arms legally and illegally exported to Mexico have been directly involved in human rights violations, cartel violence, and the death of innocent civilians. Please contact Marilyn Zepeda in Rep. Grijalva’s office to add your name to the letter they are sending to Joe Biden. The deadline to sign on is January 15th.”

Greetings all,

We are really looking forward to tomorrow night's teleconference, which we think will be fascinating. This time, our call features two speakers who have been part of our group for some time: Marty McGee and Lin Cornelison.

Marty will speak first. He is an independent filmmaker and documentary producer based in Buffalo, New York. On this call, he will address issues related to the Apollo Moon missions. For those who are able, Marty is suggesting that we watch Massimo Mazzucco's film American Moon prior to the call. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpuKu3F0BvY&t=3604s He also recommends Dave McGowan's 14-part series Wagging the Moondoggie.

Marty will address the following issues and he has provided us with the following links:

Lin Cornelison, who has become a teleconference regular in recent months and who worked with James Hufferd to organize the Iowa 9/11 truth group, will then talk to us about items of interest that were never included in the 9/11 Commission Report, touching on the Pentagon and Shanksville along with things he thinks should not be swept under the rug just because too much time has passed.

As always, we’ll have announcements. So please join us.
